Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: 8:30am-4:00pm Wednesday (OPEN LATE): 8:30am-6:00pm Friday (CLOSING EARLY): 8:30am-2:00pm This is a great opportunity to stock up on new books for the school year! During that week, your child's class will have a chance to visit the Book Fair in our Library and shop for books. The Book Fair will accept cash, all major credit cards (with parent/guardian present) and checks. As per district policy, checks will be accepted only if they are made payable to AHISD, are imprinted with your address, and have your phone number and Texas Driver's License number (written or imprinted). Please remember that all sales are final (no returns). If you will not be shopping the book fair with your child, please make sure that your child clearly understands any purchasing expectations you have. (such as: only books, no comic/activity books, only one trinket item, etc.) Book fair flyers and more information will be coming home with your child in a couple of weeks. Dads Club: First Meet and Greet will be Friday the 29 th of September at 7:45 am. Page 1 of 5

Accessing your student s library account & e-books/audiobooks Did you know that you and your child can access their Woodridge Elementary Library account at home? When your child logs-in to their library account they can see what library books they have checked out, when their library books are due to be returned, browse the library catalog to see what books are available, make a favorites list, and check out e-books and/or digital audiobooks. Being mindful of library book due dates helps our students become responsible, independent library patrons. We encourage you to have your child log-in to their library account on a regular basis so that they can practice being organized and prepared. See the attached PDF (within the Monday Mail email) for specific instructions. Week 2: Healthy Heights Tip of the Week: Start the day with a healthy breakfast. It refuels the body and provides energy for the day. In general, kids and teens who eat breakfast perform better in school and eat healthier throughout the day. Without breakfast, people can get irritable, restless, and tired. This includes both parents and children PTO NEWS The annual PTO Membership Drive is on! Our goal is for every family at Woodridge to be a member of the PTO. If you have not yet joined the PTO, it's not too late! Membership in the PTO provides much needed financial support for our school! Your PTO membership dollars fund projects such as the outdoor learning center, technology in the classroom, PE equipment, and much more. Another important benefit of PTO membership is access to the Woodridge Directory smart phone/device app. To purchase your PTO Membership: Go to www.woodridgepto.org Log-in or create a new account Update all parent and student info, including grade and teacher Go to "For Sale" tab and click on "Woodridge Online Mule Market" Add the PTO Membership of your choice and check out OR return the attached membership form to school with your check! Please circle which PTO level you would like above and return to school with payment. Deadline for the membership drive is Friday, October 6. Classes with 100% participation will receive a special treat. Questions? Email Sheila Mayfield at sheila@alumni.upenn.edu Page 2 of 5

We are asking for clothes, jackets, shoes, new socks and new underwear. We ask that you only donate clothing that you would still send your child to school in if it still fit. All clothing will go to stocking the Clothes Closest that will be available for students in need at Howard, Cambridge and Woodridge. Teachers/Counselors will be responsible for identifying children that fit this criteria and will assist in helping them shop in the closet several times throughout the year to accommodate growth spurts and seasonal changes. Contact your Clothes Closet rep K Lee Skaug kjskaug@gmail.com or Amanda McWilliams adoverstreet@hotmail.com for details on drop off and additional pick up sites. Any clothing deemed not appropriate for our closet will be donated to another organization. Please contact K Lee Skaug for any questions or concerns. Last year our school earned $1500 and we d like to meet that goal again this year. Please check your child s folder for information on our first Box Tops Collection drive. The class that collects the most Box Tops will win a popsicle or ice cream party! Please drop off any collected Box Tops in the blue collection bin found just inside the front entrance at school.
