LITERATURE DAY On Thursday, October 29 th, Oak Ridge is celebrating Literature Day. The intent is to celebrate and encourage imagination and creativity through reading. They need to bring this book with them for our schoolwide parade. Please make sure that these are quality books and not magazines or coloring books. When planning costumes, keep the safety of our children in mind, and make sure the following guidelines are adhered to: 1. Costumes must permit student to sit and participate in the learning process for the day. 2. NO complete face make-up is to be worn. (rouge, freckles, etc. are allowed absolutely no masks!) 3. Costumes should be tasteful, modest, and not include any type of weapon, whether real or imitation. Must be elementary age appropriate. Items or costumes will be confiscated if it goes against school rules. Our morning will kick off with our official Literature Day Serpentine Character pareade @ 8:55 am. The children will be walking throughout the school in costume, with their corresponding book in hand. Parents and relatives are welcomed to attend. Parents must enter through the west gate only, and gather at the black top near the grass area and tether ball posts. Once the parade is over, you are dismissed and students will return to class for instruction. Please respect class time and teacher routines and rules. The success of this school event depends on your willingness to support us by following our guidelines. I hope it is an event that we can continue each year with your support. Thank you, Oak Ridge Family REFLECTIONS NATIONAL ART PROGRAM The theme is Let Your Imagination Fly The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works.
