Nomination and Selection Procedures Nominations Individuals, groups, or organizations may be nominated by anyone associated with the Babe Ruth League, Inc. program, past or present, or anyone else who is knowledgeable of the goals, ideals and principals of Babe Ruth League, Inc. which by definition includes all divisions of Babe Ruth League, Inc.- Cal Ripken Baseball, Babe Ruth Baseball, Babe Ruth Softball and Buddy Ball. Nominations must be submitted on the official nomination form. The form may be duplicated as needed. Each nomination must be accompanied by at least one narrative letter which complete detailed information is offered in support of the nominee. All appropriate documents will be submitted to at least two members of the selection committee by April 1 for a spring state meeting and by August 1 for a fall state meeting of Colorado Babe Ruth Leagues, Inc. Documents may also be submitted to a District Commissioner who will forward the documents to a member of the selection committee by the appropriate deadline date. Election All nominations will be reviewed by a committee composed of the Executive Board of Colorado Babe Ruth Leagues, Inc. that body shall consist of the State Commissioners and Assistant State Commissioners. Election shall require a ¾ majority of affirmative votes. Should a current member of the Executive Board of Colorado Babe Ruth Leagues, Inc. (State or Assistant State Commissioner) be nominated, he or she shall recuse themselves from voting while they are under consideration for acceptance into the Hall of Fame. The required affirmative 3/4 majority vote of the total number of Executive Board members voting for the nominated Executive Board member will be decreased by his or her exclusion from voting. Selection Criteria In order for a person to qualify for election to the, the following criteria must be met: 1. The nominee must have been active in Colorado Babe Ruth Leagues, Inc. for a minimum of 10 years. 2. The nominee may be living or deceased. 3. The nominee must be in good standing with the State.
4. The nominee must have contributed significantly to youth and Babe Ruth Leagues, Inc. through exemplary dedication and sportsmanship. Categories for Nominees Colorado Babe Ruth Leagues, Inc. program recognizes that outstanding contributions may be made to youth through many diverse avenues. Therefore, several categories of nominees will be recognized. Officials: For the purpose of nomination to the Hall of Fame, official will be defined as anyone serving in a League, District, State, Regional, or National capacity. This includes managers/coaches and umpires Patrons of the game: Volunteer workers, sponsors, spouses, fans or other special community supporters. Special: Colorado Babe Ruth Leagues, Inc. alumni who have played college or professional baseball/ softball. They must have demonstrated a willingness to support the State program by contribution of their special abilities. They must be retired from the game for at least 1 year. Timelines 1. Each election year, information concerning the nomination procedure will be announced via league communication and the official Colorado Babe Ruth Leagues, Inc. website. 2. Nominations must be received by the appropriate commissioners in time for them to be presented to the Election Committee at the annual spring State meeting. 3. Each nomination ballot will be promptly acknowledged electronically by e-mail by the receiving member(s) of the Election Committee. 4. The Election Committee will meet at, or before, the Spring (or Fall) meeting to review all nominations. 5. Announcements of the recipients will be made public through the state communication process.
6. Formal induction of Hall of Fame members will be made at the banquet during the annual Fall (or Spring) State meeting.
The Colorado Babe Ruth Leagues, Inc. Hall of Fame is designed to honor those persons, organizations, or groups for contributions to the Babe Ruth program through dedication, devotion and effort. A person, organization or group, to be elected to the, must have demonstrated a significant contribution of those attributes listed above and served as an exemplary model of the ideals and principles of the Babe Ruth Baseball/Softball program.
