Communications Department Victory Field 501 W. Maryland Street Indianapolis, IN 46225 317.269.3542 www.indyindians.com HE S THE DEAN: RHP Chris Volstad 42-28, 1st IL West RHP Chris Volstad (5-2, 3.43 ERA) Monday, June 22, 2015 6:35 p.m. EDT Coolray Field Lawrenceville, GA Game #71 Road Game #34 Manager Dean Treanor is one of just six team skippers to pilot the Tribe during five or more seasons. He ranks sixth in all-time Indians wins (359) and is 6 shy of the franchise s No. 5 manager, Owen Bush (365). LAST TIME OUT: The Charlotte Knights tied a Victory Field era (1996) record with six home runs and starter Erik Johnson tossed eight shutout innings to sweep the 13-1 on Sunday BB&T Ballpark. THE INDIANS... Own the best record in the International League (by 1.5 games)... Were swept for the first time this year after dropping a season-high three straight road games at Charlotte... Have dropped four of the last five and five of the last eight since June 12... Conversely, are 10-5 in 15 games since June 5, 12-7 during the current month and 20-10 since May 20... Were 41-29 after 70 games last season (42-29 after 71). SERIES NOTES The Indians and Braves meet for the fifth of eight matchups in 2015... Indianapolis won the four-game set at Victory Field, 3-1, and enters today s opener unbeaten in 10 the last 11 series dating back to 2010; The Tribe has four victories, six splits and one loss (at Gwinnett in 2013) during that span... In addition, Indy s win in the finale at Victory Field on June 14 improved its record to 8-2 over the last 10 matchups. KEEP YOUR ENEMIES CLOSER Thirteen of the last 15 games between Indianapolis and Gwinnett have been decided by no more than two runs, including nine one-run finishes... That stretch dates back to July 19, 2014 with the non-two-run contests occurring in a 4-1 Indians win on April 27, 2014 and a 9-4 Tribe triumph on June 15, 2014. TALKING CHOP Jaff Decker has hit safely in five of his last seven games against Gwinnett... He is 7-for-20 (.350) with four runs scored and six RBIs against Braves pitching in those last seven games. SERIES STREAK SNAPPED The Indians snapped a streak of seven unbeaten series with a sweep by Charlotte... Indy had won six of the last seven series with one split (Toledo) in that stretch, beginning May 22. HOMER (un)happy Indians pitchers, which led the league with 22 homers Today s Tribe Starter Current Streak: W1 W-L-S ERA G GS IP H R ER HR BB SO AVG 5-2-0 3.43 14 12 76.0 77 32 29 2 23 50.266 thru the first 67 games, combined to allow 10 homers to Charlotte during the recent three-game set. GOOD WILL(Y) HUNTING Willy Garcia has hit safely in three of his first four games at the Triple-A level... Including those four contests and a 19-game hitting streak with Double- A Altoona, Garcia now has hits in 22 of his last 23 games since May 25... He is batting.347 with 11 extra-base hits and 18 RBIs in that time. BOW-CHIKA-BOWKER Since snapping an 0-for-17 stretch during his first four-plus Indians games, John Bowker is 4-for-10 over his last three appearances... He has hit safely in each of those three games with one multi-hit effort and one run scored. LOVE ME SOME GORKY Gorkys Hernandez is riding a season-high six-game hit streak courtesy of an eighth-inning single against Charlotte... He is hitting.316 (6x19) with a home run during his streak, and dating further back to May 22, ranks eighth in the league and first on the Tribe with a.402 OBP over his last 26 games (24 hits, 13 walks). The offense has 63 doubles, 13 triples and 17 homers in those 37 contests. RUN, KEON, RUN! Triple-A rookie Keon Broxton scored his 14th run last night in just his 20th game since joining the Tribe...
