MEMBERS Edition Page 6 Brazil name squad to face Socceroos Thursday, 22 August 2013 12:59 PM World Cup hosts Brazil have named a near full-strength squad for their home match against the Socceroos to be played on 7 September in the capital, Brasilia. Brazil stars Neymar, Fred, Oscar, Thiago Silva and David Luiz headline a squad that will be keen to atone for their surprise 1-0 loss to Switzerland in their last outing. Chelsea midfielder Ramires and veteran right back Maicon were both recalled to the squad that won the Confederations Cup in June. Ramires was left out of the tournament after confusion over his fitness meant he missed Brazil s lead up games. Meanwhile World Cup winner Maicon returns, having signed with Serie A side Roma in July. Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari also stuck with goalkeeper Julio Cesar despite the player having not played in an official match since their Confederations Cup success on home soil. There was no room in the squad for Ronaldinho and Kaka who again miss out. Brazil's loss to Switzerland last week halted a six-match winning streak and ended an 11-match unbeaten run. This run had seen them rise to No.9 in FIFA's world rankings and stretched back to the 2-1 loss to England in February, which was also Scolari's first match back in charge of the national team. The same squad will face Portugal in Boston three days after Brazil s match against the Socceroos.
