Your payment will be cashed and is non-refundable upon your team receiving notification of being selected by the Tournament Organizing Committee to play in the tournament. 2. General Rules: 1. All players must be from one team and must be registered as a member of that team with the applicable Provincial or Zone governing body. Teams who play an ineligible player will have the actual result of the affected game(s) cancelled. The affected game(s) will be recorded as 4 0 score in favour of the team(s) not playing an ineligible player. 2. All teams must sign in and pick up a Coach s Package at the Tournament s arena control desk at the Don Hartman North East Sportsplex prior to their first scheduled game. 3. Score sheets are to be picked up at the Tournament s arena control desk. They are to be completed or verified and signed by the coach at least fifteen (15) minutes prior to game time and returned to the control desk. IMPORTANT: Please bring your own team labels for scoresheets. We will NOT supply printed scoresheets. 4. If Affiliates play in a game, they must be noted by an (AP) next to their affiliate player s name on the game score sheet and teams are required to strike the names of players not participating in a game to ensure proper verification. 5. Teams must be ready to go on ice ten (10) minutes before the scheduled game time. Teams not on ice within two (2) minutes of the referee s whistle being blown to start the game will forfeit the game. However, the game will be played as an exhibition game and the score recorded as 4 0. The penalty for not playing a game is forfeiture of position in the Round Robin standings. 6. Any team that leaves the ice, or calls a game will be suspended from all further play in the tournament, including the awarding of medallions. 7. A MAXIMUM SEVEN (7) goal difference will be displayed when posting game scores on the time clock, posted in the tournament s results area and recorded scores used to calculate any ratios for Round Robin tie breaking calculations. 8. Thirty second (30 sec) shot clocks will be used in U12 and older Divisions in this Tournament. 9. In U10 Divisions, no one player can score more than 3 goals in regulation time per game. 10. Good Sportsmanship will be stressed throughout the tournament. Any TEAM accumulating MORE THAN 30 Penalty Minutes in any ONE (1) GAME, shall see the Head Coach or acting Head Coach from that game suspended for their next tournament game. No grievances will be accepted. A MATCH penalty will automatically result in suspension from all subsequent tournament games. 11. All referee decisions are final. 12. In the case of conflict in uniform color, the VISITING team must change their uniforms. 13. Except as noted above, Ringette Canada and Ringette Alberta rules apply. Games will be of the following duration and format: IMPORTANT: Officials have been instructed to drop the clock to 2 minutes Stop Time when there is 5 minutes left in ice time for Round Robin games only. U12 & U14: Two (2) periods of 18 minutes stop time with shot clock play. Top 2 teams in each division standing will participate in medal game. U16 and above: Two (2) periods of 23 minutes stop time with shot clock play. Top 2 teams in each division standing will participate in medal game. Half time break will be 2 minutes running time. Points for Round Robin play standings will be as follows: Win 2 points Tie 1 point Loss 0 points ROUND ROBIN TIE BREAKING PROCESS: Criteria In the event of a standings points tie between two (2) teams after round robin play; the following tie break rules will be used to advance one (1) team to the Division s Final Game. In the event of a tie between three (3) or more teams after round robin play, the tie breaking process will revert back to (a), as soon as a tie breaking rule identify one (1) of the three or more tied teams for advancement to or elimination from the Division s Final. The remaining tied teams will then repeat the same tie breaking process starting at (a) until the next team is identified for advancement or elimination. Criteria (a) through (c) will only apply between the teams that remain tied after each round of the tie breaking process, not the team(s) advanced or eliminated earlier in the tie breaking process. a) The winner of more game(s) between the tied teams during the round robin will be declared the higher rank. 2018 Ringette Tournament Application Form
b) If still tied, teams shall be ranked according to the difference between goals for and against in games between the tied teams in round robin play. The more positive the differential the higher the ranking. c) If still tied, teams shall be ranked according to the least goals against in games between the tied teams in round robin play. The lower goals against, the higher the ranking. d) If still tied, teams shall be ranked according to the difference between goals for and against in all games played in round robin. The more positive the differential the higher the ranking. e) If still tied, teams shall be ranked according to the least goals against in all games played in the round robin. The lower goals against, the higher the ranking. f) If still tied, teams shall be ranked according to the team with the larger ratio based on the following formula in all games played in the round robin total goals for + total goals against total goals against a) If still tied, teams shall be ranked according to the team with the least total penalty minutes in all games played in the round robin, receiving the higher standing. b) If still tied, teams shall be ranked by coin toss Medal Game Format: In medal games, the higher place team shall be the HOME team. 1. In the event of a tie score at the end of regulation time in a Final Game: a) When a medal game is tied at the end of regulation play, a 2 minute break will be taken, followed by a five-minute, sudden victory overtime period. Each team will submit a list of five shooters for a potential initial shoot-out to the on-ice official at this time & prior to overtime play. b) Teams will not change ends for the overtime period. c) Ring possession for the start of the overtime period will be determined by coin toss. d) If a tie still exists at the end of the overtime period, a five player shoot-out will decide the game winner. Home team shall shoot first. e) Using the submitted shoot list, shooters will alternate, beginning with the designated home team. f) The team that scores the greatest number of goals will be declared the winner. g) If a tie still exists after the initial five player shoot-out, a single shoot-out, alternating format will begin with the designated home team. h) The coach will select players for each round, but cannot re-use players until all players have taken their turn in the shoot-out. Goalies and injured players are exempt. i) The first team that scores in a round when the other does not will be the winner. NOTE: Penalties assessed in regulation or overtime play shall carry over to the next period.
