Catta Catta Members in the News! Some might think they were crazy and perhaps they weren t thinking straight, but members Larry Welch and Chris Connors along with guest, Renato Tuazon, accomplished something at Catta that has not been done before and may not be topped in the future! On the longest day of the year, June 20th and with temperatures reaching 108 degrees the three decided to play golf. Well, not just golf, A LOT of golf! Arriving at 5:30 am and greeting some of the staff as they arrived, the three teed it up and began the day. They played, and played, and played fast! Not waiting on honors, not caring about score, just completing holes. By 2:00 pm they had completed 60 holes!! That s three plus rounds of golf!! Sporting water soaked towels on their heads to keep cool, they continued to play stopping for no one. It was amazing. When asked if they took breaks or stopped for lunch, the reply was just for grab and go. If we stop, we re done. At the end of it all, they completed 100 holes finishing around 7:00 pm. That s over 5 ½ rounds in a single day! Yes, there was still more daylight and they contemplated playing more; but Renato said I think 100 holes is enough and besides, Chris noted, Quixote s closes at 8:00pm It s good to have your priorities right. Great job gentlemen. Charter members of a new Century Club perhaps? Next year anyone? Coyote Moon - CVCC Member Rates CVCC Members: $75 CVCC Member Guests: $100 Here is how it works. Catta Verdera Women Golfers continued... CVWG Participation Continues to Grow! Women are now the fastest growing segment of new players entering the game of golf. The 2017 Solheim Cup dates have been picked and now we need our players! Play dates are: Sunday, July 16 Sunday, July 23 Sunday, July 30 Sunday, Aug 06 As in past years, we are pairing our Solheim Cup dates to be played on the same days the Men s Club plays their Ryder Cup. As you may remember, our focus for this year is encouraging increased participation. We welcomed several new golfer s to the women s club this year, and CVWG is nothing without ALL your participation and play. We Take FUN Seriously! Remember, this is a club, not just a golf course Thanks to golf we have made some wonderful friendships that we may otherwise not have had the pleasure of enjoying. If you aren t familiar with the Solheim Cup, this is a fun way to play various match play games in a team format. We will have some matches where it will be a 2 person team and others where it will be one-onone. You will be paired and play against someone in your similar handicap range. Don t worry, we won t let a 36 handicap play against a 10 handicap!! You do not need to play in all the play dates to join the Solheim Cup. Even if you can play on only one of the days, please sign up. Once we finalize the entire player list, we will then break up into two teams captained by myself and Laurie Emerson. Further information regarding format will follow once the teams are picked. Use the blue button below to sign up for the Solheim Cup. If you know of a specific date(s) that you won t be available, please indicate in the RSVP email the button will generate. Questions? Contact Susan Bishop or call her at 916.625.4273. See you on the course!

Ramiro Sena Course Superintendent Superintendent s Update The heat of the summer is definitely here. We all experienced a record heat wave in just the beginning of the Summer. It definitely puts a halt on what we do on the golf course as far as agronomics or any other practices. The extreme heat then prompts us to be more diligent on our cultural practices such as verticutting and needle tine on greens. This ensures us of a more heat tolerant plant with ample oxygen to withstand the heat during the next couple months. We make sure the staff is hand watering & syringing the greens during the heat and that there is ample overnight irrigation to give the turf a better chance. We ask that please help us maintained the turf during the heat by circumventing any dry areas with the golf cart. Also, please avoid leaving any solid objects on the green s surface while practicing putting for long periods of time. We hope you all keep an extra bottle of water and stay hydrated while on the golf course. Thank you for your support!
