Box 277 Barnegat, NJ 08005 (609) 891-8080 Message From The President I guess summer is officially coming to an end and I am pleased to say that it's ending on a high note for the club! The Pine Barrens had their 1st annual water fun fly on August 26th at Deer Head Lake in Forked River and must say it was a huge success! We couldn't have had a more beautiful day for flying, cool temperatures and low winds. It was nice to see other clubs come out and attend the event and have a good time. But, what I thought was the best was the support from our club!! I wish to thank all of you who came out to help make this event a success. Too many names to mention which is the best part. Everything just went so smoothly and it's all due to you, the members. Let's keep the enthusiasm going in to September, we have Berkeley Pride Day on September 9th, the club picnic on September 10th and Lacey Day on September 30th. Hope to see you all at these events as well. Happy flying! Richard Bombardier
Bill's Corner Meeting Highlights 2 Aug 2017 Thanks to a line of really nasty thunderstorms, Micki wasn t able to attend the August meeting. So, there aren t any minutes to report. Think about that, guys, because if no one steps up to replace her, there won t be any more minutes to report after December. No records of club affairs, events, raffles, rule changes, etc. So, one of you has to be man (or woman) enough to do the job Micki s been doing for the last 6 years (actually, you ll be doing less work, as tracking the Membership is now a Treasurer function). The Float Fly was a great success! We had 17 pilots, including visitors from the WASP, Ocean County, and JCSF clubs. Several of the visiting fliers commented on how much fun they d had and how they were looking forwards to Float Fly 2018! Many thanks go to the guys who ran the registration table, the rescue boat, and (especially) the food! During the event, the township Rec. Department chief stopped by, voicing how pleased he was to see how the event was going, and how he s definitely interested in repeating it. The club got some other kudos, too. At one point, a flotilla of geese started heading into the runway area. After few quick buzzes by models, they reversed course (and stayed away). That lead to cheers from landowners on both sides of the lake! The Float Fly is an excellent example of how our club can put on a fun, low-stress (except for Pat..;-)) event. We had fun and made friends, both inside and outside of the R/C community. Please, consider this when the call is made for participation at other club events, such as the upcoming Berkley Community Day and the PBM Club Picnic. Come and join the fun, even if you don t have a plane to fly! Now for a look at some of the people and planes at Float Fly 2017!
