DC Report for March 2009 Newsletter Hello Riders and families, Well the last Instructional Rally was a bit of a fizzer as we decided to call the rally off at lunch time due to the horrific fires and constant threat we were all feeling. I think it was the right decision and we all had an easy start to the year with only half day training. Great to see so many faces back again this year and a big welcome to all of our new members. Don t really have much to add or say apart from my encouragement you all to participate this year. We have our Horse Trials event at the end of March (remember the Cross Country Course is off duty to all now until then), Camp on the weekend before the Horse Trials, I am looking forward to the Bush Dance on the Saturday evening!! And many interclub and inter zone events coming up over the next few months See you all on Sunday the 8 th Mick Callaghan GROUP 10:15-10:30 10:30-12:30 12:00-12:30 12:30-1:30 1:30-2:00 1:30 ~ 3:30 FLEMINGTON CAULFIELD MOONEE VALLEY CRANBOURNE STONEY CREEK GEAR CHECK Flat Work Theory Show Jumping Show Jumping Theory Flat Work Flat Work Theory Show Jumping Show Jumping Theory Flat Work Flat Work Theory Jumping LUNCH FLEMINGTON CAULFIELD MOONEE VALLEY C LEAH SIMMONS C MELISSA JOHNSON ERIN WEST C JESSICA STEVENS D JANET HOWE LAUREN RAY C C LAUREN STURT D* MINI GRIGG C REBECCA PATON C CHRISTINE CALLAGHAN D NATASHA DICKSON C STEPHANIE CAFFIN D BRIANNA STAPLES C NICOLE CAFFIN C KRISTEN DILLEY ELIZA WILSON HALL C JUANA ANDREOU C ALYSSA WOOLLEY C BRIANNA MOREY C ERIN PHILLIPS C JESS MURPHY D* CAITLYN MOREY

March 2009 We are all aware of the devastation caused by the bushfires in our area. Both Kinglake & Yarra Glen lost buildings & equipment. Kinglake would like to get their rallies underway asap and would appreciate any donations of equipment to tide them over. Our Wyena Horse Trials are only 3 weeks away. Despite emails and notices re working bees at the XC Course it has been the same small, magnificent group that has laboured hard to produce a fantastic Course of new obstacles and repairs to the existing jumps, which is for the benefit of all our riders. We have new front fencing and a new entrance and all we need now is a huge down pour to make the water jump look its best. The Course is now closed to Pony Club & WARC as per Horse Trial Regs. We will be flagging and numbering the jumps approx a week before our event, help is needed here and on the Friday 20 March when we will be setting up dressage & show Jumping and preparing the Canteen & Office. Please get your entries into Leah Simmons or bring to this Sunday s rally. Thank you to Karen Luke who has given our new website a great look www.wyena.ponyclubvic.org.au if you have any photos or info that you d like to put on our site contact Karen karen.luke@trademarkdm.com.au Wyena is one of the many Clubs that makes up the Northern Metropolitan Zone and receives allocations of duties to perform at Zone Events. All members are required to assist at these. We have to set up 6 x 60m by 20m dressage rings ( with Ringwood PC) on Friday 27 March, take down some on the Saturday and the rest on the Sunday and provide two XC Judges for this event. It always seems to be the same group that carries out these duties and yet I see our riders competing at Zone events thus you d expect a few more offers of help. Please can all riders, including WARC, clean up after their horses. Repeatedly there is horse poo in the wash bay and/or alongside the picnic table areas. We ask that you remove the horse poo and place around a tree or up against the fence but NOT WHERE WE WALK THROUGH OR WANT TO EAT as some people are becoming very slack and inconsiderate to other members. Reminder horses are not allowed in the immediate area of the Club House. Our AGM is this Sunday and we need new volunteers to take on a Committee role. The positions of Treasurer, Uniform Co ordinator & Canteen Co ordinator are all vacant. Many thanks to Mandy Shearer & Margot Johnson who have generously given their time over many years to maintain our facilities and finances, See you Sunday Robina
