Arizona Diamondbacks (24-11) vs. LOS ANGELES DODGERS (15-20) LHP Patrick Corbin (4-0, 2.15) vs. LHP Alex Wood (0-3, 3.83) Wednesday, May 9, 2018 7:10 p.m PT Dodger Stadium Los Angeles, CA Game 36 Home Game 17 (7-9) Night Game 26 (11-14) TV: SNLA/SNLA Spanish/MLB Network Radio: AM 570 (English); KTNQ 1020 AM NEED A REMEDY: The Dodgers dropped the first contest of a sixgame homestand last night, falling to the first-place Diamondbacks, 8-5, in 12 innings. Los Angeles is now 2-3 in extra frames this year. This evening, the Dodgers wrap up their brief, two-game series with Arizona trying to garner a split with the Snakes and halt a three-game losing streak. The Dodgers are just 3-8 vs. Arizona this season and the Snakes took two of three from the Dodgers April 13-15 in L.A. Following this series, the Dodgers take on the Reds for four games, beginning tomorrow night, before heading back out on the road for a couple of three-game series with the Marlins and Nationals. The Dodgers split four games last week in Phoenix and that series is the only one all season that the Diamondbacks haven t won outright. Even with a Dodger victory tonight, the Snakes have extended their streak. Since the start of the 2017 campaign, there have been only two longer streaks at any point during a season one of them by the Dodgers last year: MLB, 2017-18 Most Consecutive Series Won or Tied (reg season only; minimum 2 games in series) Dodgers, June-Aug 2017 22 Indians, Aug-Oct 2017 17 Diamondbacks, Mar 2018 current 12 SOURCE: STATS, LLC The Dodgers streak began on June 9 vs. Cincinnati and lasted until dropping two of three to Milwaukee Aug. 25-27. HARD TO HANDLE: Dodger outfielder Matt Kemp did it again last night, going 3-for-6 with a double and an RBI en route to his third consecutive three-hit game. He leads the Dodgers in three-hit games and the multi-hit contest was Kemp s ninth of the season, which ranks second on the club. Kemp is slashing.353/385/.569 and his five home runs are tied with Chris Taylor, Yasmani Grandal and Kiké Hernández for the most on the club. The Oklahoma native also leads the Dodgers in batting average (1 st, NL), slugging percentage and OPS (.954) while playing in 33 of the team s 35 games. The 33-year-old has 264 career home runs, which ties him for 201 st on the all-time list, one behind George Bell, Brian McCann and Matt Stairs. Kemp s 1,224 hits rank eighth in L.A. Dodger history and his 222 doubles ranks seventh, one shy of Ron Cey. Thus far, Kemp has been one of the most valuable acquisitions of the offseason: Highest BA in 2018 Players Who Changed Teams in Offseason (minimum 100 PA) Matt Kemp, LAD.353 (leads NL) Dee Gordon, SEA.353 J.D. Martinez, BOS.346 Corey Dickerson, PIT.333 Ryan Flaherty, ATL.310 SOURCE: STATS, LLC THORN IN MY PRIDE: Dodger left-hander Alex Wood will take the mound this evening for his eighth start of the season and is still seeking his first victory of 2018. In his last outing this past Thursday vs. the Diamondbacks, Wood allowed just one run and four hits while striking out eight in 5.0 innings (ND). Despite his 0-3 record, Wood has held the opposition to a.213 average and has posted a 0.93 WHIP, while striking out 38 against just five walks. Wood currently ranks among the NL leaders in WHIP: NL, Pitchers with Lowest WHIP 2018 Patrick Corbin, ARI 0.76 Max Scherzer, WAS 0.85 Aaron Nola, PHI 0.89 Alex Wood 0.93 In 14 career games (10 starts) starts against the Diamondbacks, Wood is 5-4 with a 3.09 ERA (22 ER/64.0 IP) and a.231 opponents average.
