Need to have food safety standards in place and training prior to event. o Cost may be $40.00 for 3.5 hour license. Do we want to do this? Answer: Yes. Need propane grills and 10x10 canopy to go over cooking area.

o Kick-off is posted on website. In addition, look at sending out mass email, have Nicole make a flyer to post at arena and put on main page of website. o Fall Clinic will be going on at the same time as Kick-off. o Nicole to check into renting a Jumper. o Make cost of food affordable. - Concession Stand is open and ice cream cooler is in. - All Volunteer time is listed under DIBBS on the website o Currently, one spot open for this Saturday to fill. o Credit example: 10 credits equals $100.00 refund once required hours are filled. o Age = 16 for concession stand and 16 to handle the money for chuck a puck. Anyone collecting pucks on ice must wear helmet. Nicole Wilms (Fundraising/Recruitment Coordinator): - The September 11 th wing eating competition at BWW was a lot of fun. The fire departments were great! Oakdale beat out NSP. - NSP Parade is tomorrow night. NSPAHA has approximately 20 kids helping to throw out candy and foam pucks with our hockey association information on them. - Getting things ready for the Season Kick off. Waiting to hear back from Tim Rieser whether he got the okay from Ramsey County for cooking outside. - First two nights of Fall Clinic had a lot of people sign up in person vs. sending in paperwork. (Up to 30+ Bantams signed up on the spot.) Need to confirm whose checks are in the box and who s mailed in. - Try Free Hockey is coming up on November 2 nd. Flyers will be printed up and handed out to all public and non-public schools within our district. Need to make sure that registration forms are left in school office for those that decide to play. Erick to speak with ice directors to get more ice for this event. - All the gambling paperwork has been filled out. There s a section that Erick needs to complete. Once done, Mike Smith will review to make sure we didn t miss anything. Nicole and Erick will attend the two day class in October once the dates are released. Mike Simons (Girls/Tryout Coordinator) - Next Tuesday parent mtg. Mark and Mike to meet tomorrow morning and on Sunday to finalize the girls and cross reference on registration. - Following week is tryouts for the girls (Friday night, Saturday and Sunday mornings). - Spoke with Kevin Wold (last year s girls coordinator) on what to expect, issues he encountered last year, how merger was handled, what good things to look forward to, etc. - Still waiting on assistant coaches -- find out where girls place and what parent coaches we are going to have. - Tryout Coordinator for the boys tryouts and girls tryouts sounds like we ll have 3 on ice coaches for tryouts, evaluators will get good feedback, Mike in penalty box, and 2-3 will be on ice. - At tryout meeting last night the North parents didn t realize that registration ended. North parents didn t get notification and were surprised they had to pay a late fee. Apparently, only Tartan parents received notification. If more than five people didn t get notification, Mike will look into getting late fee registration waived (talk to Mark). - Also, Tartan is looking for new varsity coach for the girls.

Dennis Greeley (Ice Scheduler/D2 Representative): - D2 meeting this Sunday in Roseville at 7:00 p.m. at the VFW. - Ice: just waiting for blackout dates. - Wrapping up tryouts on October 12 th and will use October 13 th ice for Mite ratings. Whatever ice is left over will be used for clinics, 3 on 3, or whatever. - Does anyone in this room want to, or know someone who might want to, be a District 2 Level Director? This person would also sit in on the D2 Board meetings. Let Dennis know if interested or they may appoint someone. - D2 says they may start fining any association that doesn t show up for the D2 meetings. Yucel Ozel (Spring League Coordinator/Webmaster): - Nothing new to report on Spring League. - Nothing new to report on Webmaster. - Any stories should be sent to Yucel for posting on website under Coaches Corner. Tania Mulvaney/Shellie Rowe (Tournaments Coordinators): - To help ensure a smooth transition into role of Tournaments Coordinator, Tania will continue to help train Shellie Rowe. - More checks are coming in. - Squirt A&B Tournament are, either full or near full. - Squirt C Tournament Shellie will inquire w/tania for status update. - Bantam Tournament only NSP C has signed up. - PeeWee Tournament only two teams have signed up so far along with NSP C. Cassandra Stepan (Mite Coordinator): - Mites Approx. 30 players signed up for fall clinic. - Sparse on Advanced Mites - 10 or so players are new Mites. - Lining up coaches. Getting confirmations from new coaches. - Putting plans together for managers/coaches meeting to be held in October. - Outdoor Ice: Gary will be placing call tomorrow. o Mite Director to possibly have a key for warming house. o Plan for two nights per week (5:30 7:30p.m.) for Mites. o Location: Northwood s Rink. o Practice is optional but strongly recommended. o Parents can skate but must have helmets to skate. - Started drafting job description for Team Managers. - Will probably have two Mite 2 teams, one (small) Mite 1 team, and presently there are not many Advance Mites (9 skaters & 1 goalie); however, for more to sign up. - Something to consider is to let returning Advanced Mites tryout as Squirts. Mike M. offered to call parents to inquire about Squirt tryouts. Need to know what Squirt numbers are going to look like. - Need to seriously start recruiting for Advanced Mites! Connect with returning players who haven t signed up yet make follow-up calls. - Cassandra will work w/coaches on Advance Mites know who s coming back. Player Development Committee members need to call parents and inquire interest in returning and/or interest in trying out at Squirt level.

- Right now there are 22 potential players for Squirts (3 are goalies) which would result in 11/team. Tartan will take some C players but we really don t want to do that. Need to solidify the numbers for Squirt and Advance Mites. Dan McClenahan (Clinics/Player Development Coordinator): - Middle of Fall Clinic - Good turnout for Bantams - Mite Fall Clinic is free and free equipment to use. Happy to hear that there are 10 new players trying out. Can give equipment to use for tryouts. - Dan contacted Dale over at Tartan to coordinate scrimmages for the B teams on Oct. 12 th Steve Czech (Senior Advisor): - Nothing reported. Old Business: - Tartan Update: (Erick and Brian) o Tartan Board approved continued dialog on co-op/merger for next year. o Tartan s numbers are down: 4B/3P/3S. There was discussion on creating solid B 1 teams and Tartan felt that timing was too close to tryouts to introduce this. o Cautiously optimistic that this will be good thing going forward. After tryouts are over, consistent committee meetings will be held to move discussions forward. - Fall Clinic Updates previously given. New Business: - Volunteer Hours Reminder: o All Coaches, Managers, Board Members, everybody is eligible to get the rebates as long as 10 hours are for concession or volunteer (10 points of volunteer hours can equal a maximum of $100.00 (after initial 12 hours is completed for those required)). - Last week Erick, Mike, Brian, and Dan conducted Coaching interviews. o Had some pretty solid candidates for head coaches and some good interest for assistant coaches. ** Motion to Approve two head coaches for Squirts top team of Kurt Ronquist and Brian Hartman: 1 st Dan McClenahan, 2 nd Yucel Ozel, unanimously approved. ** Motion to Approve co-head coaches for PeeWee top team of Troy Glaus: 1 st Dan McClenahan, 2 nd Dennis Greeley, unanimously approved. ** Motion to Approve head coaches for Bantam top team of Mike Simon: 1 st Dan McClenahan, 2 nd Brian Hartman, unanimously approved. ACTION ITEMS: Christy needs list of names for all the coaches, team managers, and 2 to 3 locker room monitors for each level. Everyone will need to get background screening done. Christy will send Dan the direct link from MN Hockey to forward on to the coaches for screening.

- 4 Returning PeeWee A Players: This year we will only have a PeeWee B1 level. ** Motion to Approve/Allow 4 Returning PeeWee A Players to try out for the Bantam B1 Team if they have interest. If they make the top 8 they can stay at Bantam B1 level. If not, they will automatically go back to the top PeeWee team: 1 st Brian Hartman, 2 nd Dennis Greeley, Yucel opposed. Motion carries. (Erick will speak with Tim to look at putting a rule change in place that would allow this change at all levels.) - Right now we have 1 PeeWee Goalie. If we do not have another goalie, how do we handle it? Do we try to find a C Goalie? Do we allow one of our Squirt Goalies to move up, or should we allow Tartan B Goalie to auto waiver in as PeeWee B1 Goalie. We may need to have an emergency meeting on this (requirements must have 4 or 5 officers present). - Equipment Needs/Storage: Focus on on-ice equipment, i.e. cones, tires, rings, etc. Mike to work w/peasley look to set up lock box for stuff. ACTION: Mike to make a list of needs and forward to Cassandra, Brian, Dan, and Erick and Julie. - 3x3 Ice Boards: USA Hockey is promoting ½ ice. For our 3:3 league, we could have 4 teams on ice, put divider up, and keep ice here, it s great for jamborees, and takes about 10-15 min. to put up. Mike will get more information from USA Hockey on discount price, etc. (approx. $12,500 discounted down to $7,500 in cost). - If you know of anyone who is interested in being Board Secretary, replacing Julie Lauer, please let Erick know as soon as possible. Julie will continue as Secretary in the event there is no other interest. Julie will not be participating in additional volunteer hours at tournaments. Members Forum: - Nothing to report at this time. ** Motion to Adjourn: 1 st Dennis Greeley, 2 nd Yucel Ozel, unanimously approved.

NORTH ST. PAUL AREA HOCKEY ASSOCIATION ADDENDUM to the September 18, 2013 Board of Directors Meeting Minutes The Player Development Committee made the following recommendation for this year regarding Squirts and Mites: Look at fielding two teams at the Squirt level, but this would require some Mites move up. Due to D2 rules regarding the number of underage player on one team, we would need to allow Mite eligible kids to try out with the Squirts. If any Mite makes the Squirt B Team, they would be required to pay the Squirt fee in full as well as the team fees for that team. If the Mite wants to move up but only to the Squirt C Team, they will not be required to pay the difference between Squirts and Mites, but would be responsible for team fees. **The proposal was passed 9-2, with four non-votes.
