The start was further delayed when EIGHT FIGURES initially proved difficult to load and was then fractious in the barriers. Trainer K. Schweida was advised that a warning would be placed on the colts's barrier manners. ELEGIES - Slow to begin. JOSHUA'S MIGHT - Began awkwardly. SOVEREIGN OF HAITI - Raced wide in the early stages. GRAZIO - Raced wide throughout. Race 2: Simon Says Landscaping QTIS 2YO Maiden Plate - 900m 1st - Powerful Saga 2nd - Plan Red 3rd - Capitanear 4th - Azores
BENZOIN - Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Jockey T. Treichel reported that the gelding was inclined to hang out for the majority of the race and then raced greenly in the home straight. Trainer S. Morrisey was advised that BENZOIN must barrier trial prior to its next start. POWERFUL SAGA - Slow to begin. CAPITANEAR - Slow to begin. STITCHEN TIME - Raced greenly in the home straight. REVERSE LOGIC - Steadied near the 150m when tightened for room by STITCHEN TIME. Race 3: Sports Super Centre Class 1 H'Cap - 900m 1st - Gold Buttons 2nd - Vivid Imagination 3rd - Pocillo 4th - Vainacious VIVID IMAGINATION - Began awkwardly. Momentarily held up upon straightening. FAMOUS GROUSE - Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Shifted in and bumped VAINACIOUS near the 700m. VAINACIOUS - Slow to begin. Bumped by FAMOUS GROUSE near the 700m. Near the 200m was obliged to steady and shift to the outside of LITTLE RED HEN in order to improve. Lost an off side fore plate in running. WALTER - Held up rounding the home turn. LITTLE RED HEN - Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. POCILLO - Raced wide throughout. JUST A CRACKER - Raced wide throughout. Race 4: WSM Performance Parts Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden H'Cap - 1200m 1st - The Monk 2nd - Elmotino 3rd - Benico's Prince 4th - Whose Else's Jockey A. Allen was fined $100.00 when dually engaged on ZAMBERNEER and WHOSE ELSE'S. J. Morris subsequently replaced A. Allen as the rider of ZAMBERNEER. The start of this race was delayed when the surcingle on ZAMBERNEER became undone when being loaded resulting in the gelding having to be removed whilst the gear was rectified. ZAMBERNEER - Slow to begin and shortly thereafter lost ground when tightened for room. ROCKTOBER - Lost ground when tightened for room shortly after the start. THE MONK - Began awkwardly and shifted out. Jockey G. Cooksley that the gelding had a tendency to hang out for the majority of the race. WHOSE ELSE'S - Near the 500m had to be steadied and lost ground when tightened for room between SPECIAL JAY and THE MONK, which was hanging out. Difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight. OFFIAH - Momentarily held up upon straightening. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
SPECIAL JAY - Had to be steadied when tightened for room between WHOSE ELSE'S and BENICO'S PRINCE near the winning post. Raced wide for the majority. BENICO'S PRINCE - Laid in in the home straight resulting in jockey El-Issa having to stop riding and straighten near the 200m and again near the winning post. Jockey B. El-Issa reported that the gelding raced ungenerously throughout the race and leaving the 900m commenced to overrace resulting in it shifting wider on the track and then racing wide from that point onwards. G. Cooksley (THE MONK) fined $100.00 for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. Following the running of this race G. Cooksley was stood down by the Club's doctor after being examined by the ambulance officers and replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 5: The Marshmallow Man Cup Colts, Geldings & Entires Maiden H'Cap - 1200m 1st - Windsea 2nd - Sir Albert 3rd - Ruffo 4th - Fedson As J. Stanley was late arriving oncourse due to transport difficulties stewards permitted M. Hellyer to be substituted as the rider of SPUR CHANGE. PLAY QUEST - Checked and lost ground when tightened for room at the start. SPUR CHANGE - Steadied and lost ground when tightened for room at the start. REAL CHOICE - Bumped and lost ground shortly after the start. A post race veterinary examination of REAL CHOICE revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer R. Lipp was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced prior to REAL CHOICE racing again. BINGO MAGIC - Began awkwardly and shifted out. RUFFO - Began awkwardly. SIR ALBERT - Slow to begin. WINDSEA - Hung in for the majority of the home straight and in doing so made contact with the running rail on a number of occasions. HENNRAY - A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer J. Morrisey reported that the horse had previously undergone tieback surgery and in his opinion may be better suited over shorter distances. Mr Morrisey indicated that he may experiment with the addition of blinkers prior to its next start. Race 6: Coastal Tipper Hire QTIS 3YO Class 2 H'Cap - 1300m 1st - Cantbuybetter 2nd - Red Bowers 3rd - Castanita 4th - Dramatic Saga DRAMATIC SAGA - Near the 50m had to be steadied when tightened for room. B. El-Issa the rider of RED BOWERS pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that passing the 50m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of DRAMATIC SAGA, resulting in that filly having to be steadied away from
the heels of RED BOWERS. B. El-Issa's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) meetings to commence midnight 8 February 2015 and expire midnight 20 February 2015. RED BOWERS - When questioned as to the tactics adopted jockey El-Issa stated that he was instructed to obtain a midfield position however, from the wide barrier was obliged to restrain the gelding in order to obtain a position with cover further back in the field. Stable representative S. Hunter confirmed the instructions and noted that the gelding had settled in a similar position at its previous 2 starts. The explanation was noted. Race 7: TRI-SPORT Fillies & Mares Maiden H'Cap - 1200m 1st - Shattering 2nd - Miss War Trace 3rd - Miss Bella Rosa 4th - Vision Of Hope As App A. Fancourt and App A. Collett were late arriving on course stewards permitted App T. Williams (DEE MINISHING) and C. Whiteley (SISTER WHISKEY) to be substituted as riders. DEE MINISHING - Slow to begin and was hampered shortly after. Steadied from heels near the 1100m. Near the 200m bumped by PRECIOUS METALS. GEORGETTE - Hampered on jumping away. Near the 1100m steadied from heels. MORINGA'S TOOTSIE - Began awkwardly. Steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of SISTER WHISKEY near the 1100m. COURT CAFÉ - Unable to muster any early speed and trailed the field for some distance during the early and middle stages. VISION OF HOPE - Held up rounding home turn. SHATTERING - Held up rounding home turn. MISS WAR TRACE - Held up rounding the home turn and early stages of the home straight. PRECIOUS METALS - Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have suffered a bleeding attack during the event. Trainer S. Jones was advised that the mare will incur a mandatory 3 month ban from racing and must compete in a 1000m gallop before racing again. Following the running of this race K. Wharton was stood down by the Club's doctor and replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 8: Corporate Challenge Events Class 2 H'Cap - 1400m 1st - She's A Danica 2nd - Brigadoon Legend 3rd - Pure Shores 4th - Apache Sox Trainer T. Bailey was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of App. A. Fancourt as the rider of HABSBURG. As no other senior rider was available stewards permitted App N. Masuda to be substituted as the rider of APACHE SOX. RHAEGO - Slow to begin. LANIKAI MISS - Slow to begin. Near the 50m had to steady from the heels of LUCK AND
FAME and shifted in. When questioned as to the overall performance of the mare jockey Morris stated that despite his efforts it was unable to muster sufficient speed in the early and middle stages and as a result trailed the field. Jockey Morris added that the mare began to improve into the race from a point leaving the 500m and in his opinion finished the race off well. Jockey Morris was of the view that the mare would appreciate a step up in distance. Jockey Morris also indicated that the mare may benefit from the removal of winkers and the addition of blinkers. BURNING SAILS - Began very awkwardly and lost ground. PURE SHORES - Began awkwardly. ARGIE'S HEART - Inconvenienced near the 400m. HABSBURG - Raced wide throughout. APACHE SOX - Raced wide throughout. SHE WHO KNOWS - Raced wide throughout. TROPHIES - A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled during the event. As this was the second occasion on which TROPHIES had bled trainer S. Jones was advised that the gelding will incur a lifetime ban from racing. Following the running of this race the track was downgraded to a Soft 6. Race 9: Goldcoastwebsites.com.au BenchMark 75 H'Cap - 1200m 1st - Schillacking 2nd - Four Strings 3rd - Aquatorial 4th - Vienne MISHANI EDGE - Slow to begin. AQUATORIAL - Slow to begin. CONGO - Leaving the 500m had to be steadied and lost ground when placed in restrictive room between FOUR STRINGS and SCHILLACKING. Following the running of this race the track was downgraded to a Soft 7 retrospective. Race 10: Lady Elliot Island Class 1 H'Cap - 1200m 1st - Aquator 2nd - Lochlee 3rd - Duilio 4th - Chairman's Vote DUILIO - Dislodged App Collett on the way to the barriers and after travelling a short distance was recaptured, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
