Kia ora koutou Tomorrow is Holy Thursday. Jesus met with his friends, the Apostles, to have the traditional Passover Feast on this day over 2000 years ago. A feast celebrated by all Jewish people. They shared unleavened bread and wine together in the spirit of this tradition. This is always remembered as the first Mass, and our modern Mass is based around this tradition. Jesus talked about his looming death with the Apostles, and he washed their feet to show his love and respect for them. Jesus went with his friends to pray in a garden nearby, and this is where he was identified top the Roman soldiers, by one of his friends thus beginning his trial and death. Here are the Caritas Lenten Challenges for the next two weeks: Tomorrow, the children will present the story of the Stations of the Cross to all of you. Please join us in the hall at 1.30pm tomorrow, to support the children. Term One Satisfaction Survey Thank you to the 10 people who have completed the online Satisfaction Survey. Please take some time to share your feedback. In the survey, you are invited to write your name (optional). Some parents have described concerns that I would like us to follow up, but they haven t written their name on the survey. Please be aware that if you do not write your name, we will not be able to follow up on your concerns, specifically. All responses, as always, will be carefully considered as part of our self-review process, in a general sense so that we can improve our practice: https://goo.gl/forms/enhiu2ufobr7cfa03 Safety Concerns Biking, Scooters, walking, cars Just a friendly reminder to look out for our children on their bikes / scooters. Children don t always make good, safe choices when riding / walking. It is up to adult drivers to watch out for them around schools. Thanks for your support with this. Mentoring: A side-by-side partnership Come along for a coffee and chat tomorrow morning. Held in Ruma Kowhai beside the quad, near the junior block of the school. Have a very Happy Easter Mary-Angela Tombs

We wanted to share another milestone on Ash (Matai) & Jaden's (Totara) judo achievements. Ashley & Jaden just competed for the Wellington Open Judo Tournament in Kapiti (25/03/2018). This tournament is one of the major competitions leading to the National Tournament in November. Aside from the usual Wellington region judokas, competitors on this tournament came from other regions such as Auckland, Palmerston North & Christchurch. Both were successful and got Gold Medals on their respective weight categories (Jaden/24kgs & Ashley/32kgs). Jaden got another medal in Bronze for fighting in the 28kgs category. TO : Kace from Rūma Totara. Kace recently competed in the Discus throw at the AWJC Track & Field Junior Champs at Newtown park. Congratulations to Kace who got a silver medal in the Grade 9 discus throwing 25.38 m. Way to go Kace! The Barrett brothers were real keen to have their photo taken with Kace! Goooo the Canes!

Movie success: Thanks to all those who came along to the Peter Rabbit movie fundraiser on the weekend - it was a great turnout with about 150 coming along to support the event. Kids and adults alike loved the movie and we raised around $1200 which is a great effort. Big thanks to Maria who led this fundraiser on behalf of FOST, and also thanks to our sponsors New World Karori, Brumbys Karori, and Bohemein Chocolates. Walkathon: The annual walkathon is scheduled for Monday April 9 (note this is different to the previously advertised date) at Karori Park. This year's theme is Sports so dress in the get-up of your sporting code of choice or as your favourite sports star. We do need helpers to mark off the laps on the day so please contact Jane Edmonds on jane.edmonds@gmail.com if you can help.
