Presidents Message Well I am now the proud owner of a 1984 928s. The interesting part of this is that I was able to use craigslist to work a trade for a boat that I had. The previous owner of the car and I worked the details of the deal. We then realized we had done business before. He had bought some MSU football tickets from me before. I had advertised them through the club email. He was a member of Motorstadt. This was one of those fairy-tale type trades. We traded straight up and both sides we happy with the results. I got the car home a couple of weeks ago and started working on it. It was not running when I received it. After a few electrical components and fixes it fired right up. What a result! Well May is our big month. We have the Spring Kick-Off and both of our Iroc events. I hope to see you at these events with smiling faces. Motorstadt IROC Practice May 8th, 2009 8:00am. Spartan Speedway Mason Michigan The Motorsatdt Region will hold it s annual Iroc practice at Spartan Speedway. There is a $25.00 registration fee. All participants must sign a waiver. We always need volunteers to help staff the event so bring a friend and come prepared to help out. This is your club and your event! Please Arrive at 8:00am. so we can prepare the track. After the track is set will have a drivers meeting and tech the cars around 10:00am.. If you do not make the drivers meeting you will not be permitted to run. We will walk the track and ensure everyone knows the path. Then the fun begins. We usually wrap up around 3:30-4:00 but we have the track all day. If this is your first time attending an autocross don t worry we have many veterans that can assist you in having a pleasurable experience. Thanks to Terril my wife tried it last year and had a great time. He rode with her and showed her the ropes. This is a no pressure event and all are welcome. We have loaner helmets that you can use. So don t spend $500.00 on a helmet to find out you don t like doing this. Come try it out for $25.00
Spring Kick-Off! Our annual spring Kick-Off resumes this year on May 1st at Harris Nature Center in Okemos. The Harris Nature Center is located at 3998 Van Atta Road Okemos, MI 48864. This event has always signaled the start of our summer events and is a great time to catch up with all of our Porsche friends. The format for this years Kick-Off is like that of years past.! We will begin at 11:00 with the people"s choice, show and shine concors event. Bring you car looking right and you could walk away with one of our three prizes. We will be awarding a $75.00 gift certificate to Eastwood Towne Centre for first place and $50.00 for second and $25.00 for third. It is always interesting to see who wins. Wins have come in the past from antique Porsches as well as new models with extremely shiny wheels. It is anyone"s game.! We will serve lunch at 12:00 with the smokey flavor of pulled pork or sliced brisket sandwiches. We will also have baked beans and potato salad. Lunch will cost $5.00 per person with children under 12 free. We would ask that you please RSVP with the number of people that you are bringing and who in your group would like beef or pork. You can RSVP to Jordan Miller at 517-694-3654 or email uthjazz@sbcglobal.net! We will hold our almost-world-famous white elephant auction at 1:00. This event is how we raise some of the funds for our outings during the year, including our auto-cross events. We will continue to donate half of the auctions proceeds to the Greater Lansing Food bank. We ask that you bring something fun, interesting, odd, or car related to auction. Come and support your club, and your community.! The Motorstadt board has put a lot of effort into this event and we would really like to see as many Porsches and their owners as we can.
