Your President, Peter Dix wishes all Clubs and their members a successful year and is looking forward to meeting as many members as possible during the year. President Peter also wishes success to our National Pairs Champions, Sue and Ellen who will be representing England at the British Isle Championships in June to be held at St Vincent BC. Glasgow on Tuesday 18 th June. The first round game is against Ireland starting at 13.45. I have also attached the diary for 2014. Please share this with members of your Club it may be helpful, in arranging next year s diaries and or holidays. Clearly the 2013 diary issued at lasts years spring council meeting did not get to some members. 1 Bowls Cambridgeshire Council Meeting. I hereby give notice to hold a meeting of the Council. Venue: Cambridge & County BC Date: Sunday 07 th April 2013 Time: 10:30 Only Club delegates (two per club) or their Deputies are allowed to attend. Agenda and minutes of the last Council meeting attached. The County and National handbooks will be available for collection at the meeting. It is important to make sure you make arrangements for your handbooks to be picked up if you are unable to attend the Council meeting. The County cannot be held responsible for handbooks not collected. 2 Officers. We still have vacancies for Senior Vice President (Woman), Match officials both genders. It is vital that we fill the roles of Match officials as this may compromise the future of County friendlies. Tony Taylor has offered to look after the men s friendlies for this year. Job descriptions have been circulated, however it is proposed to discuss at the Council meeting the help County will provide to the Presidential team and officers. Kind regards Charles

Action 3 Matters arising None 4 Eastern Counties BA report Tony reported that Bedfordshire won the League, Suffolk the Under 30 s Cambridge & County BC triple of J Stewart, A Nightingale, I Miller reached the final but was unsuccessful against a strong Norfolk triple. The Council meeting will be held in October. 5 Middle England League report Sue reported the league was won by Leicestershire. The league dinner will be held 7 th November. 6 Competition diary (issued at the April Council meeting) The 2013 diary was re-issued at the meeting as some members stated they had not had sight of the diary at the Club. It was reported that it was helpful and hopefully avoid possible dates clashing. 7 Junior Vice President No nominations received. Sue and Tony explained the support the County provide to the Presidential team. The County is blessed with members who would make ideal Presidents; if anyone wishes further information please contact any member of the Presidential team. It was reported that the office is very rewarding. 8 Vacancies for other Executive posts SVP:- Job description circulated and discussed Vice Chair Fixture Secretary :- Job descriptions circulated and discussed Match official women:- as above Match official men :- as above 9 County Coach/Development report Charles read Peter s report to the meeting, which included the BDA coaching proposals. The upgrading of coaches, and an offer to attend clubs. 10 Bowls England report Feasibility study into the Men s National Championships and the HQ was underway. The BE EGM will vote on the feasibility study proposals. The men s Eastern Selector has resigned. John Ottaway & Bob Morton have confirmed they will be putting their names forward, closing date for nomination is early October.
11 Any other business A plea was made to Clubs. If they have members wishing to become umpires the County will pay for the costs for the course and exams. (Apply to the County Secretary) Website more use of the website is envisaged. The meeting confirmed the website was helpful to members. John reported on green loans. Notes Conference 2012 From Charles Frederick Date Saturday 22 nd September 2012 Venue Fordham BC BOWLS CAMBRIDGESHIRE The Conference records show that 40 members signed the register. Representing 21 Clubs. 1 The Chair Sue Alexander welcomed the members to the conference stating a number of first achieved by Bowls Cambridgeshire since the Association of founded in 2009. The conference is held so members who are not Council members of Bowls Cambridgeshire can have a say on topics. 2 Match report. Barbara presented a summary of games played throughout the season. It was felt that the fixtures should remain under revue. The support for away matches was a concern. The match committee to look at pickup points when coaches are hired. Both Barbara and John have indicated that they do not wish to be considered for election at the AGM. The Secretary thanked both Barbara and John for all they have done for BC. Job descriptions are available for members to take to Clubs. The President played in a men s friendly match the first woman County President to play and take a match. 3 Finance Val gave an overview of the County funds. Various bank accounts hold approx. 30k. A loss is project on the Income and expenditure of 1,700. This is similar to last year. A question on why does the County need funds of 30K and is does the County have a policy on finance. It was explained that each committee produce a budget. The finance committee reviews committee budgets. Committee chairs may make financial bid to the Executive as appropriate. Clubs may request financial assistance for various projects. 4 Competitions Dot reported that a full review of competitions and dates has been carried out and circulated to Clubs. Questions raised had been covered by the review. The County league will discussed following the Council. The secretary listed the outstanding performances by Bowls Cambridgeshire players at the National Championships. The President Sue and Ellen topping the list as National Pairs Champions. A request that county finals should allow time for players to break and have some refreshments before starting next games. 5 General Purposes John reported a poor take up of the luncheon tickets to date. Reminder to go back to clubs that players and clubs that were successful should attend to pick up awards. Uniform for County senior games had been well received. It was hoped that the friendly games would follow. A question regarding the travelling shirts was raised. Negotiation into the future of the sponsorship is on going. Members may order the white polo shirts from Touchline. A waterproof jacket to be sourced. Further to a question it was made clear that the waterproofs if purchased did not form part of the County uniform and will be available
as an optional purchase. The new website is a great success and viewed by may players throughout England. 6 Coaching and Development The Secretary read a report from Peter who will be out of action due to surgery on his shoulder. Peter had attended a number of Clubs and is working to get a coach for every club. The floor commented on the how helpful they found Peter when he attended Clubs. 7 Bowls England Members may find the Club Leaders pages on the BE website useful. Civil liability insurance, and insurance linked to membership was discussed. The Secretary thanks those Clubs that had supported VIBE with the Big Spider week. Val reported that the County had raised 329:50 for VIBE. 8 Open Forum Skips and score cards was raised. Whilst the laws of the Sport state the skip shall keep the scorecard. In domestic play there does not appear to be a penalty if the skip does not do the scorecard. The President thanked those attending and formally closed the conference.
