IUP WBB to Play UCONN in the 2010-2011 Season Coach Dow has completed a contract to play the 2009 NCAA Champions. Possibly the most prominent team in the women s college game has agreed to play the IUP Crimson Hawks next season. UCONN proved themselves as the best team in the country last year by capturing their sixth NCAA championship while winning all 39 games for their third perfect season. It is certainly a tremendous honor for our program to have the chance to play the UConn Huskies next season, Dow said. It will be a special opportunity for our players to compete against a program the The IUP Women s Basketball team is set to play 2009 Division I magnitude and national stature of the University National Champion UConn on November 10, 2010 in Storrs, of Connecticut. Jahzinga Tracey Achieves Continued Success Playing Professionally in Germany In July, former IUP standout Jahzinga Tracey signed a contract to play for the Eisvoegel e.v. Basketball Club, a member of the Damen-Basketball-Bundesliga, the top professional women s league in Germany. I really like it here says Tracey. There are some things I still need to get used to like the food, the traffic rules, and of course the language but my teammates and coaches are really great. Jahzinga is averaging nearly a double-double for the top team in the league with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals per game. Season Outlook: IUP WBB Nationally Ranked Entering the 2009-2010 Season After capturing their third consecutive PSAC Championship last season, the Crimson Hawks return a squad full of seasoned veterans and talented newcomers. With the loss of 4 seniors (including two-time All-American and current pro-player Jahzinga Tracey) the Hawks remain ranked nationally at number 19 in the DII Bulletin Preseason Poll along with PSAC West rivals Cal U (5) and Gannon (21). It is extremely flattering to have that type of recognition in a pre-season poll but we understand that it is just that, a pre-season poll. We recognize that it will be a tremendous challenge for us to repeat as PSAC champions for a fourth consecutive year. It has certainly helped to have six returning players from last year s team to provide guidance to our newcomers, and in particular, our freshmen. Our players have worked extremely hard in the pre-season to achieve the type of success that this program has grown accustomed to the past three years, said Head Coach Jeff Dow. This season s roster additions include five freshmen and two Division I transfers. 2 Katelyn Marshall G 5-6 FR Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton 3 Jill Perdue F 6-0 FR Abingdon, Va./Oak Hill Academy 4 Julie Lozon G 5-7 JR South Russell, Ohio/Hathaway Brown 5 Lauren Taylor G 5-7 FR Toledo, Ohio/Clay 11 Kierstin Filla G 5-5 SR Chardon, Ohio/Chardon 12 Brianna Johnson F 5-11 FR Fairfax, Va./Oakton 14 Vianca Tejeda G/F 5-10 SO Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill 20 Sylvie Tafen F 6-2 SR Yaounde, Cameroon/Mount de Chantal Academy (W.Va.) 21 Tara Powers F 5-10 SO Ford City, Pa./Ford City 22 Eryn Withers G 5-9 JR Burtonsville, Md./Springbrook 24 Amber Dubyak G 5-8 JR Hastings, Pa./Cambria Heights 30 Hillary Shope F 5-11 SR Saltillo, Pa./Southern Huntingdon 32 Lacey Claar G 5-6 JR Imler, Pa./Claysburg-Kimmel 42 Sarah Pastorek F 5-11 FR Johnstown, Pa./Bishop McCort

Each player will gather the sponsors on their pledge forms and will need your name, address, e-mail, telephone number, and pledge per shot amount (or flat donation). After we shoot the free throws on November 17 and the total pledge is calculated, the student - athlete will contact you to collect the donation.
