Life of A Social studies teacher BRAWLEY NEWSPAPER by-maddie Hucker and Mallory Weller We interviewed some 6th grade Social Studies teachers to see how they like their job. Mrs. Krivanek- Mallory and Maddie- How did you Mrs. Krivanek-. I taught ELA for 19 Mrs. Aldridge. Mallory and Maddie- What unit is Mrs. Krivanek- My favorite unit is students about my experiences. I have been to Rome two times, and I like to tell my that kids don t take Social Studies as importantly as it should be taken? that it is just hard for them to relate to things that happened so long

Mrs. Storace- Mallory and Maddie- How did you become interested in teaching Social Studies? Mrs. Storace- I came here for a job, because there was an ELA opening. There was also an opening for Social Studies. That is why I teach both subjects. I love learning about Social Studies, I think it is very interesting. Mallory and Maddie- What is your favorite unit to teach? Mrs. Storace- I think it has to be Ancient Egypt. I just really enjoy it, because there is so much to it. Plus all of the kids get to do projects with it, and they love to do projects. Mallory and Maddie- Do feel that kids don t take Social Studies as important as it is? Mrs. Storace- I actually feel that my kids really enjoy Social Studies. I think that they take it seriously. Mrs. Aldridge- Maddie and Mallory-How did you become interested in teaching Social Studies? Mrs. Aldridge- I like the subject, and time period it covers. Maddie and Mallory-. What unit is your favorite to teach. Mrs. Aldridge-Egypt because it is weird and mysterious. Maddie and Mallory-Do you feel that kids don t take social studies as important as it is? Mrs.Aldridge-No, I think that my kids take it serious and try very hard.

Have you Heard the News??? BMS has welcomed Mr. Culbreth into the 7th Grade! So, if you don t know much about him, keep reading What he teaches: Science What grade he teaches: 7th Grade What made you come to Brawley? It is close to home and I like the staff, teachers and students here at Brawley. I have taught here before and, interestingly, I attended Brawley when I was in middle school! What is your favorite grade to teach? 7th Grade What college did you go to? NC State University for my Bachelors Degree and Gardner-Webb University for my Masters Degree. What is your favorite way to teach? Hands-on with experiments, activities and projects whenever possible. Have you always enjoyed science the most? Yes, Science has always been a favorite of mine along with Math Celebrity Survey A lot of people have different favorite artist. We came up with a survey asking which female celebrity singer out of Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, and Katy Perry is their favorite. We then asked out of Justin Bieber, Drake, and Shawn Mendes is their favorite. We asked a total of 100 students. The results were Female Artists: Ariana Grande: 50 Selena Gomez: 34 Katy Perry: 16 Male Artists: Justin Bieber: 33 Drake: 35 Shawn Mendes: 32

The winners were Ariana with 50 votes and Drake with 35 votes. Here s a little about the winners Ariana Grande-Butera was born on June 26, 1993, in Bocaton Florida. Her current age is 22 years old. She started in Broadway and moved to Nickelodeon and started in 2 hit TV shows. She then released her debut album, Yours Truly. She has another album, My Everything, which had 4 singles before it even came out! Bang Bang, Problem, Break Free, Love Me Harder. After it came out her song One Last Time also became a single. She recently release a single, Focus, for her new album called Dangerous Women. It is not out and there isn t a release date yet! Drake- Drake s full name is Aubrey Drake Graham, is a Canadian artist. He was born October 24, 1986. He has 12 albums and numbers of singles. He is best known for his single Hotline Bling. Topping the charts for weeks. Also Jumpman and Big Rings are just 2 other singles that have made him as big as he is. He is also known for his crazy dance in the Hotline Bling music video. He will have more music to come trust me! Girls Soccer Brawley recently held the soccer tryouts for the 2016 season.the girls tried out on Friday February 26 and Monday,February 28.They added 18 girls, including Ashley Harrison and Sarah Tuttle. We asked them a few questions: Ashley Harrison- 1.Do you play on a soccer team outside of school? Yes I play for LNSC 2.What did you have to do for tryouts? Dribbling, shooting, defending, scrimmaging and a lot of running. 3.How did you find out you made the soccer team? Mrs. Baldwin had it posted on her website. Kerri Coffman 1. Were there a lot of people trying out? Yes. 35 2.Do you play for a team outside of school? Yes, I m on a club team. 3.Were you on the team last year? No. I didn t try out last year Sara Tuttle 1.Do you play on a soccer team outside of school? Yes I play for LNSC. 2.What time did you get on your mile? I got 5:45. 3.What position do you play? I play left forward.

Boys Soccer Brawley s boys soccer tryouts just ended and they can t wait to start the season! To try out you had to have an up to date physical. At tryouts the boys had to run a mile and do some drills and do one on one trying to kick the ball into the goal. The boys soccer tryouts were held on the soccer field and the tryouts were February 24 and the 25th from 3:30 to 5:00.There were 2 cuts so if you made the first cut you went to the second and if you made the second you were on the team.the coach for the boys soccer team is Mr. Baldwin.We hope all the boys had a fun time trying out even if you didn't make it!
