During that time you will be practicing skills for soccer and being evaluated by the coaching staff. After the 3 week intramural period is over the coaches get together and decide on a competitive team to play the season against other middle schools. Each roster will contain roughly 20 players each for both the boys and girl s teams. The boys are always having fun, staying competitive, and are so close to winning a championship. A close loss in last year s championship game kept them from winning it all but they had a lot of fun and will be trying to get back to the finals. Coach Dina is a soccer guru and very good with skill improvement and fundamentals. The girls soccer team is used to being in the newspaper for being such a dominating force. They have won the county championship 3 out of the past 5 years. These girls are hardworking, skilled, and so fun to be around. The girls were runner up this past year against Marco Charter 2-1. We still celebrated and will be back competing for the trophy next year. We will keep working hard and having fun while we do it. There is also the option to keep more for the practice squad to continue to build on skills and due to injuries throughout the season. The boys are doing great under returning coach Fady Fakhoury and Mike Osmers. They were undefeated this year until they lost in the finals to Oak Ridge. They are getting better each year building skills and getting that much closer to a county championship. The girls basketball team is also doing well improving under coach Mike Osmers. Fady Fahkoury will be joining him this year to help coach the girls team as well. Spring Sports- Mid-March through April. Schedule Coming Soon Boys and Girls Track and Field are taking place during our spring sports season. Come out and be a part of a great sports program to have fun and compete with your friends and against other middle schools. Track and Field is hosted outside on the track. Boys and Girls Track and Field- Everyone can come to participate and be a part of one of the best track and field teams around. At PRMS we offer the running events in track which include sprints, mid distance, relays, and long distance runs. We also offer field events such as shot put, discus, and long jump. There will be many events to participate in whether you are a competitive athlete, or would like to simply participate for fun and stay in shape. There are many roster adjustments through the year so everyone can continue to participate and be a part of the team, but ultimately there are limited spots on the roster for certain events. In those limited areas the coaches will place the best of the best in those slots to earn points for the team and also qualify the athletes to continue to compete for a county championship. There are also open races for anyone to join in such as the 1 mile and 2 mile run. The boys and girl s teams did an awesome job this year and we sent a great group of kids to compete in the county championship held at Palmetto Ridge High School. This was great for them to individually compete against the best in the county and to see that they were the top 8 competitors in this entire area. We had a few athletes qualify at the county championship for the state track meet held at the IMG Academy in Bradenton Florida. Our coaches do a great job of keeping practices fun, but also keep in mind we are there to work hard and get better as the season goes on. We will teach you the fundamentals of racing, field events, and help you improve as the season progresses to help you succeed. Come and join in on the fun and be a part of the PRMS Track and Field team. Please also let me welcome Mrs. Hill and Mr. Martinez to the track team as official coaches. Coaches: Mike Osmers, Rob Clark, Brittany Hill, Travis Martinez Practice and Schedule TBA
