The Conotton Valley Union Local School District Board of Education met in session on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conotton Valley High School Board of Education office. Present at roll call were Rob Higgenbotham, Debbie Carrothers, Logan Putnam and Kevin Willoughby. Chris Bower was absent. Also present were Superintendent Jerry T. Herman, Treasurer, Denise Ketchum, Jacquie and John Humphrey, and Mr. DiDonato. Public Participation: None B.O.E. Member Reports: None Superintendent and Buckeye Career Center Reports: Mr. Herman congratulated Charles Griffin for earning Buckeye Career Center student of the month. Treasurer Report: Mrs. Ketchum spoke about the five year forecast that appears on the agenda. 18-278 APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Willoughby moved and Mrs. Carrothers seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the September 20, 2018, regular Board and the September 28, 2018 special Board of Education meeting. Ayes: Mr. Willoughby, Mrs. Carrothers, Mr. Higgenbotham, and Mr. Putnam 18-279 FINANCIAL REPORT Mr. Willoughby moved and Mrs. Carrothers seconded the motion to approve of the September 2018 financial report, with expenditures totaling $ 935,078.32, is requested. Mutual fund balances at September 30, 2018 were $ 2,095,018.45 in Unified Bank and $ 140,019.22 in Star Ohio, earning an average annual yield of 2.15%. The balance in the Star Plus/Building Fund at September 30, 2018 was $ 0.00. Ayes: Mr. Willoughby, Mrs. Carrothers, Mr. Higgenbotham, and Mr. Putnam

18-280 PAYMENT OF BILLS Mr. Willoughby moved and Mrs. Carrothers seconded the motion to approve the payment of bills and any expenditures with then and now certificates, including those with amounts exceeding $3,000.00. Ayes: Mr. Willoughby, Mrs. Carrothers, Mr. Higgenbotham, and Mr. Putnam NEW BUSINESS 18-281 FIELD TRIP APPLICATION Mr. Higgenbotham moved and Mr. Willoughby seconded the motion to approve participation in the Teen Roadeo for high school students at Lake Mohawk on September 26, 2018. 18-282 FIELD TRIP APPLICATION Mr. Higgenbotham moved and Mr. Willoughby seconded the motion to approve participation in Academic (Scholar) Challenge for high school students at Indian Valley High School on October 4, 11, 18, 25 and November 1, 2018.

18-283 FIELD TRIP APPLICATION Mr. Higgenbotham moved and Mr. Willoughby seconded the motion to approve a field trip to the Performing Arts Center at Kent State-Tusc for students in grades 6, 7 and 8 to attend an educational performance of Think Kindness with Brian Williams on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. 18-284 FIELD TRIP APPLICATION Mr. Higgenbotham moved and Mr. Willoughby seconded the motion to approve a field trip for (5) students in grade 5 and (5) students in grade 9 to attend the Young Author s and Illustrator s Conference at Kent State-Tusc on Friday, November 2, 2018. 18-285 CERTIFIED STAFF RETURN TO WORK Mrs. Carrother moved and Mr. Higgenbotham seconded to motion to approve the return to work of Heather Wilson from maternity leave. Heather was originally approved to be off through January 11, 2019 per Resolution #18-169, but will be returning to work on November 5, 2018. 18-286 SUPPLEMENTAL RESIGNATION Mr. Willoughby moved and Mrs. Carrothers seconded the motion to approve the resignation of Lori Daniels as Musical / Play Director for the 2018-2019 school year. 18-288 CERTIFIED STAFF CONTRACT CORRECTION/REIMBURSEMENT Mrs. Carrothers moved and Mr. Willoughby seconded the motion to approve to correct the certified contract of Karlee Dawson from a Bachelor s degree to a Bachelors + 150 hours beginning with the 2016-17 school year when she was hired through the present school year, and to reimburse her for the difference in pay that is due to her. Ayes: Mrs. Carrothers, Mr. Willoughby, Mr. Higgenbotham, and Mr. Putnam 18-289 TUITION REIMBURSEMENT Mr. Higgenbotham moved and Mrs. Carrothers seconded the motion to approve the following tuition reimbursements: Danielle Caldwell 9 Semester Hours $2,250.00 Lindsay Long 5 Semester Hours $ 575.00 Ayes: Mr. Higgenbotham, Mrs. Carrothers, Mr. Willoughby, and Mr. Putnam 18-290 CLASSIFIED CONTRACT RENEWAL Mr. Willoughby moved and Mr. Higgenbotham seconded the motion to approve a continuing contract to Diane Byrd as a classroom aide, effective October 28, 2018. Ayes: Mr. Willoughby, Mr. Higgenbotham, Mrs. Carrothers, and Mr. Putnam Mr. Bower entered meeting at 8:20 p.m.

18-291 BASEBALL/SOFTBALL FIELD LIGHTING Mr. Higgenbotham moved and Mr. Bower seconded the motion to approve a turnkey quote from Musco Sports Lighting, LLC. for lighting the baseball and softball fields, with installation by Wood Electric, as presented at a cost of $396,900.00. Ayes: Mr. Higgenbotham, Mr. Bower, Mrs. Carrothers, Mr. Willoughby, and Mr. Putnam 18-292 SUPPLEMENTAL CONTRACT Mrs. Carrothers moved and Mr. Willoughby seconded the motion to approve Mike Winland as Jr. High Girls Basketball Coach for the 2018-2019 school year. Ayes: Mrs. Carrothers, Mr. Willoughby, Mr. Higgenbotham, Mr. Bower, and Mr. Putnam 18-293 FIELD TRIP APPLICATION Mr. Willoughby moved and Mr. Putnam seconded the motion to approve a a field trip for students in grades K-5 to attend a Class Act performance of Hillbilly Silly Science Spectacular at the Performing Arts Center at KSU-Tusc on January 29, 2019.
