Games against the host Redhawks of Miami (OH) and IUPUI follow on Sunday and Monday, respectively. Green Bay enters Saturday s contest at 1-1 overall after falling Wednesday at Marquette, 89-69. The Phoenix were led in that game by senior Bryquis Perine, who had 21 points and is averaging 16 per game through two contests. Senior Rahmon Fletcher was held to eight points against Marquette, but the guard went over 1,200 career points in the game. He was named to the Preseason All-Horizon League team prior to the season. Currently ranked No. 25 nationally in the Associated Press Top-25 poll, San Diego State enters Saturday s contest after a 79-76 victory over No. 11/12 Gonzaga last Tuesday night. The long Aztec frontline led the way in the win over the Zags, with 6-foot-8 Billy White scoring 30 points and 6-foot-7 sophomore Kawhi Leonard had 18 points and 12 rebounds. Leonard was the Mountain West Freshman of the Year in 2009-10. Saturday s contest will be the first meeting between Green Bay and San Diego State. The Phoenix is 2-2 all-time against Miami (OH) and 3-1 in four meetings against IUPUI. Green Bay was 2-2 in neutral site games a season ago. GREEN BAY PROBABLE STARTERS No. Name Pos. Ht. Yr. The point total was also the smallest for a Phoenix foe since Green Bay defeated East Carolina 63-36 on Dec. 8, 1998. The team s 39-point margin of victory is the largest for the Phoenix since downing Northern Michigan 106-58 on Dec. 29, 2005. Williams had 10 points and six rebounds against Minnesota Duluth while Baker had 11 points Wednesday at Marquette. BLOCK PARTY Freshman Alec Brown had six blocks in his college debut, just one shy of the program s single-game record of seven set by Nate Barnes against Northern Iowa on Dec. 11, 1982. The 7-foot-1 Brown added seven points and six rebounds in just 18 minutes. He scored 17 points in the team s exhibition victory over Edgewood on Nov. 8. IN THE SCORING COLUMN Five different Green Bay players scored their first collegiate points Saturday. Williams (10), Brown (7), Derek Semenas (6), Clayton Heuer (6) and Baker (4). Green Bay had six different players corral six or more rebounds - sophomore Troy Snyder (8), senior Greg LeSage (7), Baker (6), Brown (6), Perine (6) and Williams (6). MOVING ON UP With 1,201 career points, Fletcher is only 158 points away from cracking the program s top-10 all-time scoring list. Fletcher is currently 15th all-time. If the senior matched his 2009-10 scoring output, he would end his career as the fifth-leading scorer to wear a Phoenix jersey. JOIN THE CLUB Perine is only 349 points away from joining Fletcher in the program s 1,000-point club. As a junior in 2009-10, Perine scored 442 points in averaging 13.4 points per contest. I LL TAKE THAT The senior currently has 151 steals in his Phoenix career, and with two more steals will tie Gary Grzesk for fifth on the program s alltime steals list. THE PERINE MACHINE While teammate Rahmon Fletcher earned a spot on the preseason all-conference squad, senior Bryquis Perine is focused on joining him at the end of the season. Perine averaged a career-best 13.4 points per game in 2009-10 while starting 33 games. It is not all about scoring for Perine, who ranked fourth in the Horizon League in assists per game (4.2) RESERVE ROLE As a freshman, Seth Evans played an important role off the bench for the Phoenix, playing in all 35 games Evans ranked eighth in the HL in threepoint percentage, hitting 40 percent from long range (34-85).
