Knights Newsletter R I V E R R I D G E A T H L E T I C S. O R G April 16, 2018 Our Students Are Awesome... It is real easy to spend our time focusing on negatives. Too often we forget to appreciate and admire the positive things that are happening around us everyday. We have some really great kids in our building, and if you needed proof, you should have been here Friday night. Faith Arthur used her platform with her Senior Project to really do something good in our community. There are more details in the newsletter, but when you get a chance tell her how proud of her we all are. It doesn t end with Faith. I was lucky to be in the cafeteria the other day and see two of our students go out of their way to help a student in need. We can complain about things, tell people how we would do it better, andfocus on negatives. Those are all easy to do. The hard work was done by some of our students this week who worked to make a difference. Edge of the Sword: SPRING SPORTS CLASSROOM CREATIVITY HONORS Team Captains from Friday night. What they lack in skill, they make up in effort...

Aces! State-Playoffs are here! Both teams played outstanding tennis this week and finished in 3rd place at the region tournament and move on to state playoffs! Our boys will be traveling to Langston Hughes and girls are headed to Douglas County. I will send specific dates and times once we have them. Be ready for a Spirit Walk! Congratulations to the players and parents, and a special thanks to Coach Pierce and Coach Morris for leading our athletes.

Spring Sports Are Here! Please check this schedule weekly since the weather will force many changes. It Takes a Village... It s great to see communities come together, but it is even better when one of our young adults organizes the event. Faith Arthur turned her senior project into a wonderful event to help the Live Like Maddi movement that honors the life and memory of Maddi Phillips. Faith organized a charity basketball game between Woodstock and the Ridge and raised over $800 for Maddi s scholarship fund. We are so proud of Faith and her efforts.

Knights Newsletter Baseball kept their winning ways this week, and look to finish up Region play the next week and head into the State Tournament. The team is playing very well as a group, and that group effort is what will carry them through the next few weeks. Connor Pavolony went on a tear offensively as River Ridge went 4-0 claim the IMG National Classic title in Bradenton, Florida. The Tennessee signee went 5-for-9 on the week, with two singles two doubles and a home run. He drove in nine runs, scored two himself and posted a.714 on-base percentage to lead a Knights offense that averaged 9.3 runs per game in wins over Utah s Brighton, Illinois Ridgewood, North Carolina s T.C. Roberson and Florida s Canterbury.

Fore!! The weather has finally allowed our boys and girls golf teams to get on the course the last couple of weeks. Our guys pick up their first win of the season! Low rounds were as follows: Eric Sabula- 44 Chase Travis- 44 Carson Baldwin- 47 We are back at it on Monday vs Cherokee at Canton Golf Club. The girls continue to improve with decreasing scores in their last two matches.

Knights Newsletter Congratulations to Angelica Millen! Angelica placed 5th in the nation in the Jostens Photography Contest with her photograph Capturing the Moment. The yearbook staff is incredibly proud of you, Angelica! River Ridge is proud of these GHP Finalists! Lilli Dammann for Social Studies, Alica Mazzurra for Communicative Arts, Billie O'Bryant for Social Studies, and Sathvika Narasimhan as an alternate for Engineering A group of our students attended the Spring CTI Leadership Conference at Eagle Watch Page 7

All give some, but some give all... Play in The Faculty game they said, it'll be fun they said... it's all fun and games until you break a wrist. Coach Taylor experienced first-hand (see what I did there), how good the care is at one of our sponsors. The amazing thing is, Coach spent the night at the hospital and showed up at school at 8:00 am Saturday to help with physicals.
