Dear Prospective Team, We would like to express our appreciation for your interest in participating in CSUN Bhangra Games 2016. Mark your calendars on March 5th, 2016, The Bhangra Games will take stage for it s second year at the state of the art and beautiful Plaza Del Sol Performance Hall in Northridge, CA. In this packet you will find the necessary prerequisite along with key guidelines to keep in mind in order to participate in this event. All application materials are due no later by 11:59 PM EST on December 6 th, 2015 with required payment. The competition will be implementing a point system to determine the lineup of the show and the mixer as well. Points are determined by the order in which the team Application and Registration Packets are received. Consequently, we highly urge the participating teams to complete their applications as soon as possible. This only applies to teams accepted to the competition. This year, eight music category teams will be accepted to be a part of this momentous event. The Music Teams will be competing for 1st ($1700) 2nd place ($750) and 3rd ($250) prizes and trophies. We sincerely hope you apply and join us in to continue CSUN Bhangra s competitions and its culture. Please read the registration packet carefully. All material must be submitted together via email to csunbhangragames@gmail.com or through our website at www.saccsun.com. For the subject line, make sure to include the team name and the captain s name, eg. CSUN Radhk Punjab Di, Sim Aujla Hotel Accommodations -Location: TBA - We will book a hotel where the teams will be able to purchase their own rooms. Each team that is NOT LOCAL (teams that come in outside from California, will receive a free room). -Transportation from the hotel to the campus and airport to hotel will be provided for out of state teams only. Mixer: March 4 th, 2016 -Location: Grand Salon, CSUN Competition: March 5 th, 2016 -Location: Plaza Del Sol Performance Hall 18111 Nordhoff Ave, Northridge, CA 91330 -A state-of-the-art 500 seat theatre and multi-use facility. The CSUN Plaza del Sol Concert Hall is a beautiful, technically superior performance space, with a well-equipped backstage area, ample parking and easy access to adjacent campus facilities. Registration Requirements: 1. You will be required to submit a 4-6 minute video of your team s most recent performance. Dropbox and youtube links are prefered. 2. If your team is chosen, you will be required to submit a list of people on your performing team by February 1st, 2016. You can scan and email all of your State Photo ID's to csunbhangragames@gmail.com. State Photo ID s will be required the day of as well. Acceptable State Photo ID s include: Passports, Driver s License, or State Identification Cards Please note that the last day to submit roster changes will be Friday, February 19th, 2016. Any changes after will not be accepted. 3. All participants must be at least 18 years of age; any dancer who is under the age of 18 (minor) will not be permitted to perform or enter the mixer venue and competition. 4. If your team is chosen, and you chose to have a 1-2 minute introduction video that will be played before your performance, the video must be handed in by February 19th, 2016. 5. If your team is chosen, a logo and team picture must be sent for promotion on our website and Facebook page. 6. No hazardous props may be used such as Kirpans, any props or instruments besides the Tumbi, Dhol, Daang/Khunda, Kato, Algozey, Chimta, or Saap, must get prior approval and every team must submit a prop request as soon as possible before they will be allowed on stage. No pyrotechnics, magic dust, smoke machines, or fireworks are allowed on stage or within the vicinity. Each team will be held liable for any financial penalties if rules are broken. 7. The Bhangra Games is limited to group bhangra performances of 10 (minimum) to 16 (maximum) dancers. The team members do not have to be affiliated with the university they are performing with. Each team is allowed to bring two non-dancing members (managers, dholis, singers, etc) in addition to the 16 members maximum. Additional supporters must purchase tickets to the show. They will not be allowed to rehearsals, the mixer, nor backstage during the competition. 8. A payment will be required in order to process your application. (Nonrefundable) $150- Early Application Fee- Submitted before 11:59PM November 15 th, 2015 $200- Late Application Fee- Submitted before 11:59PM November 29 th, 2015 $250- Submitted before 11:59 December 6 th, 2015 4

Both Payment and Application must be sent in order for consideration 5. Teams will be notified by December 20th, 2015 if your team has been selected to perform at our upcoming competition. A post-application will be sent. 6. Dance performance must be 6-8 minutes. Teams that go over or under the set time are subject to deduction of points. 7. Performance music must be recorded in an mp3 format and should be submitted by February 19 th, 2016 in order to be approved by the committee. Each team may only submit one single track with all intended breaks and pauses included. 8. Lighting cues are due February 19 th, 2016. If a team does not have their lighting cues sent by this date, a generic cue will be made for them. 9. If your team will be traveling from outside of the United States, your team will be required to obtain visas on your own. Exhibition Acts: Exhibition acts must follow the same registration process as all other competing teams. They must submit their registration packets by November 15 th, 2015 along with their registration fee of $100. Competing teams also have the option to indicate if they are interested in performing as exhibition acts. If they are not chosen to participate as a competing team, they are eligible to be in the running for an exhibition act position. 5

Rules and Regulations: 1. In consideration for being allowed to participate in this competition, the captain releases from liability and waive my right to sue the Return of CSUN Bhangra Competition, the South Asian Club(SAC), State of California, the Trustees of The California State University, California State University, Northridge and their employees, officers, volunteers and agents from any and all claims, including the SAC s negligence, resulting in any physical injury, illness (including death) or economic loss I may suffer because of my participation in this competition, including any travel to and from the competition. 2. The captain is voluntarily participating in this competition. Your team understands that there are risks, such as physical and/or psychological injury, pain, suffering, illness, disfigurement, temporary or permanent disability or even death, which may occur from my participation in this competition. These injuries or outcomes may arise from my own or other s actions, inactions, negligence, or from the condition of the competition location(s) or facility(ies). Nonetheless, I assume all related risks, whether known or unknown to me, of my participation in this competition, including travel to and from the competition. 3. Your team agrees to hold the SAC harmless from any and all claims, loss or damage to my personal property, liabilities and costs, including attorney s fees, as a result of my participation in this competition, including travel to and from the competition. If the SAC incurs any of these types of expenses, your team agrees to reimburse the University/Competition. 4. On the night of the show, performers must report backstage by their assigned time. Failure to comply with this rule WILL lead to disqualification. The show order is NOT to be changed under any circumstances, and will be determined at the mixer. If the entire team is not present at the time of their scheduled performance, they must perform without the individual or forfeit their right to compete. 5. The consumption of alcohol, the use of any illegal substances, and/or being under the influence on or near the premises of California State University Northridge and/or Plaza Del Sol Performance Hall will NOT be tolerated. The SAC Board and Plaza Del Sol Performance Hall reserves the right to disqualify and/or expel any participant, along with the entire team who violates this rule. 6. The Bhangra Games committee reserves the right to revoke the prizes to any teams that violate any of the rules. Failure to comply by the rules will lead to automatic disqualification of the team. 6

However, your team can write a check and make it payable to CSUN Associated Students Inc. with a memo stating South Asian Club.
