MEET INFO PACK 2016. www.xavierhawkssports.com Xavier High School is proud to host the Xavier Invitational Track & Field Meet Thursday, April 21, 2016 4:15 p.m. We welcome your school as a participant in the Xavier Invitational track & field meet. This year we will again use a fully automated timing system for entries and results. All entries will be handled on-line. Entries must be done at www.athletic.net and received by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19. Any changes or substitutions may be made through that time via www.athletic.net. Scratches only (no additions, no replacements) will be allowed the day of the meet. Each team is allowed one entry in each relay event and 28 individual event entries, with a maximum of 3 entries in individual events the same as the WIAA entry rule. See the HELP section of www.athletic.net for instructions or help with the on-line entry process. Athletic Directors Edge at www.adetiming.com will seed the meet, as well as POST online all heat sheets and flight sheets, entry lists, and results as soon as they are available. Results will be announced on-site over the PA. All info may be printed by coaches, athletes or spectators from the www.adetiming.com web site. Site: Rocky Bleier Field on the Knights of Columbus Sports Complex track, at Xavier High School, 1600 W. Prospect Ave., Appleton, 2 miles east of Interstate Hwy 41 at the Prospect Ave. / Hwy BB exit. See the map. The facility opens at 2:00 p.m. the day of the meet. There may be some road construction near Appleton, south and-or west of the city. Admission: There is no admission fee for spectators. Use the main gate, located at the southwest corner of the facility off the main parking lot west of the school. Bus parking: near the street along the south end of the main parking lot located west of the school, or, on a city street. Do NOT park along the fence, near the track; inform your bus driver, please! Participating Teams: Fox Valley Lutheran Lourdes, Oshkosh Neenah New Holstein Roncalli, Manitowoc Xavier, Appleton Coaches Meeting: 3:45 p.m. on the day of the meet, in Shed A near the track. Fee: Please send the $200.00 entry fee to Xavier High School, 1600 W. Prospect Ave., Appleton, WI 54914, Attn: Kathy Bates, or, bring it the day of the meet. MEET DETAILS 2016 Xavier Invitational Track & Field Meet Awards: A 1st place plaque will be presented to the boys and girls champion teams after the meet. A gold medal will be given for first place, a silver medal for second, and a bronze medal for third place. Award envelopes will be given to the coaches at the conclusion of the meet. Bull Pen: Located at the large white tent on the northwest end of the track, near the 0 start. Hip numbers will be available in the Bull Pen. Athletes failing to report will NOT be called over the PA. Coaches Meeting and Workers Meeting: At 3:45 p.m. in Shed A near the track on the day of the meet. Concessions: Items will be sold by the Xavier Booster Club from the brick building near the main bleachers. T-shirts are not available. Restrooms are available near the concession stand. Facilities / Spikes: Xavier has an eight-lane rubberized 400-meter track. One-quarter (1/4) inch pyramid spikes are allowed on the track and runways. The shot put and discus circles are concrete. Starting blocks will be provided. Spikes will not be sold at the site. Field Events: Preliminaries will be conducted in the long jump, triple jump, shot put, and discus. Each competitor will receive three trials. A strict 15-minute time limit for checking out will be enforced. In the long jump and triple jump, preliminaries will be one hour. Finalists will be announced as soon as possible. The other gender jumping event will begin 15 minutes after the finals are completed for that respective jumping event. Shot put and discus will be conducted in flights. The flights will be arranged according to distances submitted. Finalists will be announced as soon as possible after the conclusion of the last flight. The other gender throwing event will begin 15 minutes after the finals for both events are completed. The best eight will qualify for finals. The finalists will receive three additional trials with the winning distance coming from either the preliminaries or the finals. The open pit system will be used for the preliminaries of the long and triple jumps. The five alive system will be used for the high jump and pole vault events if the number of entries warrants. Pole vault poles will be checked in at the pole vault venue starting at 3:30 p.m. The starting heights for pole vault and high jump shall be determined by using the eighth-best qualifying height and then subtracting two increments. The meet manager reserves the right to alter the starting heights. Implement Check-In: All implements to be used in the shot put and the discus MUST be checked in, verified and marked by meet workers in Shed A... at the south end of the track... from 3:30 until 4:00. Any implement not approved may be picked up from Shed A AFTER the conclusion of the entire meet. Miscellaneous: Coaches, non-participating athletes, and spectators will not be allowed in the restricted areas. They will need to stay outside the fenced-in area of the track. In the shot put, discus and pole vault, athletes may NOT warm-up unless one of your coaches or the field event judge is present at the venue. Running Events: All runners in open events will be assigned a hip number. Only anchor runners in relays will be assigned a hip number. Qualifying from trials to finals will be the winner in each heat, plus the next fastest times from any heat until all eight lanes are filled. Sections will be conducted in the remaining running events based on the best times. Scoring: Team scoring for the 6-team meet will consist of eight places (-8-6-4-2-1, relays -8-6-4-2). Scratches only (no replacements) will be allowed the day of the meet. Timing & Results: We will use the fully automated timing system of Athletic Directors Edge for the meet. Results will be announced and available on-line at www.adetiming.com as soon possible after the meet. Tents: Any tent may only be set up on the grass area outside of the NORTH CURVE of the track, or, in the far NORTHWEST CORNER of the facility north of the large bleachers. See the map.
