LAST WEEK S RESULTS Friday, January 13 Georgia at Alabama - Tuscaloosa, Ala. 1) Alabama 196.475 2) Georgia 196.325 Kentucky at Arkansas - Fayetteville, Ark. 1) Arkansas 196.65 2) Kentucky 191.975 Illinois-Chicago at Florida - Gainesville, Fla. 1) Florida 196.175 2) Illinois-Chicago 191.875 Geralen Stack-Eaton opened up her senior season with a perfect 10.0 on the vault against Georgia. It marked a career-best for the Horsham, Pa., native and the first 10.0 for the Crimson Tide since Ashley Miles in the 2005 NCAA Super Six Team finals. She is the only SEC gymnast to post a perfect score this season. She led Alabama to a 49.550 team score on the vault, which has the Tide ranked second nationally on that event, making it the highest event ranking by any SEC school. Stack-Eaton also won the uneven bars against UGA with a 9.875 and posted Alabama s highest score on the balance beam with a 9.85. She is ranked 10th on the uneven bars and 14th on the balance beam nationally. SEC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK Lloimincia Hall - LSU 4-11 Dallas, Texas Auburn at LSU - Baton Rouge, La. 1) LSU 195.025 2) Auburn 193.800 THIS WEEK IN THE SEC Friday, January 20 Arkansas vs. LSU* Auburn vs. Georgia* Florida vs. Kentucky* Saturday, January 21 Alabama at Michigan/Penn State * SEC Meet Hall won the all-around title with a season-high 39.200 to lead LSU to its first regular-season SEC victory since Feb. 5, 2010 when the Tigers defeated Alabama in Baton Rouge. She recorded the highest all-around total of the weekend by a freshman in the SEC. The mark was also the highest all-around score by a Tiger since Sarie Morrison scored a 39.575 on Feb. 18, 2011 against Georgia. Hall captured the first individual titles of her young career with the all-around title and the floor crown after she scored a 9.90 as the anchor of the event.

2012 SEC Gymnastics Week 2 ALABAMA Crimson Tide Alabama s 196.475 against Georgia was its highest opening night score since posting a 196.725 in the Super Six Challenge on Jan. 9, 2004 in Tuscaloosa. The Tide s win over Georgia will be broadcast on a tape-delayed basis on both ESPN2 (Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. CT) and ESPNU (Jan. 19 at 5:30 p.m. CT). The 14,501 fans that Alabama drew on Friday is the largest crowd in the nation this season. UA students overflowed their section, with more than 2,200 students making their way to the Coliseum on Friday. Geralen Stack-Eaton s 10.0 on the vault in her first routine of the 2012 season was the first perfect score for the Crimson Tide since Ashley Miles scored two 10.0s in the NCAA Super Six Team finals (vault and floor) on April 22, 2005 in Auburn, Ala. Stack-Eaton is the 13th UA gymnast to score at least one 10.0 during her career and the 7th to score a 10.0 on the vault. Senior Ashley Priess competed in three events, the uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. She anchored and posted the highest UA score on all three events, winning the uneven bars and floor exercise. Junior Ashley Sledge made her collegiate debut in the all-around, winning it with a 39.450, including a career-best 9.975 on the vault. It marked her first all-around competition since she was a junior in high school. Junior Marissa Gutierrez shared first place on the floor exercise after scoring a 9.9 against Georgia. It marked her first individual collegiate title on the floor exercise. Alabama takes to the road this weekend, traveling to State College, Pa. where it will face Michigan State and Cornell in addition to host Penn State on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. ET. ARKANSAS Lady Razorbacks Arkansas had another big night and scored a 196 for the second time in two meets with its SEC-opening win over No. 23 Kentucky, 196.65-191.975. The Razorbacks had a 49.075 on vault, 49.275 on bars, 48.90 on beam and 49.40 on floor. The scores on bars and floor both match the 10th-best in school history while the overall team score is the 10th-best. Individually, senior All- American Jaime Pisani won vault with a 9.90, floor by matching the school record she already shares with a 9.95 and the all-around with a 39.525. Sophomore All-American Katherine Grable won beam with a 9.85, and she and senior Mariah Howdeshell tied for the bars title with a 9.875. Arkansas entertains LSU on Friday. The 2012 season is the 10th anniversary of the Razorback program and members of the inaugural team of 2003, along with other former Razorbacks, will be recognized during the LSU meet. AUBURN Tigers Auburn dropped its first head-to-head meet of the year at LSU on Friday, 195.025-193.800. Senior Kylie Shields set a career high with a 9.875 on vault and Toi Garcia posted the second-highest vault score of the night with a season-best 9.900. Beam featured another solid routine from Shields as she capped her night with a season-high and career-best tying score of 9.900. Shields 9.900 was the highest score on the beam on Friday night. Allyson Sandusky and Shields paced the Tigers on the uneven bars in the opening rotation. The pair of seniors each scored an identical 9.800 and shared the event title. After starting the 2012 season with a pair of road meets, Auburn hosts Georgia on Friday to begin a two-meet home stand. The Gym Dogs last visit to The Plains on January 29, 2010, Auburn walked away with its first-ever win over Georgia, 195.225-194.900. FLORIDA Gators In last Friday s home opener, four different Gators picked up the event titles all with marks of 9.90 or better. Junior All-American Ashanée Dickerson pushed her career total of vault event titles to an even dozen with her winning mark of 9.90. Sophomore All-American Alaina Johnson picked up her second consecutive uneven bars win Friday, this time with a mark of 9.90. A collegiate-best mark of 9.925 gave junior All-American Marissa King her second straight balance beam win. Freshman Kytra Hunter is now two-for-two in floor exercise wins, this time with a collegiate-best 9.925. She is the first Gator freshmen to turn in floor marks of 9.90 or better in the first meets of the season. Hunter also claimed her second consecutive all-around title at 38.925. No. 8 Florida (2-0, 0-0 SEC) opens its Southeastern Conference slate on Jan. 20 at No. 29 Kentucky (2-2, 0-1 SEC). GEORGIA Gym Dogs Sixth-ranked Georgia will be on the road for the second straight week as it travels to No. 20 Auburn Friday for an 8:00 p.m. ET meet. The Gym Dogs are coming off a narrow 196.475-196.325 loss at Alabama last weekend. Georgia s 196.325 was the second-highest road score in the country last weekend, behind UCLA s 196.675 at California on Sunday. For the first time in school history, Georgia has scored a 49.0 or higher on each vault, bars and beam rotation in the first two meets of the season. The Gym Dogs lowest score in those six rotations is a 49.1 on vault against Alabama. Current rankings are based on average team score, and the Gym Dogs have a 196.425 average after two meets. In the team event rankings, the Gym Dogs are third nationally on bars (49.238) and beam (49.125), seventh on vault (49.163), and 11th on floor (48.900). Georgia gymnasts have turned in the nation s highest scores on bars and TEAM BY TEAM NOTES 2 beam so far, as Kat Ding posted a 9.975 on bars against Denver and Shayla Worley scored a career-high 9.95 on the balance beam at Alabama. Ding s 9.925 average is tied for the first nationally, while Worley is second on beam with a 9.913 average. KENTUCKY Wildcats The No. 23 University of Kentucky gymnastics team concluded its first Southeastern Conference meet of the season by falling 196.650-191.975 to No. 11 Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. In all, Kentucky had 19 of 24 routines performed by freshmen and sophomores in the meet, while five Wildcats made their collegiate debuts on an event in the meet. Kentucky s youth shined on vault with freshman Kenzie Hedges leading the way with a 9.775, while sophomore Holly Cunningham was second on the team and tied a career high with a 9.75. Freshman Sara Shipley went second in the lineup and scored a 9.725, while sophomore Audrey Harrison went 9.7. Senior Storey Morris posted a 9.65 followed by freshman Shelby Hilton, who was making her collegiate debut, earning a 9.475. Kentucky scored a 48.6 as a team on the event. LSU Tigers LSU defeated Auburn 195.025-193.800 behind the all-around performances by all four freshmen on the roster. Lloimincia Hall picked up her first all-around title with a 39.200 total, while Jessie Jordan (39.025) and Rheagan Courville (38.925) finished second and third in the all-around to give LSU a clean sweep of the allaround awards. Even with Kaleigh Dickson out with a foot injury and Sarie Morrison, Maliah Mathis and Shelby Prunty limited due to injuries, the Tigers made a dramatic improvement from the season opener with no event total lower than a 48.450. Hall and Courville shared their first floor titles with a 9.90, and Courville earned her first vault title with a 9.925 the highest score on any event for a Tiger this season. Jordan led LSU on beam with a season-high 9.875, good enough for second place in the event. LSU (1-4, 1-0 SEC) heads to Fayetteville, Ark., to face Arkansas on Jan. 20. The Southeastern Conference Setting the Standard for Intercollegiate Athletics The Southeastern Conference is widely regarded as the most dominating gymnastics conference in the NCAA. Since the inaugural NCAA Championship in 1982, the SEC has had at least one team in all 30 national championship meets, with Florida being one of only two teams nationally (Utah is the other) to have appeared at all 20 contests prior to the Gators barely missing the cut in 2000. The SEC has also had at least one team finish in the Top-10 in the NCAA since 1982. The SEC entered the record books at the 1998 NCAA Championships, becoming the only conference in women s collegiate gymnastics to sweep the top three spots. Georgia won its fourth championship title with the largest margin of victory in over 10 years. The Bulldogs outdistanced second-place Florida who finished just ahead of Alabama. It marked the 12th consecutive year that the SEC placed at least two teams in the final top five. At the 1999 NCAA Championships, Georgia won its second consecutive and fifth overall first-place title. Alabama, Florida and LSU all finished in the top 10.
