The Sooners take on UIC and No. 19 Oklahoma State Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively. The Saturday games are a part of The Preview featuring Bedlam at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. Live stats for all games are available at SoonerSports.com. A LOOK AT OKLAHOMA AS A TEAM Oklahoma won 3-0 at North Texas Wednesday. Cierra Hughes had a two-rbi double and Chana e Jones added a solo home run. Oklahoma started the year 11-1 before going 1-4 at the Cathedral City (Calif.) Classic. OU closed out the event with a 4-2 win over Cal Poly. The Sooners have played one of the nation s toughest schedules to date - five opponents all ranked in the top 15. After this weekend, seven of OU s 22 opponents will have been ranked at the time of the contest - 32 percent. OU is 166-149 (.527) all-time against ranked opponents. OU is 82-97 against non-big 12 teams and 84-52 against current Big 12 schools. The Sooners are 1-4 against ranked opponents this season with an 11-1 five-inning win over then-no. 2 Arizona on Feb. 12. Oklahoma is 15-8 all-time against a ranked Oklahoma State team and 10-5 against the nation s 19th-ranked squad. OU is 5-1 all-time against No. 24 and has never faced Auburn when the Tigers were ranked. A LOOK AT OKLAHOMA INDIVIDUALLY Freshman Brittany Williams leads OU with a.429 batting average and 1.071 slugging percentage. Williams has a team-best 16 walks. Williams is second in the Big 12 in home runs (7), fourth in on-base percentage (.607) and second in slugging percentage. Sophomore Jessica Shults is the team leader with 32 RBI, more than half of her total from last year (62). Shults leads the Big 12 in RBI, home runs (10) and total bases (58). She ranks second in hits (24) and third in slugging percentage (1.018). Shults and Williams account for 52 of the Sooners 111 RBI and have a combined 17 home runs of OU s 25. Sophomore Keilani Ricketts has 92 strikeouts already this season, third best in the Big 12. Ricketts recorded the 16th shutout of her career Wednesday evening, moving her into a tie for ninth on the all-time list in the category. She needs 37 strikeouts to move into fifth on the all-time career list. She currently averages 11.64 per game. Head coach Patty Gasso is 787-254-2 (.755) in 17 season at Oklahoma. She is 13 wins shy of OU win No. 800. With her 800th Division I win, Gasso would become the 20th active coach to reach the mark and 30th all-time. Gasso is 949-314-2 (.750) in 21 seasons as a head coach. She needs 51 wins for career win No. 1,000. A LOOK AT THE SERIES HISTORY Oklahoma and Auburn have met once previously. The Sooners defeated the Tigers 6-2 on March 1, 2002 in Miami, Fla. OU leads the all-time series with UIC, 4-1. The two schools most recently met in 2005 with OU winning 17-10 in eight innings in Las Vegas. Oklahoma State holds a slim 69-68 margin in the series with OU. The Cowgirls lead 16-13 at neutral sites. Complete series history information begins on page 132 of the 2011 Oklahoma softball virtual guide. A LOOK AT NEXT WEEK Oklahoma takes on Tulsa on Wednesday, March 9 at 6 p.m. The game is the first televised contest for the Sooners this season. OU hosts the Oklahoma Spring Festival next weekend with Indiana, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Missouri State in attendance.
