Although Auburn has won four out of the last six in this series, has won 10 out of the last 11 at home, with the average margin of victory in those games being 18.9 points. Senior All-SEC guard Dee Bost has scored more points against Auburn than any other SEC team. In six games, he s averaged 18.8 points on 50.7 percent shooting (36-71) and has dished out 4.7 assists to go along with his 5.3 rebounds. His career high of 32 points came two years ago against the Tigers at the Hump. Five-straight years, MSU has been at least.500 in SEC play at the midpoint of the season. In fact, only four times have the Bulldogs been below.500 through the first eight games with Rick Stansbury at the helm. In SEC play, the Bulldogs average margin of victory has been just 3.5 points. Against its last two opponents (LSU & Florida), MSU has a plus-28 rebound margin. On the year, MSU is 10-4 in games decided by 10 points or less. Dee Bost has moved into 4th in MSU record books with 208 made 3-pointers and 613 attempted 3-pointers. He s also 6th with 369 made free throws. Arnett Moultrie leads the SEC in rebounding (11.3) and double-doubles (13). In the MSU freshman record books, Rodney Hood currently ranks 8th in scoring average (11.3), 10th in assists (2.1) and 3rd in minutes averaged (34.2). He s also fifth overall with 32 made 3-pointers and 7th with 81 attempted 3s. Conditioning obviously isn t an issue for the Bulldogs as Dee Bost, Rodney Hood and Arnett Moultrie lead the SEC in minutes played at 35.0, 34.2 and 34.2, respectively. Three times this year, Moultrie has scored 25-plus points and had 10-plus rebounds. The last MSU player to do that was Charles Rhodes in 2008. However, it s not just the MSU record books he finds his name. In addition, his total is currently 12th-most in SEC history. Just ahead of him in 11th is Wes Flanigan of Auburn with 573. The record holder is Ole Miss Sean Tuohy (1979-82) with 830. In second is Kareem Reid of Arkansas with 748, followed by Tennessee s Johnny Darded with 715. 2011-12 MISSISSIPPI STATE SCHEDULE Date Opponent Score/Time N 7 # Eastern Kentucky W 76-66 N 9 # Akron (ESPNU) L 68-58 N 12 South Alabama W 80-65 N 17 @ Texas A&M (ESPN2) W 69-60 N 18 @ Arizona (ESPN2) W 67-57 N 21 Louisiana-Monroe W 78-63 N 25 UT-Martin W 76-50 N 27 North Texas W 82-59 D 3! Dating back to the 1987-88 season when Richard Williams was overseeing the program, owns a composite January record of 99-88 (.529) MSU ENJOYS MORE NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS Including last year s 8-6 mark in non-conference action, coupled with this year s 13-2 record, has compiled a 154-51 (.751) record against non-conference opponents during the Rick Stansbury era (since 1998-99), including a 144-41 (.778) regular-season mark. MISSISSIPPI STATE S RECORD WHEN... During the Rick Stansbury era, the Bulldogs are: 227-38 (16-0 this year) when leading at halftime; 163-38 (10-1) when shooting 45 percent or better from the fi eld; 241-73 (12-1) when the opposition shoots less than 45 percent from the fi eld; 226-83 (15-3) when out-rebounding or tying opponents; and 175-32 (10-1) when holding opponents to 65 points or less. MISSISSIPPI-AUBURN CONNECTIONS While the Tigers don t have anyone on its roster from the state of Mississippi, the Bulldogs have several connections with Auburn. Junior forward Wendell Lewis is from Selma and freshman forward Roquez Johnson is from Montgomery. In addition, assistant coach George Brooks is from Lafayette. Also, Arnett Moultrie played for current Auburn coach Tony Barbee before transferring from UTEP. SCOUTING AUBURN A staunch defensive effort was enough to overcome a sluggish offensive performance as Auburn upended visiting Georgia on Wednesday, 59-51. While the Tigers shot just 16 of 48 from the fi eld, including a 2-11 mark beyond the arc, they limited the Bulldogs to 13-of-52 shooting. Reserve Varez Ward paced Auburn with 17 points, while Kenny Gabriel added 16. Both teams totaled 38 rebounds, with Gabriel hauling in a team-high 8. He also finished with a game-high 4 blocked shots. LAST TIME OUT FOR MSU... Playing its third ranked team of the season, fell at No. 13 Florida, 69-57. It was the largest defi cit of the year in a setback for MSU. MSU trailed 30-27 at the half, but fought back to even the score in the second frame. However, an 11-0 run late by the Gators was too much for MSU to overcome. Arnett Moultrie did record his SEC-best 13th double-double with 12 points and 13 boards. Also in double-digits were Dee Bost with 12 points and Brian Bryant with 11. MSU shot 21 of 48 from the fl oor, while Florida was 27-56.

He reached the milestone with 3:34 left in the fi rst half on a 3-pointer that tied the game at 25-apiece. MORE NEWS & NOTES REBOUNDING STREAK ENDS Through the fi rst eight games of the season, MSU had outrebounded all eight of its opponents. But against West Virginia, the streak ended when the Mountaineers won the battle of the boards, 36-31. Baylor also won the rebounding war, 40-32, as did Tennessee and Ole Miss. Twice this year, the Bulldogs have hauled in 46 rebounds vs. Troy and vs. LSU, which they out-rebounded by 20. On the year, MSU has a rebounding margin of +4.1. GOOD SHOWING AT THE POLLS fi nds itself ranked in both polls for the fi rst time since the 2009-10 preseason rankings. The Bulldogs stand at No. 22 in AP and No. 19 in the ESPN/ USA Today Coaches Polls. As a ranked team this season, has posted a 13-4 ledger. It s the longest MSU has been ranked since the 2003-04 season when it won the regular-season SEC crown. 3-POINT RECORD TIED AGAIN Against Troy in a 106-68 victory, tied a school record with 16 made 3-pointers. The Bulldogs also had 16 treys against Arkansas (2-7-09) and St. Bonaventure (12-5-09). From an individual standpoint against the Trojans, senior guard Dee Bost drained 7 3-pointers, one shy of tying the school record of 8 held by Winsome Frazier, Marckell Patterson, Antonio Jackson and Darryl Wilson. It was the second time he has made 7 3s, the fi rst coming two years ago against Auburn. ASSISTS COMING FROM ALL DIRECTIONS In the win against Troy, MSU dished out a season-high 30 assists, the most since being credited with 31 against Louisiana- Monroe on 12-5-01. The 30 assists are tied for 7th in school history, while the record of 34 came against Chicago State on 12-4-74. Dee Bost led the charge with 9, while Rodney Hood and Arnett Moultrie had career best of 6 and 5, respectively. HOOD IMPRESSIVE OUT OF THE GATES Freshman Rodney Hood of Meridian, Miss., has garnered not only local attention for his play, but national attention as well. And stats tell the story as to why. Overall, he s currently third on the team and 26th in the SEC in scoring (11.3), while his minutes (34.2) are second on the team and in the league. In the MSU freshman record books, he making waves, too. Currently, he s sixth in scoring, fourth in average minutes played. Freshman guard Rodney Hood is tied for second in the SEC in minutes played (34.2) and 26th in scoring (11.3)

MEET THE HEAD COACH Rick Stansbury, 14th year Consistency is a key ingredient to the recent success enjoyed by the University basketball program, one that is stressed in the players daily activities on and off the basketball fl oor that has translated into the program s recent run of national prominence gained under head coach Rick Stansbury. That consistency was brought to the forefront four years ago when MSU s 14th-year head basketball coach became the all-time winningest basketball coach in school history, surpassing Richard Williams mark of 191.
