The team will have 8 events represented at State! Both teams have one of the highest team GPAs in the athletic department; the girls basketball team has a GPA of 3.7 while the boys swim team has a team GPA of 3.8! Great job, Wildcats!

Cheerleading: The LN cheerleaders had yet another very busy week! The team split squads to cover the semi-state girls basketball game, cheer camp, and boys basketball game. Check out these pictures of our LN cheerleaders helping out the Future Wildcats as the perform together at the LN vs Howe boys basketball game! Great job, girls! Pictures by Alanna Ampil.

Boys Basketball: The Wildcats (14-6, 4-3 MIC) picked up two wins over the weekend. On Friday night, the Cats clawed and scratched all night long in a comeback win over MIC rival Pike, 73-70. Jared Hankins had himself a game! The future Indiana State guard lit it up with 31 points, and then followed that up with 21 points against Fort Wayne South on Saturday, leading the team to a 71-59 win. Shamar Avance had 16 and Tony Perkins 14. Senior Night is this Tuesday against the Howe Hornets. The Wildcats will recognize seniors Jared Hankins and David Perkins. Coach Keefer hosted a viewing party for the team as the IHSAA Sectional 10 draw was announced on Sunday. Lawrence North will play the Cathedral Irish in the second game on Tuesday, February 26 th.

Girls Basketball: They did it again, they got that bread! Boys Swimming & Diving: The Wildcats did something this year that no other team in school history has accomplished; the team won the Marion County championship, completed an undefeated dual meet season, and won the IHSAA Sectional Championship in the same season! Lawrence North won the 11 team sectional, outpacing runner-up Franklin Central and third place North Central 419-341-340. The team was on fire all day! The Cats set 4 LN school records, won 6 events, and qualified 8 events to state! Bennett Vail had a day to remember, as both of his state qualifying wins (200 free, 500 free) were in LN school record time, and he was on two other relays that qualified for state, one in another school record time! Jasper Suiter set a new school record in the 50 free, a 16-year old record previously held by A.J. Smith (Class of 2003) who was at the meet cheering on the Wildcats with his son. A.J. was also on the previous school record 200 free relay team, and he saw that record go down by Jasper Suiter, Joe Grese, Jacob Penrose, and Bennett Vail who not only broke a 16-year old LN school record, but also set a pool and sectional record as well! The Wildcats broke North Central s 14-year sectional winning streak, and Head Coach Joel Elber was voted the Sectional Coach of the Year! Wow, what a day! Advancing to the IHSAA State Championships on Friday (6:00pm) and Saturday (1:00pm) at the IU Natatorium include: 200 Medley Relay: Nick Hamersly, Jasper Suiter, Tyler Birkla, and Joe Grese Sectional champions 1:37.96 200 Freestyle: Bennett Vail - Sectional champion & new LN school record! 1:42.73 50 Freestyle: Jasper Suiter State qualifying time and new LN school record! :21.02 Diving: Brayden Laycoax Sectional champion! 435.60 500 Freestyle: Bennett Vail Sectional champion & new LN school record! 4:42.70 200 Freestyle Relay: Jasper Suiter, Joe Grese, Jacob Penrose, Bennett Vail Sectional champions & new LN school record, pool record, and sectional record! 1:26.60 100 Breaststroke: Jasper Suiter Sectional champion! :59.36 400 Freestyle Relay: Bennett Vail, Jacob Penrose, Tyler Birkla, Nick Hamersly At large state qualifying time! 3:14.88
