The G-Braves enter play tied with Norfolk (also 1-2) for third place in the International League South both teams trail Durham and Charlotte (2-1) by 1.0 game for the division lead. GWN is seeking its first four-game series split with Durham since 7/17/14-7/20/14 at Coolray Field. Bulls Clip G-Braves in Game 3: Durham snapped a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly from Taylor Motter and went on to defeat the G-Braves 4-1 last night at Coolray Field. RHP Williams Perez fired 4.0-innings of one-run baseball in his Triple-A debut, but the Gwinnett offense backed him with just one run against RHP Matt Buschmann (W, 1-0) of the Bulls. That tally came in the second when Elmer Reyes (1-for-2, R) walked, went to third on an errant Series vs. Durham DATE RESULT Thu, 4/9 L, 0-1 Fri, 4/10 W, 5-4 (11) Sat, 4/11 L, 1-4 Sun, 4/12 pickoff throw by Buschmann and scored on a groundout by Sean Kazmar (1-for-4, RBI). RHP Kanekoa Texeira (L, 0-1) yielded only a run over his first 4.0 frames in relief, but walked a pair before exiting in the ninth. Both those runners scored as LHP Donnie Veal allowed a double to Corey Brown. Durham relievers Jim Miller (H, 1) and Jordan Norberto (S, 1) combined on 3.1 scoreless innings. For Starters: RHP Williams Perez, the 2014 Double-A Mississippi Pitcher of the Year, did not factor in the decision in his Triple-A debut with Gwinnett last night. He threw 82 pitches, 45 for strikes over 4.0 IP (5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 SO) and exited with the game tied 1-1. GWN starters Perez, LHP Manny Banuelos and RHP Mike Foltynewicz are a combined 0-1 with a 2.31 ERA (3 ER in 11.2 IP) in three games. The three have received just one run of support. Banuelos, Atlanta s No. 12 prospect according to MLB.com, made his G-Braves debut on Friday. In a no-decision, he worked 3.2 IP (3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3 SO, 2 WP, 79 pitches/47 strikes).
