February 2014 Page 2 Channel Log West Channel Yacht Club Your Summer Vacation on the River http://www.west-channel.com Words from the Commodore Commodore Terry Vercellino Clubhouse Comments Vice Commodore Ed Wohl Summer is in full swing and so is the rain. The rain has created sink holes between our wall and the land. The wall is still being undermined. We need to keep filling this area with dirt until it stops sinking. Thanks to Mark, there are an abundance of chairs at the pool, and there is no need to over crowd the pool so do not bring any other chairs to the pool area. Joe B. and friends worked very hard on constructing a bar for the pool area, and it turned out beautifully. Do not abuse the bar and keep the pool area clean. I think this is a nice addition and want to keep it going. Also no glass in pool area, throw any discarded food products in garbage cans inside the club house or in the gondola to prevent maggots and other critters from enjoying our pool and empty the ash trays. This is not a Resort!!! Big screen parties, pool parties, the fun has just begun. Thanks to the River Rat Patrol, the debris around the boats is cleaned up, and with a little prayer, the wet weather will go away. Join in, relax and enjoy. Terry The clubhouse has been kept in good shape and enjoyed by many. For those of you that haven't signed up for your turn to clean the clubhouse, I will be calling you to pick an open date. It is club policy that all members take a turn at doing this. It gets you 4 work hours per docking member and you can bring others to help you. The refrigerator is a nice convenience for all to use. Please label your food and/or throw away unwanted items, or they will be thrown away for you. I also would like to thank everyone for cleaning up after themselves and their guests. With Regatta coming up soon, let's do a good job of keeping WCYC looking great. Thanks, V/C Ed Wohl Lip Sync Battle Friday, July 17 Win Prizes for the best performance! Watch Lip Sync Battle on Spike TV or YouTube to get an idea of how this works, no singing required, but costumes, props, dance and showmanship make it all the more fun! Prepare something ahead of time and bring your song with you, or let Becky or Sherri N. know by Thursday, July 16, what song you need and they will make sure it is ready to go for you. Please let us know by that date if you are participating so that we can schedule the performers for the night. Becky 216-570-1016, Sherri 216-832-4364.

Page 2 Around The Grounds Rear Commodore Scott Daubenmire A big thank you to all who helped and attended the annual Member Appreciation Pool Party. The two versions of our Raging River Pool Party Punch, mixed by P/C Don Connerton, Marion Connerton and Sally Jacobs, were great. The weather turned out awesome as well. A few reminders, please continue to put in time cutting the grass and weed eating. If it is not complete by Thursday every week, I will be doing it. With the 4th of July holiday coming up, please remember that fireworks, fire crackers, etc. are not allowed at WCYC. Sparklers are ok; just remember to clean up after yourselves. Remember to weed eat/cut grass under and around your trailers and boats that are still on land. Thanks again for all your help and leave your problems at the gate. Scott Daubenmire Summer is Here! Please remember: 5 MPH in parking lot (please remind your guests) No glass bottles in the pool area Children under age 12 MUST wear life jackets Empty your trash cans before leaving (raccoons love to make a mess!) Park bicycles in bike racks when at the house Make sure club house is locked if you are last to leave Regatta Weekend July 17-19 Theme: King Neptune s Paradise See insert and website for more details REMINDER From the Treasurer P/C Steve Paternite I will mail out the remaining membership cards for members that have not received them yet. If you disagree with any invoice, please make a prompt inquiry to the Treasurer or Board of Trustees. If you have any issues with completion of work hours, please approach The Board of Trustees for discussion in advance of your required completion deadline. 50% of required work hours must be completed by last day of June and balance by last day of December. Thank you for your cooperation. P/C Steve Paternite treasurer@west-channel.com
