CCC Board President Address I am happy to report that winter is over and spring has sprung. Spring weather in Wyoming can sometimes still feel like winter, but as the calendar tells us, warm weather is not far off. It will not be long before the Cheyenne Country Club is in full swing with all of our venues open and ready for the beautiful summer season that we enjoy here in Cheyenne. It looks as though the club has come out of winter in great shape, and every part of the CCC will be even better than past years. I have had the privilege to get out and play the golf course a couple of times in recent weeks. I can truly tell all of you that I have never seen the course look so good this early in the year. In talking with Matt and his crew, they all share that same belief. When you see Matt and his crew out there working, please take a moment to stop and tell them how much you appreciate all they do to allow us to play a great golf course. That being said, we all need to be patient while the crew works on getting the course ready for the summer season. It is a constant battle to pick up all the debris that is left after our winter weather and wind. This time of year is probably the busiest for Matt and his crew, so please look out for those guys and know they are working hard to get your course ready for the season. The pro shop is now open and accepting tee times. Ken, Kathy and staff will be busy getting the shop ready for the season. In the next few weeks, you will notice the merchandise arriving and being displayed. I hope we all realize what a privilege it is to have such a well-stocked pro shop. I believe that we have the best pro shop in the region and hope that all the members purchase all their clothing and equipment at the CCC. It is also time to start thinking about scheduling those golf lessons to get your game in shape for the season. We are all very fortunate to have the two best teachers in the business. Give Ken and John a call to get those lessons scheduled.

CCC Board President Address Ken Yamada is in the process of getting the tennis courts ready for play. Ken has attended a couple of conferences over the winter and will be bringing some new ideas back to the club. We look forward to Ken continuing to grow the tennis program that saw tremendous strides the past couple of years. Please don t hesitate to call Ken regarding the upcoming season. The restaurant and business office doesn t get the opportunity to enjoy much of an off season, so it will be business as usual. The restaurant has enjoyed a great winter. I don t ever remember seeing so many people enjoying the great food and atmosphere over the winter months. That being said, make sure you make reservations when you plan on dining at the CCC. This is very important because it helps Mylon and Chef Don order the right amount of food and have the kitchen and dining room properly staffed. Thank you in advance for your help in this matter. As always, if you have any questions for the business office, please give Dawn a call. I look forward to seeing all of you in the coming weeks. We are so lucky to have such a great club and great managers. Please get out often and bring a friend to introduce to your club. You, as members, are our best ambassadors to showing what our club has to offer. With another summer on its way, Mark Miller will start getting the pool ready for another wonderful year. Mark and his crew do a great job at keeping the pool fun for us all. The pool will open on Memorial Day weekend so get ready for a great summer. Joe Hunter

The past few days of warmer temperatures has given me time to catch up on some court maintenance. The wind caused one windscreen to rip; I had scheduled for it to be replaced before this summer so I am hopeful that is the extent of any major damage. We seem to have come out of the winter season in great shape, right now, all 5 courts are playable. The Laramie County schools calendar tells me the last day of school is set for June 5. Based on this information, we will start our Kids Program on June 11, as well as most of our other programs. The school calendar sets August 28 for the first day of classes to begin in the fall. Since we do not meet the week of Frontier Days, we are forced to jam a lot of activities into a short period of time. It seems scheduling has become more difficult each year. Due to a number of circumstances, this year s Governor s Cup Tournament will be held on August 3-5 for both Adults and Juniors. Our Adult Doubles Day Tournament will be held on May 26. We have added an Adult Mixed Doubles Tournament for this fall. The Tennis Pro-Shop is now an authorized dealer for the Babolat line of equipment. We just received the newly released Hard Drive 107 racquet. I have it strung and it is now available for you to demo. I have several other Babolat Demo s on hand, as well as strings and grips. I enjoyed the Indian Wells Tournament, its great that men s doubles had 4 American s, the Bryan Brothers vs. the team of Jack Sock and John Isner. It seems all players, both men and women are serving bigger and bigger. Given this fact, the return of serve has risen in importance, and all players should take this in consideration. All server s have their own particular serve routine, but pay attention to the returner s actions. They too, have a routine that they repeat on each and every point. This is something all our players here at the Club should consider and really put some time and effort into this part of their game. The Tennis Pro-Shop phone is 307-637-2221; and e-mail is yamada@cheyennecountryclub.com Ken Yamada Tennis Department News

Dining Room and Bar News Once again, spring is here and summer is near. Everyone needs to pull out the old golf clubs, tennis racks, and swimming suits, dust them off and get ready for the warm weather. We ve had a great 1 st Quarter in the restaurant and expect it to continue into the next Quarter. April, May and June are the beginning of the busy season at the club if the weather cooperates, so with that, the restaurant will be picking up and to ensure that you have a table available when you come out to enjoy golf, tennis, pool, or the restaurant, make your reservation early. As some of you have seen so far this year, there may be times when you think that the restaurant won t be busy so you just come out to be disappointed that we are full and you can t get in to dine. In the 1 st Quarter Chef Don and I, with the help of the ladies in the Business Office, started sending out the Weekend Specials. This gives everyone a heads up on what the specials are prior to coming out to the Club. Making a reservation will help to insure that you can get your favorite special. Hopefully this is helping everyone to make their decision of where to dine in Cheyenne. In April, Chef Don and I will be attending a Food Expo in Las Vegas for a couple of days to get some new ideas for menu items for the summer. There will be 82 Vendors and 60 Culinary Chefs showing their new food items and cooking techniques during the two day show. We are looking forward to learning about some new items and bringing back some new food for the summer. We will be rolling out a new lunch, dinner & pool menu in May. The Golf Snack Shack (weather permitting), will be open 16 May with limited hours, which will be posted in the Pro Shop. It will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays in May, but will be open 7 days a week starting in June. The Pool Snack Shack will open Memorial Day weekend and will run in conjunction with the pool hours thru Labor Day weekend. Say good-bye to the umbrellas on the Patio. Hopefully by the middle of April we will have a retractable awning installed that can be opened when needed. Which will be remotely controlled by the manager or bartender. We will be opening the Patio area once the new awning is installed and there will be seating available (weather permitting) around the 1 st of May. I recommend reservations for the Patio area as well as the rest of the dining areas.

Dining Room and Bar News Sunday Brunch will continue throughout the summer and we expect it to be busier as more and more people like this concept, so please make sure to make a reservation so that we know how much food to prepare in order to not run out of product prior to the closing of the buffet. REMINDER: The hours for the Brunch Buffet is Sunday 9:00am to 1:00pm. (May close early if we run out of product). APRIL: MAY: JUNE: JULY: Wednesday, 11 th Wine School 6-9pm UPCOMING EVENTS Friday, 27 th Mac n Dan (Free Concert) 6-9pm Saturday, 28 th Far East Cuisine Buffet 6-9pm Wednesday, 2 nd CCC Ladies Luncheon 11:30-1:30pm Saturday, 5 th Kentucky Derby 2-5pm Saturday, 5 th Cinco de Mayo Buffet 6-9pm Sunday, 13 th Mother s Day Brunch 10-2pm Thursday, 18 th Annual Membership Meeting 5:30pm Saturday, 26 th Pool Opens Monday, 28 th Memorial Day BBQ Buffet 11-4pm Saturday, 16 th Mac n Dan (Free Concert) 6-9pm Sunday, 17 th Father s Day Brunch 10-1pm Wednesday, 20 th Wine Tasting with the Boogie Machine 6-9pm Wednesday, 4 th July 4 th BBQ Buffet 1-5pm Wednesday, 18 th Beer Tasting 6-9pm As always, please feel free to contact me with comments, suggestions or ideas about making your club a better place to come to build and enjoy friendships. Business Office News Happy Spring to all. May 17th 2018 is our annual Member Meeting. Everyone is invited to come out and meet your staff and Board. We have three Board of Directors spots opening. If you are interested in running for the Board of Directors, please let me know. I will ask that you send me a bio and why you want to run for the Board along with a picture of yourself. Please let me know as soon as possible. Even if you don't want to run for the Board of Directors you are still invited to come out and participate in the discussion and vote (as long as you are in good standing). You may have noticed we sent you a directory update sheet. If you need changes please let me know. If we do not hear from you we will use the same information as last year. I anyone would like to have a locker for the year or sign up for Club Care or handicaps please let us know. Now is the time to get ready for golf season. If you have any questions please contact me or Jane at dawn@cheyennecountryclub.com and 637-2200/637-2201. Dawn Bates

Grounds Department News With the arrival of spring brings hope for some late season snow storms or even better some spring rain showers. The golf course seems to have wintered well, as things start to green up we will see how we did over the winter. The maintenance staff is excited to get the season going and get out of the shop! We will be putting out our first fertilizer application the first week of April. After that we will start thinking about aerification. The greens will have been aerified and over seeded by the time this reaches you. The tees and fairways will be aerified at the beginning of the month of April. Please bare with us through this process as it only will benefit the golf course in the long run. With the long dry winter season behind us we will be focused on repairing any areas that may have suffered turf loss through the winter. If there is a need to cover something we will do so and will keep everyone posted on changes for the spring. Please understand it is our goal to have the golf course as good as possible at all times and that we are here for you and your guests. As a reminder, we have reached the point in the year where we do not allow dogs on the golf course. I would like all members to know that in the winter we expect all members to pick up after their dogs. We are excited about our returning summer staff- they are all great kids! Some of them have been here for multiple summers and enjoy the challenges that come with working here at the Cheyenne Country Club. We look forward to this year s extremely busy summer months. As you all can see there is a lot going on with the golf course and I m sure there might be some questions or maybe even concerns. Please don t hesitate to contact me. Matt Whalen

Golf Department News The weather is getting better and the time is drawing nearer to golf season. We are looking forward to a great year. Staffing wise; John Reilly is back for another season of fun and mayhem. Jeff Gillotti has moved on to manage the ice arena, so we won t have him this year. Stephen Grandpre is set to move inside for good and will take Jeff s place. Steve has hinted that he might want to make golf a permanent vocation. I hope he does because he is a great addition to wherever he would end up. Pat Cunningham will move inside on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and work a couple of days a week in outside services. Pat is graduating from UW this May and will be a welcome addition to the inside staff. As far as the outside services goes, I haven t quite finalized them, but they will be ready to go as soon as the season gets going. The hours of the golf shop will be as follows: March we will open at 9:00 a.m., April we will open at 8:00 a.m. and May we will open at 7:00 a.m. All of these will be weather permitting. We will always be open by 9:00 a.m. Summer hours will be 7:00 to dark on the weekdays and 6:30 until dark on the weekends. One final thing about opening the golf course; if the frost delay signs are up, we will not put anything out until they are taken down. We would appreciate your cooperation. For those of you who don t know about club storage. We will store your clubs, clean them, shaft band them and insure them from fire or theft, all for $80.00 dollars per year. The only thing we can t insure them against is damage from rodents (squirrels). To prevent the squirrels from chewing up your bags, please don t keep any food items in your golf bags. This does include gum and candy. If you have been in storage and wish to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible. If you do not wish to have a handicap this year, please notify us by May 1 st, so that we can cancel you. We get billed for them then, so we need to know before that date. As most of you know by now, my wife does all of the ordering in the golf shop. We will get merchandise in weekly now until the first of May. New merchandise will come in every two weeks or so throughout the season.

Golf Department News Each year we go to the merchandise show in Orlando to make sure we have the best available merchandise for the best price we can get. We offer all of our hard goods, clothes, and shoes at a 20% discount. This year, for those of you who are interested in new clubs, we will offer ten different sets of clubs you may take on the golf course and play a round with before you must make any decision on what you would like to buy. After you have been fit, we will suggest a set to try. This way you don t have to guess which clubs you would like. It is amazing how different clubs look when you are on the golf course compared to when you are on the driving range. As I said before, you will get your 20% discount on any hard goods, clothes or shoes you purchase in the golf shop. This 20% discount gets all of the merchandise down to what Dicks sells them for. The magnets of the year s golf events will be out soon, so make sure you pay attention to what you want to play in as well as when the course might be closed. We will try to email everyone in time for all upcoming events. The dates for Junior Golf will be on the magnets. You may sign up anytime after the 15 th of May. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to a great 2018 golf season!!! Ken Krieger
