Junior 1 Description: Entry level, developing competitive swimming skills Age: 6-9 2 lengths(50 yards) of freestyle with side breathing 1 length of Back swimming non-stop Tread water in deep end for 30 seconds Streamline off wall under water for 5 yards Enjoy swimming and demonstrate sportsmanship and teamwork Learn basic fundamental technical aspects of all four strokes Swim a 200 I.M. with proper technique, non-stop Perform basic starts and turns (racing starts, flip turns, open turns) start time. Be open to try new swimming techniques and drills. Be willing to learn to compete. Demonstrate a positive attitude. Participate in practice on a regular basis.
Junior 2 Description: Basic Competitive Development Age: 8-12 6 x 50 Free @ 1:05 6 x 100 I.M. @ 2:30 500 Free under 10:00 with bi-lateral breathing At least TWO 9-10 B times Enjoy Swimming with a positive attitude and demonstrate team spirit Minimum of THREE practices a week is required Demonstrate and perform all strokes and skills such as drills Attend at least ONE competition per month as noted in the meet schedule Streamline up to 10 Meters off wall with proper technique Take personal responsibility for stretching, warm-up, and cool down Understand and demonstrate a 200 stroke with negative splits Achieve at least ONE Pac A time in all strokes Master interval training on specific practice intervals (know the clock) Open to share your personal swimming goals with your coach Nutritional awareness start time. Be able to demonstrate new swimming techniques and drills. Able to compete at swim meets on a regular basis. Demonstrate a positive attitude and encourage others with team spirit.
Senior 1 Description: Competitive Training Age: 11 + 10 x 50 Free @ :50 3,000 For Time without stopping 8 x 100s IM @ 2:00 500 Free negative split 7:00boys/7:30girls At least ONE 11-12 Pac-A time in all strokes Be a positive role model within the Hills team Minimum of FOUR practices a week is required Attend all competitions recommended by the coach Wear appropriate attire from direction of the coach, including team gear and swim suits. Conduct themselves with honor and selflessness at all competitions and practices. Be active in fundraising and volunteering time to assist swim lessons or Junior Group practice. Must live lifestyle appropriate for achieving greatest personal success Understanding Nutritional Management No drugs, tobacco products, alcohol consumption Display ability to communicate with the coach Not rely on parents to communicate for them Willingness and positive attitude to perform at every event prescribed by the coach start time. Frequent tardiness is not accepted. Swimmers should consider swimming as their primary extracurricular activity. Demonstrate a positive attitude and solid effort at all times. Bring appropriate equipment and attire (water bottles at practice are required).
Senior 2 2011-2012 Description: Training to Win Age: 13+ 8 x 100s Free @ 1:15boys/1:25girls 3,000 For Time under 41min.boys/45min.girls 8 x 100s IM @ 1:25boys/1:35girls At least ONE 13-14 Junior Olympic Qualifying Time (JR+ time) Be a positive role model within the Hills team 90% of practice is required (The coach retains discretion of accepting absences which do not count against the attendance figure) Attend 90% of all strength training workouts Attend all competitions recommended by the coach Wear appropriate attire from direction of the coach, including team gear and swim suits. Conduct themselves with honor and selflessness at all competitions and practices. Limited interference from high school season (swimmers must compete at all required meets and practices during this season) Be active in fundraising and volunteering time to assist swim lessons or Junior Group practice. Must live lifestyle appropriate for achieving greatest personal success Proper Nutrition for training No drugs, tobacco products, alcohol consumption Parent involvement in swimming decisions is minimum Display ability to communicate with the coach Not rely on parents to communicate for them Willingness and positive attitude to perform at every event prescribed by the coach. Strive to attend all Junior Olympic/Far Western/Senior Level Meets posted on the schedule start time. Frequent tardiness is not accepted.
