About SIU Head Coach Justin Ingram In his first four seasons, Justin Ingram has revitalized the Saluki Volleyball program and returned the excitement back to Davies Gym. He has help make Southern Illinois a nationally recognized program. Ingram, the 2015 MVC Coach of the Year, has guided the Salukis to Three 20-win seasons in his first 4 years. For the first time in SIU history, the Salukis have made 4 consecutive Missouri Valley Conference Tournament appearances. In 2013, the Salukis came away with a 2nd place finish in the MVC Tournament. In 2015, Ingram and the Salukis had their best year finishing in 2nd in the MVC as well as earning an at-large bid to the 2015 NCAA TOURNAMENT for the first time in school history. SIU also finished the season with the highest RPI in school history, 41. Coach Ingram brings 17 years of Division 1 coaching experience. He and his staff combine for 39 years of Division 1 coaching experience and have experience working and running camps all over the country. Coach Ingram directs and leads all of SIU s camps and clinics. Every summer we are excited to host our Saluki Volleyball campers. It s a great opportunity to work with young people, help them improve, and pass along our love of the game of volleyball. Individual Camp and Clinic Information Offense Clinic Date: June 11, 2016 Cost $75 One day clinic open to any and all players entering 5th grade through 12th grade. This specialty clinic is designed for setters and hitters (OH/MH/RS) to learn position specific techniques relating to offense. The clinic will focus on attacking techniques, footwork, and developing shots for hitters while setters learn setting techniques, tempo, and set location. Lunch will be provided to the campers and they will also all receive a Saluki Volleyball Under Armour t-shirt. Defense Clinic Date: June 12, 2016 Cost: $75 One day clinic open to any and all players entering 5th grade through 12th grade. This specialty clinic is designed to improve ball control skills and individual defense. The clinic will cover serve receive and defense techniques for back row players (L/DS/S) as well as blocking and defense for front row players (OH/MH/ RS/S). Lunch will be provided to the campers and they will also all receive a Saluki Volleyball Under Armour t-shirt. Offense and Defense Clinic Special Cost: $140 Special price for attending BOTH the Offense and Defense Clinic. This special is only good for these two clinics. Serve and Skills Clinic Date: June 18, 2016 Cost: $75 One day clinic open to any and all players entering grades K through those entering 12th grade. This clinic is for improving serving and ball control technique. All skill levels are welcome from beginner to advanced. The clinic will cover all types of serves and ball control techniques. Players will be broken up into groups so that they can work on different types of serves based on their level of comfort and experience. The clinic will also include fun serving and ball control games. Lunch will be provided to the campers and they will also all receive a Saluki Volleyball Under Armour t-shirt. Junior High Camp Date: July 9-10, 2016 Cost: $270 (Overnight) / $225 (Commuter) For any and all girls entering 5th grade through those entering 8th grade, camp is open to all skill levels and positions. The camp provides enthusiastic teaching of fundamental skills and teamwork. Campers will learn and improve basic skills such as passing, setting, hitting, blocking, serving, and digging. They will also be introduced to advanced techniques, such as offensive and defensive systems and serve receive rotations. This will happen as they learn to work within a team environment as camp will include many 6 v 6 games incorporating all of the things taught at the camp. Each camper will receive and Saluki Volleyball Under Armour t-shirt. High School Camp Date: July 9-10, 2016 Cost: $270 (Overnight) $225 (Commuter) For any and all girls entering 9th grade through those entering 12th grade, camp is open to all skill levels and positions. The camp provides technical and tactical training for those looking to maximize their volleyball potential. Campers will receive outstanding instruction to improve their knowledge and skill in all aspects of the game. In addition to working on all skills, campers will also learn about offensive systems, defensive systems, and serve receive rotations. The campers will incorporate everything in team competitions and games. Each camper will receive and Saluki Volleyball Under Armour t-shirt. Team Camp Information Date: July 16-17, 2016 Cost: $150 (Overnight) $105 (Commuter) Team Camp is open to BOTH middle school and high school teams (JV and Varsity). This camp offers teams the opportunity to receive skill and system training in a tournament style environment against other schools. Teams will work with each other in a fun environment building team chemistry. The camp will cover serve receive rotations, as well as different offensive and defensive systems. Each team will then play games against other teams with the chance to incorporate and improve their team play. Every team will be paired with a camp coach (a SIU Coach or SIU Player). It is a great way for teams and coaches to prepare for the upcoming season! Other Information: A school coach is not required to be at the camp with the team. Every Camper will receive a Saluki Volleyball Under Armour t-shirt. A minimum 6 players is required for the team (7-8 is preferred). Schools can break up larger teams into 2 camp teams and can move players throughout the camp. NO MEALS ARE PROVIDED with this camp (for both overnight or commuter teams). An eating area will be available for teams to bring food in.
General Facilities General Camp Information All camps and clinics are open to all entrants limited only by the number, age, grade level and/or gender. Campers should wear athletic shoes and athletic gear for all camp sessions. Please do not wear any apparel from another college. We want to promote our SALUKI pride! Club and High School apparel is more then welcome! An Athletic Trainer will be on hand for every session and will be available inbetween sessions to handle any issues. All of our camps and clinics are sponsored by Gatorade, so Gatorade and water stations will be available to all campers throughout camp. All sessions are open for viewing by any parents, family, or friends. All Saluki Volleyball Camps and Clinics are held in the SIU Arena or Davies Gym, depending on the size of the camp. Both are located on the campus of SIU and are air conditioned. These great facilities are the same ones Saluki Volleyball plays and practices in. Campers who choose to stay overnight will be housed in one of the air conditioned SIU dorms. Camp counselors will be in the residence halls with the campers, providing overnight supervision. In addition, SIU provides residence hall and campus security. A coach will pass out the room keys to the campers when they get to the dorm and will collect the keys the following morning. Roommates will be assigned at that point. If the camper would like to room with someone, they can include it on their registration form or tell the SIU Coach during check-in. Campers will bring all their stuff into check-in at either the Arena or Davies Gym. What to bring: Linens (sheets, blanket (extra blanket if you get cold), pillow to fit a long twin size bed) Toiletries (shampoo, soap, tooth brush, tooth paste, contact solution, etc.) Alarm clock (if not one on phone) and phone charger Any other personal items, snacks, extra shoes and clothes, etc. Campers must check in and out of the dorms at the designated time. Satellite Camps Bring the SALUKI VOLLEYBALL program to your school! Satellite camps are designed based on the needs of your team and can provide skill training, positional training, and team system training. Camps can be tailored around or schedule in terms of number of days or number of sessions. We will also customize the sessions to help cover specific areas you want your team to work on. Cost of the camp will vary depending on the number of kids and the number of sessions/days. A minimum of 12 kids is required (for 6 vs 6 drills). Camp/Clinic Descriptions Full camp descriptions can be found online by going to the Volleyball page at www.siusalukis.com. Click on the Camps tab at the top of the page for more information about camps and clinics as well as a copy of the registration form and the medical release form. Registration Complete registration is needed to be able to participate in ANY SIU Clinic or Camp. This includes a completed REGISTRATION FORM and MEDICAL RELEASE FORM. Any camp payment must be paid in full before the start of the corresponding camp or clinic. If any of this is not complete and turned in, you will not be able to participate. Advanced Registration Registration may be made by phone or by email with a VISA, MasterCard, or Discover. Call (618) 453-5476 or email salukivolleyballcamps@gmail.com. Checks can also be sent to the mailing address at the bottom of the registration. The appropriate payment should accompany the registration form. A minimum $50 deposit is required at the time of registration to ensure a spot a camp. This deposit will be applied towards the full registration with the remaining balance payable upon arrival at the camp to complete your registration. Full payment in advance will greatly reduce the time required at check-in. Advance registration is encouraged to reserve your spot. Therefore, we cannot guarantee your accommodations without advance notice of your attendance. Cancellation/Refund Policy: ALL requests for refunds must be submitted in writing. Your camp cost, less a $15 cancellation fee, will be refunded if you cancel at least 7 business days prior to the camp. At any time after that date, refunds (less the $15 non-refundable fee) are made for medical reasons only and all such requests must have a signed statement from your physician. If a medical cancellation request is not received by the last day of instruction, a refund will not be issued. Refunds are not given to campers who voluntarily leave camp or who are sent home for disciplinary reasons. Discounts: Due to NCAA regulations, discounts are not available unless specified by the specific camp. Camps are not pro-rated.
