OFFICIAL VOLLEYBALL RULES of the 2017 KAPAMILYA VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT As approved by KOTC Basketball Organizing Services Makati City, June 11, 2017 Amended and Effective as of 3 July 2017 IN COOPERATION WITH:

OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS I. General Provisions 1. Except otherwise stated below, all games will be played under the 2015-2016 FIVB Official Volleyball rules. http://ebook.cev.lu/general/officialvolleyballrules/files/assets/basic-html/page-1.html 2. KOTC Basketball Organizing Services shall serve as the policy making body of the the tournament, who shall review and implement the rules at all times, as well as having the right to amend or supersede its portions accordingly. Consequently, it has the power to make decisions on any point not specifically covered by these rules. 3. Except for the assigned coach, captain, or team representative, no verbal protest or questions will be entertained if it were leveled against any decision of the referee and/or official. An assistant team captain can be designated if the captain is not available during the game. 4. Players must conduct themselves in the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship at all times, and must adhere to the rules governed by ABS-CBN s Code of Conduct. II. Tournament Format 1. The participating eighteen (18) teams shall be grouped into four (4) brackets; two brackets will have 4 teams each, the other two brackets will have 5 teams each. 2. The top 4 teams of the previous tournament will be distributed among the 4 brackets. The remaining teams shall be randomly grouped through a drawing of lots. 3. The top two teams with the most number of Team Wins in each bracket shall go into the Quarter-Final Round. 4. In the event of 2 or more teams in a group having the same number of Team Wins, the following computation shall be used to break the tie: total number of points accumulated by the team in all matches total points accumulated by the opposing teams in all matches Team with highest ratio wins the tie.

Games in the quarter-final to final rounds are as follows: A1 D1 B1 C1 A2 D2 B2 C2 Assumption : A1 and A2 Teams Win Assumption : C1 and B1 Teams Win A1 VS B1 A2 VS C1 Assumption : A1 Team Wins Assumption : C1 Team Wins B1 Battle for 3rd Place A2 6. Game format will be best of three (3) sets for the eliminations, while best of five (5) sets for the quarterfinals, semifinals & finals. 7. Games will be played to 25 points. In case of a 24 24 tie, play is continued until a two point lead is achieved or first team to reach 30 points in all sets during the eliminations. 8. During the quarterfinals, semi-finals & finals, games on the fifth set will be played to 15. In case of a 14 14 tie, play is continued until a two point lead is achieved.

III. Uniforms 1. Players are required to wear their team uniforms at all times, complete with identifying name and number at the back. 2. Players on the same team shall not wear the same number. Players shall use numbers 0 and 00 and from 1-99 only. The number assigned to each player shall be permanent for the duration of the tournament, and will no longer be allowed to change numbers. 3. No switching of jerseys, and placing of tape or any other form of adhesive to alter the design will be allowed, unless otherwise approved by the technical committee a day before the game. 4. Uniforms with size concerns must be raised to the committee prior to the game. 5. No wearing of jewelry or accessories of any kind (necklace, earrings, etc.) IV. Player Eligibility: 1. Must submit official line-up to the Technical Committee on the said deadline. 2. A team can submit not more than twenty-five (25) players. 3. Only 15 sets of uniforms will be shouldered by the company. 4. Players lined-up in a team must be reporting to the division as stated in the Team Name. In case a player s division will not be forming a team, he/she may join another team within the same LOB/cluster. 5. Officials per team must be composed of a Coach and a Team Captain (which can be both players as well). 6. All players and coaches must submit all required documents to the HR Employee Relations Group prior to the start of the tournament. a. Fully accomplished registration form of line-up singed by the Division Head, Captain, and Coach b. Signed conforme of the rules & regulations of the basketball tournament by the team captain 7. The Technical Committee reserves the right to disqualify any players (even in the middle of the tournament) who are found to be ineligible. (Players that are eligible to play are ABS-CBN including its subsidiaries regular employees, IJMs, direct-hired contractuals and consultants, agency-hired employees.) 8. Agency-hired employees are those who are outsourced or are connected to any 3 rd party and are currently deployed to any ABS-CBN s division or subsidiary. 9. All teams must attend the opening ceremonies. Each team must have at least 10 players present. Teams who have less than 10 players at the opening will forfeit their first game s allowance. 10. A player who resigned at any time during the tournament will only be eligible to play up to the last day of employment. 11. No new players can be added to the lineup once the tournament begins. If found guilty by the Technical Committee, the team shall forfeit all the games they played with the player/s that were not part of the official line-up. V. General Gameplay Rules 1. Not all present players are required to play. Any player from the bench can substitute any player inside the court at any given point of the game.

2. Any player who fails to play at least once of their assigned games in the elimination round will disqualify their team from moving on to the quarter finals. 3. Minimum player composition requirement for a game to start will be 5 female players and 1 male player. However, a team is allowed to field a maximum of three (3) male players at any given time. 4. If a team is unable to meet the minimum requirement stated in Art. V, Sec. 3 at the allotted waiting time stated in Art. V, Sec. 6, the team defaults the game. 5. Only the Team Coach and the players in complete uniform are allowed in the bench area. Spectators can stand around the perimeter of the volleyball court or at the bleachers across the bench. 6. Defaulting time of fifteen minutes (15 minutes) will start at the specified time of the game. ABS-CBN time will be followed. The default time will be strictly implemented even if the present team is willing to wait for the opposing team to arrive. 7. A team who defaults a game also forfeits the team allowance due to them. 8. Ruling on male players are as follows: a. 1 st line (1 st line of players) i. Male players may hit the ball in any manner as long as the ball is below the height of the net. If the male player uses underhand, the ball may land on the first line of the opponent s side. If he hits the ball overhead, the ball must either land on his team s side or at the second line of the opponent. If the ball grazes the net and lands on the first line of the opponent s side, it will be considered a violation. ii. Male players may not hit the ball above the net. iii. Male players can block, given the following conditions. b. 2 nd line (2 nd line of players) 1. Male players are allowed to jump during blocking 2. Male players must not use any downward force or wrist action during blocking i. Male players may hit the ball in any manner for as long as he is at the 2 nd line of players ii. Male players may hit the ball overhead and may land on the first line of the opponent. 1. Take-off for jumping spike should be before the attack line. 9. Ruling on players with exceptional skills are as follows: a. Exceptional players must be declared by the Team Captain prior to the start of the tournament. b. Male and female exceptional players must adapt ruling on male players, except otherwise specified below. In addition to this, they are not allowed to jump when spiking. Only standing spike will be allowed. In addition, Jumpy serve will not be allowed. c. Only one (1) exceptional player will be allowed on the floor at any given time.

d. Identification of said players will be subject to the decision of the Technical Committee thru the following procedure: i. The Team Captain of the opposing team will approach the technical committee and identify the player with exceptional skills. ii. The technical committee will deliberate during the game. The decision will take effect on the succeeding games of the team of the identified player. A team who walks out of the game for any reason, losses the game and shall be charged the corresponding administrative expenses for the cancelled game. 13. Incidents involving misconduct, inflicting physical injury to other person & other analogous cases, shall be dealt with in accordance to the Company s Code of Conduct. Furthermore, involved players shall be suspended from the remaining games that follow after. 14. A player thrown out by the official referee for unsportsmanlike behavior will be suspended in ALL the team s succeeding games and from the next volleyball tournament. Involved players will not be allowed to be replaced. 15. Sec. 12, 13 and 14 cover both the players inside the court and on the bench 16. Teams that will incur at least 2 default games or fail to finish the whole season will be reviewed for disqualification in the next volleyball tournament.

VI. Service 1. Server must serve from behind the end line until after contact 2. Ball may be served underhand or overhand 3. Ball must be clearly visible to opponents before serve 4. Served ball may graze the net and drop to the other side for point 5. First game serve is determined by a volley, each subsequent game shall be served by the previous game loser 6. Serve must be returned by a bump only. No setting or attacking a serve 7. Jumpy serves shall not be allowed. Should a player commit this violation, the point will be awarded to the opponent. VII. Scoring 1. Rally scoring will be used. 2. There will be a point scored on every score of the ball. 3. Offense will score on a defense miss or out of bounds hit. 4. Defense will score on an offensive miss, out of bounds hit, or serve into the net. VIII. Gameplay 1. Maximum of three hits per side 2. Player may not hit the ball twice in succession (A block is not considered a hit) 3. A ball touching a boundary line is good 4. A legal hit is contact with the ball by a player which does not allow the ball to visibly come to a rest 5. If two or more players contact the ball simultaneously, it is considered one play and the players involved may not participate in the next play 6. A player must not block or attack a serve IX. Basic Rule Violations 1. Stepping on or over the line on a serve 2. Failure to serve the ball over the net successfully 3. Hitting the ball illegally (Carrying, Palming, Throwing, etc.) 4. Reaching over the net, except under these conditions: a. When executing a follow-through b. When blocking a ball which is in the opponent s court but is being returned (the blocker must not contact the ball until after the opponent who is attempting to return the ball makes contact) except to block the third play 5. Reaches under the net (if it interferes with the ball or opposing player) 6. Failure to serve in the correct order 7. Blocks or spikes from a position which is clearly not behind the 10-foot line while in a back row position X. Protest Procedure

1. If, during a KOTC Basketball Organizing Services official competition, a team believes its interests have been adversely affected by a decision of an official, or by any event that took place during or after a game, it must proceed in the following manner: a. The captain or team representative shall, immediately during or after the game, inform the technical committee verbally that his team is protesting against the result of the game. b. The captain or team representative shall then send to the technical committee his team s written protest through a hard copy or e-mail within 24-hours after the verbal intent. Any other forms will be considered invalid. c. Should the decision be in favor of the protest, the forfeiting/penalized team may submit a final appeal, which must be in written format through hard copy or e-mail. 2. In the event of protests (eligibility, uniform, etc.) or appeals, Kings of the Court has the right to conduct a thorough investigation regarding the matter, and will have their verdict. Once this has been declared, it is considered final and irreversible, except otherwise granted under Art. X, Section 1c. 3. Videos, films, pictures or any equipment, visual, electronic, digital, or otherwise, may be used to determine XI. Others responsibility in matters of discipline or for educational (training) purposes only. 1. KOTC Basketball Organizing Services has the full discretion in cancelling or postponing games due to a force majeure event, such as but not limited to acts of God (any natural calamity, flooding, earthquake, etc.), war, riot, or acts or threats of terrorism, and shall reschedule the event to another date and/or a suitable venue acceptable to the teams. It shall, however do so not later than 1:00pm through the assigned coaches and team captains. 2. Should a game be cancelled at any time during the game, it shall be rescheduled and continue from the exact scenario from the time the game was postponed. This includes fielded players, official score and time, and player statistics. 3. The bench area will be exclusive only for the players of the team and their assigned coach. Guests of the players should be by the bleachers for the audience. 4. In whatever case the succeeding games will be delayed, the scoreboard operator may decide to shorten the warm-ups of both teams, as well as dead ball situations to ensure the game be played according to the schedule. COMPANY CODE OF CONDUCT Please be reminded that this tournament is a company activity, therefore all employees participating in the tournament whether as players or audience shall be bound by the ABS-CBN Code of Conduct.
