HORSE PROJECT LEADER INFOR- MATION: DID YOU KNOW? For horse project support I d recommend your new leader check out the 4-H project link on our web page for horses at this link http://4h.missouri.edu/projects/ projects3.htm#horses There are tons of free resources to help them get started. The Youth Leaders Manual notes book is still current. It supposed to be a check out item cause it costs about $50 to replace. Leaders can make copies of the worksheets. Let me know if you want an email copy of the manual and I ll send you one. The most current horse project leader help guide (these are lesson plans) is available as a CD from Extension publications as LG1470 for $4. Or you can burn a copy to give your leader by going to the S: drive, look under the projects folder; then go to horse modules. I d burn the pdf version for the CD to give to your leader. Rather than buying an Every time every ride video check out these from the internet. I think they ll accomplish the same outcome. http:// www.google.com/search? q=every+time+every+ride&rls=com.mi crosoft:en-us&ie=utf-8&oe=utf- 8&startIndex=&startPage=1 Hope this helps get you started. The link for the opportunities list can be found at http://4h.missouri.edu/events/horse / NATIONAL 4-H CONFERENCE NEW PROCESS FOR SELECTING DELE- GATES FOR THE 2013-14 PROGRAM YEAR Teresa Bishop Are you interested in government, public policy or working with others to solve a problem in your community? National 4-H Conference may be the place for you. It is the premier professional and leadership development event for 4-H members (15-19). While at National Conference you will work with other youth to create solutions to some of today s social problems such as distracted driving, childhood obesity and others. You will then have the opportunity to present your ideas to government agencies that can put your ideas to work such as the National Institute for Health, the National Traffic Safety Board and others. You will learn effective ways to advocate for an issue and can bring these skills home to your local community. If you are interested in this opportunity you will need to complete the Level 3 State Excellence Award form, answer an additional four questions about your Citizenship experiences and if selected for Regional or State judging prepare up to a five minute presentation about a current topic. Youth may only participate in this conference once. You may apply multiple times as long as you are still age eligible. 3
