News Backpacks for Kids The fundraising for Backpacks for Kids supplies is underway. Out goal is to fill 720 backpacks that we have already purchased. UPDATE!! Our estimate on the costs to fill backpacks was low. We are pursuing discounts from local merchants, however our assumption of $10 per backpack was incorrect. PLEASE strongly consider additional contribution to this project. We currently have funds totaling about $4000 which will only support about 260 backpacks. We will be collecting cash donations to purchase the supplies to fill the backpacks. The cash donation approach will allow bulk purchasing of supplies at lower costs. Donations will be collected at club meetings through June 18 or can be mailed to Rotary Charities Donations are needed by June 18 th. We had a very successful golf tournament on Thursday June 12 at the Moses Lake Golf Club. Net revenue set a new record at about $11,100. Thank you to everyone that were sponsors or golfers! Kudos go to the following people: * Rotarian Juliann Dodds and Kiwanian PJ DeBenedetti sold a record $4,000 worth of Super Tickets to the golfers. The Super Ticket covered all of our side games. * Kiwanian Juanita Richards was responsible for selling a record $590 on the Ping Pang Pong split the pot. And this was after golfers already bought Super Tickets that covered $800 in ping pong ball purchases. * Tony Webb (not the PUD Tony Webb) donated back to the cause his $695 in winnings from Ping Pang Pong. * Rotarian John Overland donated back to the cause his $420 in winnings from 52 Card Pickup. Way to go John!!!!!!!!! Please let the Public Image Committee know of any additional News.
