Recommendations For Making Delray Beach a Sports Destination Create a strategic plan for developing Delray Beach as a Sports Destination. Host a planning session with the County and City s sports leadership with a trained facilitator to develop a strategic plan for growing events and increasing economic impact. Potential Attendees: PBCSC, DBMC, Sharon Painter, Elev8, ITC, Parks and Rec, Prep & Sports, Delray Beach Athletic Club, Hyatt Place, Marriott, Seagate, etc. Designate one person or agency to oversee the coordination of these groups in carrying out the strategic plan Begin to create a plan for upgrading the Delray Beach Tennis Center and Golf Course. Look at ways to improve the field and gym at Atlantic High School. Look at adding a football field for Village Academy with track and field capacity. Create marketing materials that promote the City and County sports venues located in Delray Beach. Work with private Country Clubs to see if they would be open to hosting outside golf or tennis events Look at ways to expand with baseball, lacrosse, soccer, track and field and more beach volleyball.
