Broadmoor Golf Club Website: www.broadmoor.com 1 Lake Avenue Colorado Springs, CO 80906 Central/Northern Colorado Phone: (719)577-5777 Architect: Donald Ross and Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Normal Season: Open All Year Membership The world-famous BROADMOOR means many things to many different people, but to the golfer it signifies three superb and challenging championship golf courses. Donald Ross designed the original 18-hole course in 1918, which was 6,617 yards and a par 74. In 1958, Robert Trent Jones, Sr. completed the design for another nine holes, and he finished a second 18- hole course incorporating the Ross holes in 1965. The final layout has resulted in a combination of Donald Ross and Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designs on each course.the BROADMOOR golf experience has expanded with the addition of the Mountain Course. Created by Nicklaus Design to incorporate the natural beauty of the area, the Mountain Course is a challenging test of golf from the back tees, but player-friendly from the forward and middle tees. Cherry Hills Country Club Website: www.chcc.com 4125 S. University Blvd. Cherry Hills Village, CO 80113 Phone: (303) 350-5200 Architect: William Flynn The magnificent William S. Flynn treasure has been host to 10 major championships, including the 1938, 1960 and 1978 U.S. Open, the 1941 and 1985 PGA Championship and the 1990 U.S. Amateur. Built in 1922, the course plays to 7,466 yards and a par of 71 for championship golf. At more than a mile above sea level, the course plays shorter than its yardage, but lulls a contestant into a false sense of security over the shorter earlier holes and then bursts into all its fury at the par-3 8th. The finishing holes are some of the most memorable in all of golf. Cherry Hills certainly has earned its place on the American golf landscape. Not only have nine USGA competitions been held here, but two PGA Championships have been staged on the 7,000-plus-yard layout. The champions have included some of the game s greats: Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, Jay Sigel, Hubert Green, Andy North, Ralph Guldahl, Vic Ghezzi and Lewis Oehmig. Page 9 of 44
