He led them to their first winning season since the 2001 02 season. Of the 31 games played, UTPA played 21 on the road, winning 10. The Broncs won 11 of their last 14 games finishing five games above.500 Stoll was cited as a first team All Independent selection as he led the Broncs to 18 victories. He finished the season averaging a team high 14.2 points 7.2 assists per game Stoll picked up 224 assists (second in the nation) on an average of 7.2 per game (third in nation). The Lansing, MI native was featured on ESPN Around the Rim, was cited as Independent Player of the Week, selected as the 12th Mid Majority Baller of the Week and collected All Tournament team honors on two occasions Trader was selected as a second team All Independent team award recipient; finished second on the team averaging 13.9 points per game to go along with a team/career high 5.9 rebounds per game Trader was listed in the top 10 among all NCAA Division I Independent players in total rebounds and rebounds per game; recorded six double doubles this past season Hawkins represented the All Newcomer team where he finished second in field goal percentage and fourth on the team in scoring and in rebounding Burrell finished the season averaging 13.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game; earned honorable mention accolades Shankle ended his Bronc career averaging 7.0 points and 1.6 assists per game. He led the Broncs offensively with a 47.8 mark from behind the arc Jones made an immediate impact on the squad despite missing part of the season due to illness. Went on a 13 2 run to take a 19 14 lead with 6:10 on the clock in the first half The Broncs held the lead up until 8:30 to play when Savannah took a 44 43 lead. The Broncs only trailed for 25 seconds as Dexter Shankle nailed a threepointer to make the score 46 44 The Broncs shot 73.7 percent in the second half, including 7 10 from behind the arc and 19 27 from the charity stripe For the game, the Broncs shot 53.5 percent from the field compared to the Tigers 39.0 percent The six seniors went out with a bang combing for 61 points 78 percent of the Broncs total offense TWO BRONCS EARN ALL TOURNAMENT ACCOLADES With an outstanding performance at the Iowa Realty Tournament hosted by Drake University, Emmanuel Jones was selected to the All Tournament team. Physical Education / 1980) Mississippi State University (M.A. Physical Education / 1981) Years at UTPA: Third Season Record at UTPA: 30 28 Schuberth became the fifth coach in UTPA program history to win his debut at the helm for the Broncs. The UTPA head coach became the first coach in program history to begin his career with a 5 1 record with the Broncs. Schuberth was introduced as the 13th coach in UTPA history on April 21, 2006. Upon being introduced to the Rio Grande Valley as the Broncs head coach, Schuberth brought 24 years of coaching experience to UTPA that included 11 NCAA Tournaments, two Sweet Sixteen appearance as well as trips to both the Elite Eight and Final Four. Schuberth has been a part of 12 different 20 win programs and has coached 14 conference championship squads in five separate NCAA Division I Conferences. Known in many coaching circles as a tremendous recruiter, Schuberth helped put together the top ranked recruiting class in the country during his tenure at the University of Memphis and helped recruit three NBA players, three McDonald s All Americans and two National Junior College Players of the Year for the Tigers. As an Associate Head Coach at the University of Central Florida, Schuberth helped guide the Golden Knights to an 84 41 record, which was the second most wins by a program in the State of Florida during the previous four seasons.
