4 Q uar ter One Bowling! By: Caleb P. Creative Writing Corner Lydia K. School Buds Bowling is a fun and easy sport to play. OFIS lets kids that attend school here have the opportunity to bowl at Buckeye Lanes! Here are some facts about Buckeye Lanes. It has a snack bar with cheeseburgers, pizza, soft drinks, and more but it s not big. There is a desk where you can get shoes and information. There are games that your allowed to play like Pinball and Pac Man. There are rules when you re at the bowling alley like no food in the bowling area. It s a lot of fun to bowl with friends! The School Buds were born with firm, juicy brains. Their weakness was not having the brain juice, called Brain Waves. They all had a specialty for one subject. Megan and Manny did math, Sid and Samantha did science, Raven and Ron did reading and spelling, and Katy and Amy did social studies. They were great at what they did. The buds did have a few bullies, though. Veronica and Brent hated math, science, reading and social studies. They were always lazy and getting into trouble. The ten kids were all in 1 homeroom, and they were all in 4 th Grade. The buds tried to do the best they could at what they didn t work at, but all they would get was B s and C s. They were good sports, anyway. The Buds were a team. They were the school brainiacs. They were always very smart. The kids only watched a little TV, so all those firm, juicy brains wouldn t turn to mush. Unfortunately, bad things would happen. What do you think will happen? She writes, that s how. Do you want to see the ending to My Name Is? It is available on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com. It is also available from Kayla and her illustrator, Lori Falcone! (Also her mom.) Just send an E-mail to: lori@falcone.com Kayla Falcone woke up one day and decided to write a poem. This is what she wrote: My name is Suzy Buttercup, I like to drink from my sippy cup, My brother is always right side up, My name is Suzy Buttercup. This is only a small portion of what she wrote that morning. She wrote four paragraphs. When her mother woke up, she told Kayla to add on. Kayla wrote all morning and in the end, she had 20 pages including pictures. Then, with all of the dedications, copyrights, and other pages; Kayla had enough pages to make a published book!!!!!!
