Barclay averages 25 rushing yards more than anyone else in the ACC. Did You Know? Barclay is only the 3rd player in ACC history (the first in 20 years) and one of 32 players to ever rush for 4,000 yards and 40 TDs. Both ACC players were named All-American and overall, 30 of the other 31 were selected as All- Americans. He is only the 6th player in ACC history to rush for 1,000 yards in three straight seasons, accomplished most recently by Warrick Dunn. Barclay faced six rushing defenses ranked in the top 35 nationally this year and rushed for 100 yards against five of them and 91 against another. Barclay has been durable, leading the ACC in attempts two straight years. Barclay had 930 career touches and lost only six fumbles. He scored a touchdown against every ACC team in his career. Wake Forest was the only Division I school to offer Barclay as a running back. Although he ran for more yards and more touchdowns in other games, Barclay s most impressive day came at Florida State, against the nation s sixth-best rushing defense. Barclay rushed 21 times for 125 yards and a touchdown. In The Record Book: At Wake Forest: All-time rushing leader (4,032 yards) All-time scoring leader (240 points) All-time rushing touchdowns leader (40) All-time total touchdowns leader (40) All-time all-purpose yards leader (4,930) All-time 200 rushing yard games leader (3) All-time 1,000 yard seasons leader (3) In The ACC: Tied for 2nd in career 200 rushing yard games (3) Tied for 2nd in consecutive 1,000 yard seasons (3) 5th in career rushing yards (4,032) 7th in career rushing touchdowns (40) Barclay has 290 more rushing yards than anyone in the ACC. He should soon become the first player to ever lead the ACC in rushing during the regular season for three straight years. They Said It: The artist Pablo Picasso once lamented, If only we could pull out our brain and use only our eyes. Barclay has come as close to doing that as anyone ever has at Wake Forest. What Barclay sees is what Barclay gets. -- Dan Collins, Winston-Salem Journal Every game we watch this young man, he shows us a new move. You name it, he s got it. He does it with style. -- Rick Doc Walker, Jefferson Pilot Pound-for-pound, Barclay is as tough as anyone playing college football. -- Bruce Feldman, ESPN.com He is Warrick Dunn. He wears the number and he plays just like him. -- NC State coach Chuck Amato He s a slasher, and surprisingly it's amazing how many tackles he breaks at his size. He'll get in the pile and you think you've got him, and then all of a sudden he comes out. That'll remind you of Dunn. -- Florida State coach Bobby Bowden WakeForestSports.com

Ryan Plackemeier Wake Forest Sr. P Ray Guy Award Candidate College Football s Best Punter... Ever? With a 45.26 career average, Ryan Plackemeier will graduate as the NCAA s all-time leading punter with at least 200 career attempts -- better than Ray Guy (44.67) and better than Shane Lechler (44.69), both former NFL draft picks. In the NCAA Stats (as of 11/20) #1 - Punting Average (47.2) #1 - Net Punting (41.4) Plackemeier s Awards & Honors Plackemeier is one of 10 semifinalists for the Ray Guy Award. He is a two-time All-ACC first team selection. NCAA s Career Punting Leaders (min. 200 att.) Rank Years Att. Yds. Avg. He could go in the first three rounds of the 2006 draft. -- Dave Te-Thomas, NFL Scouting Report Statistically, Speaking: Plackemeier averages almost two and a half yards per punt more than anyone else in the Atlantic Coast Conference. He owns three of the four longest punts in the ACC this year (71, 74 and 82 yards). Plackemeier leads the nation in net punting (41.4). He leads the nation in average yards per punt (47.2). They Said It: If this kid does not earn All-America honors, Ray Charles must be doing the picking. -- Dave Te-Thomas, NFL Scouting Report Even at today s prices, a Plackemeier punt can be worth the admission to a Wake Forest game. Plackemeier has turned a usually mundane moment into an event. -- Dan Collins, Winston-Salem Journal You might want to stay inside and away from the windows. He can flat hit it. He s definitely a weapon. -- Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe You have to watch out when you re walking out for practice. He can take you out with one kick. -- Wake Forest running back Chris Barclay Did You Know? Plackemeier broke a 52-year old single game ACC record by averaging 56.4 yards per punt (five punts for 282 yards) against Georgia Tech. Two of his five punts went for 60+ yards. Plackemeier recorded punts of 55, 45, 55, 64 and 63 yards and recorded a net of 48.4 against the Yellow Jackets. He shattered his own Wake Forest single season record he set in 2003 (45.6). This year, Plackemeier averaged 47.2 to set a new Wake Forest record. Plackemeier was named ACC Specialist of the Week after the NC State game in which he drilled fourth quarter punts of 71 and 82 yards in a 27-19 win. Plackemeier in 2005 DATE OPP NO.
