Last Time Out San Francisco used a furious fourth-quarter comeback to snap the LMU's women's basketball four-game win streak, 79-72, Saturday afternoon at Gersten Pavilion. With LMU leading San Francisco 57-51 at the end of the third, the Dons outscored the Lions 28-15 in the fourth, using 13 points from the free throw line to overcome a 10-point deficit. LMU went up 61-51 to start the final frame before the Dons reeled off a 12-2 run to tie it up midway through the fourth. The Lions reclaimed the lead twice before San Francisco's Rachel Howard nailed a go-ahead 3-pointer with 34.6 seconds left, and the Dons iced the game from the free throw line. Jackie Johnson led the Lions with 21 points, marking her fourth straight game scoring at least 20 points, and added seven rebounds and five assists. Andee Velasco contributed 15 points and six assists. Raychel Stanley notched a career-high 11 points on an efficent 5-of-6 shooting clip. Defending The Honor For the second week in-a-row, Jackie Johnson was named the WCC Player of the Week after averaging 22.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, whlie shooting.679 percent from the floor to go with 11 blocks. Johnson becomes the first player in program history to earn back-to-back WCC Player of the Week nods in a season, and joins Kate Murray '04 as the only players in program history to earn the honors thrice in a season, as Murray previously accomplished the feat during the 2003-04 season. Johnson is the first player in the WCC this season to earn back-to-back Player of the Week honors. Double Trouble Jackie Johnson nears averaging a double-double with 17.6 points and 9.8 rebounds per contest. Johnson has posted 10 double-doubles on the season. Leading Legends Leslie Lopez-Wood ranks 17th among active Division I 3-point scoring leaders with 253 career makes. Climbing The Ladder Leslie Lopez-Wood ranks ninth all-time with 1261 career points. The senior needs 107 points to surpass Hazel Ramirez '14 to move into sole possession of sixth place all-time. Swat Team Jackie Johnson swatted seven blocks against San Diego on Feb. 2, setting a new career-high and set the highest single-game total in the WCC this season. In conference play, Johnson has upped her average with 3.5 blocks per game and has 69 total. Sharing The Rock LMU leads the WCC in assists (369) and assists per game (16.0). Hanks House LMU is 7-6 at Gersten Pavilion this season. With one more win, LMU will secure its first winning record at home since the 2012-13 season. I'll Take That LMU has scored at least 20 points off of turnovers five times this season and have accomplished the feat twice in the past six games. The Lions notched season-highs against UC Santa Barbara and Long Beach State with 25 points off turnovers in each contest. Light It Up Cheyanne Wallace's 21 points at Santa Clara on Jan. 7 marked her eighth 20-plus point game of her career, whlie Johnson's 21 points against San Francisco on Feb. 4 was her seven 20-plus game of the season. Triple Threat LMU is 5-4 when Leslie Lopez-Wood, Jackie Johnson and Cheyanne Wallace all score in double figures. At least one member of the trio has notched double-digit scoring in every game. From Downtown Leslie Lopez-Wood broke the all-time 3-point career record a season ago and holds 253 to her name. The senior has lead the Lions in triples in each of her three seasons, and also set the single season mark with 82 makes from beyond-the-arc a season ago. MEDIA SERVICES Assoc.
