Thursday, September 14, 2017 Last night your 8th grade Seahawks football team took on the Nelson Nighthawks. The B team came out and played with a great defensive effort keeping Nelson out of the end zone the entire game. The defense was led by Greg Cade who had several tackles and a pick 6. The offense was led by Jacob Choi who had several key catches and a touchdown reception. Your Seahawks won the game 13-0 and are now 2-0 on the season. "B" team players of the game were Luke Parsons, Greg Cade, and Jacob Choi. The A team came out and played with a chip on their shoulder after losing last week. Jaziah Rockwell got things going with a 45-yard touchdown reception from BJ Higgins. In the second half, Kam Napolean kept up the great effort moving the ball up the field. Jack Forner got into the end zone to put the Seahawks up 14-0. Jamichael Lias got into the end zone as the time expired to give Scoggins a 20-6 victory. Players of the game were Luke Logan, Kam Napolean, Jack Fortner, and BJ Higgins. Come out next week September 19th as your Seahawks take on the Trent Timberwolves at Wakeland High School. Wednesday, September 13, 2017 Last night your 7 th Grade Boy s Seahawks took on the Nelson Nighthawks at Independence High School. Action began with the B Team. Your Seahawks got off to a great start jumping ahead of the Nighthawks with a 6 point lead at the half. They went on to get their first victory of the year with a final score of 20-6. Players of the game for the B Team were Owen Thompson, Matteo Quattrin, Zach Hunt, Brady Bergstrom, Shreyan Malavde, and Graham King. The A team competed well for most of the night. However, they were not able to get the victory over the Nighthawks in the end. Players of the game for the A Team were: Keith Rockwell, Luke Wagstaff, Marlon Hurst, Gabe Warren, and TK Kailey. Also, you will be able to create your own college pennant design to display in the cafeteria. Several winners will be chosen for prizes. The theme for tomorrow is your future is so bright, you need shades, so wear your favorite pair of sunglasses! Our college spotlight of the day is Southeastern Oklahoma State University, which is located in Durant, Oklahoma and is home of the Savage Storm and school mascot, Bolt. Founded in 1909, Southeastern Oklahoma State was attended by our very own Ms. Eledge, Mr. Reynolds, and Ms. Rodriguez. Other famous alumni include Dennis Rodman, former hall of fame NBA player, Reba McEntire, country music star, and several notable Native American chiefs and governors. Southeastern Oklahoma State is a public university that offers programs that serve students throughout Oklahoma and North Texas. The University, which offers 38 bachelor's degree programs and 14 master's degree programs, is nationally known for such fields of study as Aviation, Business, Education and Occupational Safety & Health. Our college spotlight of the day is the University of Texas at Arlington, which is just right down the road from us in Arlington, Texas. Founded in 1895, UTA is the home of the Mavericks and the school mascot, Blaze the horse. Our very own Coach Carpenter, Ms. Steele, Ms. Mayden, and Ms. Hull attended UTA, and Mr. Richard Scoggins, for whom our school is named and dedicated, is also a UTA alum. C team came out on top winning in 3 games. player of the game was Isabella Copeland. B team also won their match in 3 games. player of the game was Emma Korenek. A team fought a hard game but lost in the end. Player of the game was Cassie Lutz. Our Scoggins girls played their first Volleyball game of the season last night against Pioneer. The A team lost a decisive 3rd game 25 to 23, but they played extremely hard. Player of the game was Trinity Huynh. Our B team also lost in a 3rd game as well and player of the game was the entire B team. Our C team lost in two games and player of the game was Takiah Richardson. weekend at Reedy High School as we play in Invitational Tournament. Reminder Practice ends at 4:30. Our 6th graders just kicked off our school-wide Mom and Popcorn Fundraiser on Tuesday, September 5. Fifty percent of our sales will go directly back to the school into our activity account for our student programs and resources. 7th and 8th graders are also welcome to join in and sell if they would like! Students may pick up a fundraising packet at the front office. Popcorn sales are due on Tuesday, September 19, to your student s 1st period teacher.
