There are 5 FBS teams who are unbeaten including Alabama (8-0); Clemson (7-0); Notre Dame (7-0); UCF (7-0); and South Florida (6-0). A E FACES of the FCS Two former FCS players rank in the Top 5 in the NFL for total tackles, including the Colt s Darius Leonard (South Carolina State) and Arizona s FS Antoine Bethea (Howard), who has 61 total stops. Leonard leads all players with 79 tackles. u San Diego has the nation s longest active win streak against teams from its own conference. San Diego has won 23-straight PFL games. Colgate (8-straight wins in the Patriot League) ranks second, followed by four teams that have six-game winning streaks in their respective leagues (Dartmouth, Kennesaw State, North Dakota State and Towson). Here are the teams that are unbeaten in their conference this year: UC Davis (4-0 Big Sky); Kennesaw State (2-0 Big South); Monmouth (1-0 Big South); Charleston Southern (1-0 Big South); Towson (4-0 CAA); Dartmouth (3-0 Ivy); Princeton (3-0 Ivy); Florida A&M (4-0 MEAC); North Dakota State (4-0 MVFC); Sacred Heart (2-0 NEC); Murray State (4-0 OVC); Colgate (3-0 Patriot League); Georgetown (3-0 Patriot League); San Diego (PFL). u San Diego also owns the nation s longest active winning streak at home, with 19-straight wins. 19 - San Diego (PFL); 14 - NDSU (MVFC); 13 - Kennesaw State (Big South); 10 - McNeese (Southland); 10 - Grambling (SWAC) u Samford and Youngstown State will open the 2019 college football season at the Guardian Credit Union FCS Kickoff on Saturday, Aug. 24 at the historic Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Ala. The 2019 season will mark the third straight season the FCS Kickoff will be held in Montgomery. u Nearly 160 FCS players are on NFL rosters -- that s the equivalent of three full NFL rosters. Notably, there are 39 inductees in the Pro Football Hall of Fame who represent current FCS institutions, including three inductees this past summer. u FCS teams have recorded seven wins against FBS schools. Last year, FCS schools notched nine wins against FBS schools. Since 1978, FCS schools have recorded double-digit win totals against the FBS six times, most recently in 2016 (10 that year). The FCS set a record in 2013 with 16 wins against FBS schools. There are no FCS vs. FBS matchups scheduled for this week. FCS wins against FBS schools UC Davis 44, San Jose State 38 (Aug. 30) Villanova 19, Temple 17 (Sept. 1) Nicholls 26, Kansas 23 (Sept. 1) Northern Arizona 30, UTEP 10 (Sept. 1) North Carolina A&T 28, E. Carolina 23 (S2) Maine 31, Western Kentucky 28 (Sept. 8) Illinois State 35, Colorado State 19 (S22)

BIG SKY -- The midway point of conference play is here and four weeks are remaining in the regular season. UC Davis holds the top spot in the Big Sky with a 4-0 league record. Three teams in the league are 3-1, while another four teams have a 2-2 record. That gives the Big Sky eight teams with two or less losses. By chance, the top four teams are undefeated at home this season. Weber State took over the top spot in the FCS in turnovers gained with 22 (11 interceptions, 11 fumbles), while Northern Arizona is tied for second with 20 (14 interceptions, 6 fumbles). Montana s Dante Olson continues to lead the FCS and FBS with 15.1 tackles per game. The Big Sky has three teams ranked in the Top 10 for the second consecutive week. Weber State, Eastern Washington and UC Davis filled the 4-5-6 spots in the FCS STATS poll, while the Eagles are ranked fourth, Wildcats fifth and Aggies 13th in the AFCA poll. Another three Big Sky teams are receiving votes: Idaho State, Montana, and Montana State. The Big Sky ROOT SPORTS Game of the Week will be on Oct. 27 when Idaho plays at Eastern Washington for a 12:05 p.m. PT kickoff. The game can be seen live on the DirecTV Audience Network and DISH Studio. The Eleven Sports Game of the Week will feature Montana State at Idaho State. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:35 p.m. MT. BIG SOUTH -- Monmouth senior WR REGGIE WHITE JR. is the Big South s all-time receptions leader with 225, as he became the record holder this past Saturday with five receptions against Campbell. He broke the record of 223 that was held by Gardner-Webb s JAMES PERRY III from 2008-11. Monmouth freshman RB JUWON FARRI rushed for a Big South-season high 239 yards this past Saturday against Campbell -- the seventh-highest single-game output in league history. Farri s total was the fifth-highest by a Big South freshman, and the most rushing yards in a game since Presbyterian s LANCE BRYD gained 274 against Charleston Southern during his freshman year of 2009. Farri has rushed for 422 yards in his last two outings, and now leads the Big South with 674 on the year. Campbell QB DANIEL SMITH is the first signal-caller in Big South history with at least 10 passing touchdowns and 10 rushing scores in the same season, as he has 11 passing strikes and 10 rushing TDs this year. His achieved the feat this past Saturday at Monmouth with a 12-yard run to the end zone. CAA FOOTBALL -- The CAA Football race is one of the most competitive in the nation with the top six teams separated by just one game. Towson sits atop the standings at 4-0, which is the Tigers best start in CAA play since 2011. Stony Brook is a half-game back at 4-1, and there is a four-way tie at 3-1 between defending champion James Madison, Delaware, Elon and Maine. All six teams in the race for the CAA title are ranked in the Top 25 nationally. There are five conference games on Saturday s schedule, including two matchups that feature Top 25 squads going head-tohead. No. 3 James Madison hosts No. 15 Stony Brook in a rematch of last year s second-round FCS playoff game. No. 10 Towson travels to No. 21 Delaware in a contest will be the first between two ranked teams at Delaware Stadium since 2013. Also on the slate for Saturday, William & Mary visits Rhode Island, Villanova entertains New Hampshire and UAlbany heads to Maine. Elon and Richmond have byes this week. Six CAA teams are ranked in the STATS Top 25 poll and five in the AFCA Coaches Top 25 poll, including three in the top 10 for the first time this season. In the STATS Top 25, James Madison was No. 3, followed by No. 8 Elon, No. 10 Towson, No. 15 Stony Brook, No. 21 Delaware and No. 24 Maine. The AFCA Poll includes No. 3 JMU, No. 6 Elon, No. 10 Towson, No. 15 Stony Brook and No. 21 Delaware. Rhode Island was among other teams receiving votes in both polls. The CAA s six ranked teams are two more than any other FCS conference and nine of the CAA s 12 teams have been ranked in the Top 25 at some point this season. IVY LEAGUE -- The Ivy League closed out non-conference play with an 18-6 mark, marking the fourth-straight season with a.500-or-better non-conference record. The League has now posted back-to-back.750 non-conference winning percentages, pacing the FCS in both 2017 and 2018. Harvard has been a model of consistency on offense, especially when it comes to reaching the end zone over the past 19 seasons. The Crimson currently owns a consecutive scoring streak of 195 games. With its Oct. 18, 2014, win over Cornell, Harvard reset the Ivy League s consecutive points-scoring streak. The last time the Crimson failed to scratch the scoreboard was Sept. 19, 1998, in a 24-0 loss at Columbia. The previous record of 162-straight games without being shutout was held by Brown, which had its scoring streak halted on Oct. 13, 2012. Yale is 1-of-3 NCAA Division I programs to surpass 900 wins, joining Michigan and Notre Dame. MEAC -- The MEAC race is tightening up as five full weeks of action remain in the race for the championship. Florida A&M controls its own destiny as the lone undefeated team in the MEAC while North Carolina A&T State, Howard and N.C. Central follow with one loss each. Howard, FAMU and N.C. Central are all in action this weekend while the Aggies have a bye. Based on the past two years, just one loss damages a team s chances at a MEAC Championship as the 2017 and 2016 champions both finished undefeated. In 2015, three teams with one loss shared the title while five teams with two losses in 2014 were crowned co-champions. There are three one-loss teams now with Florida A&M the only undefeated team remaining. Howard s Go-Go Offense has produced the top two receivers in the MEAC as Jequez Ezzard averages 129.8 receiving yards per contest while Kyle Anthony follows with 75.5 yards per outing. South Carolina State quarterback Tyrece Nick has become the team s dual threat as he leads the MEAC with 80.4 rushing yards and eighth in passing (112.4 ypg). North Carolina A&T State s Jalon Bethea ranks second nationally with three blocked kicks. The Aggies rank fifth as a team with five blocked kicks.

MISSOURI VALLEY -- North Dakota State is the only in Missouri Valley Football Conference history to win its first seven games in back-to-back seasons, and the Bison have done it twice. NDSU was 15-0 in 2013 and started 2014 with nine-straight wins. The Bison started 8-0 last year and are now 7-0 this season. Three MVFC teams rank in the Top 18 in the FCS for toughest schedules (based on cumulative opposition and ranked by the NCAA Statistics service). UNI leads the league and is ranked No. 2 overall. A separate metrics service (Massey Ratings) has UNI with the nation s most difficult schedule. All of the league s 10 members are rated in the Top 34 in the Massey Ratings strength of schedule, including each of the topfour positions (UNI, Western Illinois, North Dakota State and South Dakota). UNI jumped eight spots from No. 25 to No. 17 in the STATS FCS rankings after the Panthers defeated previously No. 2 ranked South Dakota State. North Dakota State continues to have its unanimous stranglehold in both polls while South Dakota State and Illinois State are also ranked. Among conferences, the MVFC is the top-rated league in the FCS (Sagarin Rankings), and also ranks ahead of a number of FBS leagues, including Conference USA (both the East and West divisions), and the Sun Belt (West Division). NORTHEAST -- Despite a Week 8 bye, Wagner RB Ryan Fulse remains the top rusher in the FCS (1,030 yards). Duquesne s AJ Hines, the 2016 Jerry Rice Award winner, has exceeded 215 yards from scrimmage during each of the past two weeks and has totaled six touchdowns over three NEC contests. Bryant s Tomas Wright tops the FCS leader board with 9.5 sacks while Wagner s Cam Gill sits tied for third with 8.0 quarterback takedowns. Wright made 2.0 sacks during Bryant s 42-41 road win over Patriot League member Fordham. Sacred Heart, the lone remaining NEC unbeaten, posted a road win over defending conference champion Central Connecticut last week thanks to a NEC single-game season-high 413 yards of total offense from QB Kevin Duke. After missing three games due to injury, SHU senior WR Andrew O Neill returned to make 10 catches for 170 yards and two touchdowns. Sacred Heart will host Bryant in the featured #NECFB Game of the Week on ESPN3 at 1:00 pm ET Saturday. OHIO VALLEY -- Murray State now holds sole possession of first place in the OVC with a 4-0 Conference record. It marks the first time the Racers have been 4-0 since the 1996 season when the team was 8-0 and won the OVC Championship. The OVC currently ranks first nationally among all FCS conferences in total offense per team (411.48 yards/game) and scoring average (30.98 points/game). Southeast Missouri ended a 10-game losing streak to Jacksonville State, topping the nationally-ranked Gamecocks 37-14 to end JSU s 36-game OVC winning streak (which dated back to 2013). The win was the fourth for SEMO head coach Tom Matukewicz against nationally-ranked opponents (most by a coach in SEMO history). The Redhawks sit just outside the Top 25 this week. Offense: QB Micheal Hughes, Tennessee State Defense: LB Justin Swift, Southeast Missouri Specialist: P Jake Reynolds, Southeast Missouri Co-Newcomer: DB Bryce Dewberry, Eastern Illinois Co-Newcomer: QB Drew Anderson, Murray State PATRIOT -- Colgate broke the Patriot League single-season shutout record, registering its third of the season with a 31-0 victory over Cornell on Oct. 13. The Raiders defense has not allowed a touchdown by an opposing offense in 20-consecutive quarters dating back to the fourth quarter of their season-opening 24-17 win against Holy Cross on Sept. 1. Colgate also shutout two-consecutive opponents, beating William & Mary 23-0 on Sept. 29 and Lafayette 45-0 on Sept. 22. It was the first time they had held opponents scoreless in back-to-back weeks since 1966. Dan Hunt s Raiders have NCAA DI FCS s top scoring defense, allowing just 3.8 points per game through six games and have begun the season 6-0 for the first time since 2009. Bucknell sophomore linebacker Simeon Page is second among active FCS players with 0.84 sacks per game. Page has recorded 13.5 sacks in 16 career games. He is also the FCS active leader with 1.38 tackles for loss per game. Colgate junior defensive lineman Nick Wheeler recorded a League season-high 3.0 sacks in the Raiders win over then No. 20/22 New Hampshire on Sept. 8. Wheeler s 0.81 sacks per game is third among active FCS players. He has 19.5 career sacks in 24 games. The Hoyas are off to their first 3-0 start in League play since joining the Patriot League in 2001 with help from a defense that has intercepted an FCS-leading 15 passes through eight games. Nine different GU players have picked off a pass this season, with senior safety Jethro Francois second in the League with three. Leon Agee, Wesley Bowers, Blaise Brown, and Owen Kessler have all taken away two passes apiece. PFL -- Four teams are in the hunt for the PFL regular season title but only league-leading San Diego will play at home with the second-place trio of Drake, Marist and Stetson each on the road during Week 9 The PFL s No. 2 and No. 3 rushers DAVIDSON s Wesley Dugger (907 yards) and William Wicks (676 yards) will host a STETSON team that features the league s No. 3 passing offense thanks to Colin McGovern, who ranks second in passing efficiency (162.1) this season. VALPARAISO return specialist Bailey Gessinger has a kick return touchdown in each of his last two games, giving the Crusaders the PFL s No. 1 ranked kickoff return unit (24.7 ypr) but DRAKE is accustomed to keeping the kickoff game in check, boasting the league s No. 1 ranked kickoff coverage unit (41.9 net ypr). San Diego s Anthony Lawrence will have an opportunity to move into No. 2 on the PFL career passing list, entering Week 9 needing just 281 yards to pass Jacksonville s Josh McGregor (11,230 yards). The PFL career mark also sits within reach, Lawrence needing 969 yards to break the record set by Morehead State s Austin Gahafer. Lawrence was the second San Diego quarterback to reach the 10,000-yard milestone, joining Mason Mills (10,204 yards, 2010-13). Entering Week 9, he has 10,950 career passing yards second among FCS active career leaders.

SOUTHERN -- Wofford returned to the top of the SoCon standings with its 30-17 win over ETSU on Saturday, handing the Bucs their first league loss and snapping their five-game winning streak to force a tie at 4-1 in league play. The Terriers once again control their own destiny in their bid to repeat as SoCon champions and claim the league s automatic bid to the FCS playoffs. Lennox McAfee ran for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Wofford moved up from No. 12 to No. 7 in the AFCA FCS Coaches Top 25 and No. 9 in the STATS FCS Top 25, while ETSU dropped four spots to No. 25 in both. Chattanooga is receiving votes in both polls, while Mercer and Samford received votes in the STATS poll. Samford quarterback Devlin Hodges had yet another record day for the Bulldogs on Saturday in a 38-25 win at Furman, setting the SoCon s career passing yardage record (13,377) and the FCS completions record (1,198). The two-time SoCon Player of the Year completed 40 passes for 402 yards and two touchdowns and was named the STATS FCS National Offensive Player of the Week. Hodges has thrown for 1,437 yards over his last three contests, a SoCon record for games in three consecutive games. Furman kicker Grayson Atkins also earned STATS FCS honors, as he was named the national special teams player of the week after matching an NCAA Division I record with three field goals of 50 yards or more. SOUTHLAND -- Four league representatives were featured in this week s top 25. Central Arkansas sits 14th and 13th in respective rankings, while McNeese comes in at 16th and 14th in the major polls. Nicholls climbed to the 19th and 20th spots in this week s top 25, and Sam Houston fell to 22nd and 23rd. Incarnate Word is on the cusp of the top 25, receiving votes in both polls. Week nine s slate pits four of the league s five teams that are either ranked or receiving votes. Incarnate Word travels to Thibodeaux, La., to take on #19/20 Nicholls, and Central Arkansas puts its three-game win streak on the line at McNeese, who has won 10 straight at home since 2016. Lamar Playing League Spoiler After starting conference play 0-3, Lamar rebounded by handing Incarnate Word its first league defeat on Oct. 13 before knocking off then-#14 Sam Houston State on Oct. 20. The two upsets have resonated in the wide-open league standings. With a 45-17 triumph over then-no. 6 McNeese State, Incarnate Word earned the program s first win over a ranked opponent. Under first-year head coach Eric Morris, the Cardinals are in a three-way atop the league standings and earning votes in both major polls. Through the games of Oct. 20, four of the top 15 passing yard totals belong to Southland Conference teams, led by 2,405 from Southeastern Louisiana s Chason Virgil. Right on his tail is Abilene Christian s Luke Anthony with 2,294 yards. Incarnate Word s Jon Copeland (2,080) and Houston Baptist s Bailey Zappe (1,846) rank eighth and 14th in the nation, respectively. SWAC -- Alcorn State linebacker Terry Whittington was one of four players to earn STATS FCS National Players of the Week recognition last week. Whittington lived in the Grambling State backfield, racking up 15 tackles, six tackles for loss and 4½ sacks all career highs. His tackles behind the line of scrimmage totaled 48 yards in losses, and he finished a half sack shy of the Braves school record. He also forced a fumble. Prairie View A&M football will open its home schedule after opening the season six straight games on the road, traveling nearly 5,500 miles roundtrip into two different time zones (Eastern and Pacific) and three states (Georgia, Nevada, Arkansas) in the process. The Dooley era began August 25 with a 31-28 loss at Rice, with the Owls kicking a field goal on the last play of the game, Prairie View A&M won its first game of the season in Atlanta in the MEAC-SWAC Challenge on Sept. 2, defeating North Carolina Central 40-24, before losing at #4 Sam Houston, 41-32. The Panthers concluded their non-conference schedule at UNLV, and opened conference play with a win at Arkansas-Pine Bluff and over Grambling in Dallas. PVAMU will play four of its last five games at home to conclude the regular season. In what has been billed as the largest HBCU Classic in the country, Alabama State and Alabama A&M will meet for the 77th time at the McDonald s Magic City Classic presented by Coca-Cola Saturday afternoon at Birmingham s Legion Field. Game time is set for 2:30 pm (cst) and will be carried on ESPN3, and tape delayed to ESPNU.
