ST. MARY S ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWSNOTE VOLUME 1, ISSUE 1 FEBRUARY 13, 019 FROM THE PRINCIPALS DESK... Happy Wednesday! We are going to be having some exciting fundraising events coming up. HSA is planning a vendor fair and meat raffle. Volunteers for the vendor fair on 3/4/19 and meat raffle on 3/9/19 are needed to make these events a success. If you are able to help out, please email HSA at hsa@smeschool.com. Any help that you can give would be greatly appreciated. This weekend is our February Freeze Basketball tournament. Please try to come out and support our SME teams! I would like to wish everybody a very relaxing week off. Spend time with family and friends and re-charge yourself as we head into the latter part of the year. Take a moment, if you can, and reflect on the following quotation: Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. If each family is able to purchase just $00 in gift cards per month, the SCRIP program would be a HUGE success! Candy Bar Sale Letters went home to any family owing candy bar money on Monday, /11. Payment is due NOW! No prizes will be awarded until all accounts are closed. The special events for our children and support to our school cannot happen with out you! PARISH PASSAGES Any child(ren) interested in participating in the Parish Youth Choir during this Sunday s 10:00 Mass are asked to arrive to the choir loft in Church at 9:15am for practice. BISON FUND Assistance is needed during our annual Clam Chowder Dinner on Ash Wednesday, March 6th. Adults are needed for: Set Up - 1 - pm Kitchen Work - 3-7pm Ticket Sales (or HS Students) - 3:45-7pm Adults & Students grade 5 and above : Servers between 3:45-5:30pm OR 5:30-7:15pm Clean Up - 6:30-8:30pm Sign up sheets are available in the school office or you may email Amanda Kuhn at secretary@smeschool.com to be added to the list. Happy New Year! As we welcome 019, the Bison Fund is accepting K-8 Pre- Applications for funding for the 019-00 school year. Families should apply online through our website at http://bisonfund.com/our-scholarships. The Pre- Application is only for families new to BISON. Our Pre-Application deadline is February 8, 019. We will hold a lottery drawing on March 1, 019 to award the scholarship. Families selected will be notified by e-mail to complete the full application. Wait listed families will also be notified by e-mail. The Board of Directors has voted to let families receiving a 15% scholarship to renew it but we will not be adding any new awards to that income bracket. Current families will be e-mailed a link to complete the requalification process on February 19, 019. The families will log into the scholarship database to complete the requalification forms and upload their financial information. As a reminder the deadline for all returning families is April 15, 019. On Thursday, March 14th, your ticket to the show will also include a spaghetti dinner. Practice will take place on March 5th & 7th - you only need to attend one! Dress rehearsal (mandatory) will take place on Tuesday March 1th. NURSE NEWS The American Heart Association has been working hard for nearly 100 years to help fight heart disease and stroke to help save and improve lives. They define seven ways (Life s Simple 7) for people to improve upon in their own lives to increase their cardiovascular health: stop smoking, eat better, get active, lose weight, manage blood pressure, control cholesterol, and reduce blood sugar. FEBRUARY FREEZE A reminder that team basket donations can be dropped off to the school office any time this week! A 1/ page flyer is coming home with game times we hope to see you here! HSA Craft/Vendor Fair on Sunday, March 4th! Any/All Independent Consultants or Crafters are welcome. The cost is $15 + a basket to raffle if you have your own table or $5 + a basket to raffle if you need a table. MEGA RAFFLE SCRIP Mega Raffle order forms were sent out last week and tickets are available now for purchase. Orders will be filled once per week, so please be patient if you do not see a ticket come home the day you send in your request. We are in need of a group of parents to coordinate our basket donations as well. If you are interested please contact Mary Kate. New this Year: We will have two early bird drawings to celebrate those of you who purchase your tickets right away! See the flyer in your mailing for more information. Are your children s lunch boxes hitting the mid-way break down? Kids change their styles as often as their shoes? Drop off (clean) gently used lunch boxes for our lunchbox exchange!
