Omaha had lost two games in the previous 15 vs the Sky Sox before the two losses. HIT MERRIFIELD: Whit Merrifield s hitting streak is at 16 games, the longest streak in the Pacific Coast League this season and the longest in Triple-A (next highest active streak in Triple-A is Irving Falu with 11 straight for Louisville). Merrifield is one of three MiLB players that has had a 16+ game hitting streak, and has the longest active hitting streak in all of pro baseball. It is the longest hitting streak in Merrifield s career, as the previous high was the hitting streak he had for Omaha last season at 15 games (July 1 through July 17). The streak is the longest for Omaha since Johnny Giavotella had a 21-game hitting streak July 3-26, 2012. During the streak, Whit is batting.364 (24-for-66) with six multi-hit games, which has raised his average from.208 to.322. DUELING STREAKS: Whit Merrifield also has an on-base streak of 19 games (batting.351, 27-for-77 during that stretch), trailing only Colorado Springs Matt Long s streak of 21 games. Long owns the longest home on-base streak in the league at 13 games, while Merrifield is tied for the second longest road on-base streak at 11 games behind Cheslor Cuthbert at 12. GETAWAY WINS: Omaha has won two of their three road series finales this season, and their only roadtrip finale so far. Dating back to the start of last season, Omaha has won 14 of their 21 road series finales and have won nine of their 12 total roadtrip finales in that same span. DOUBLE-DIGITS VS THE SOX: Omaha has collected ten or more hits in 15 of their last 16 games against the Sky Sox dating back to July 11 of last year, and 12 of their last 13 games at Security Service Field dating back to the final two games at the ballpark during the 2013 season. It is the longest such streak for the Storm Chasers since Whit Merrifield hit safely in 19 straight road games July 1 - August 20. Paulo Orlando had the longest road hitting streak in the PCL last season at 35 games that started on Omaha s first road game on April 11, 2014. NOT THE BEST START: Aaron Brooks has two losses this season after having only three losses last season (fewest among PCL pitchers with at least 23 starts in 2014) and had one in his final 18 appearances of 2014.
