The new enrollment forms for the 2011-2012 4-H year are in the office and ALL MEMBERS MUST re-enroll for the new year. Forms can be filled out by visiting the Extension Office or by attending your first 4-H meeting this month. If you turned in an application but did not pay we need the money turned in as soon as possible. This two day event will help increase your knowledge on project selection, daily management, clipping, and Quality Counts. Youth participating in this two day clinic and prospect show will have the opportunity to have their animals in the show ring continuously providing as much hands on learning as possible. Trinity-Neches Livestock Show For the 2012 Trinity-Neches Livestock Show, all entries will be entered on-line by the exhibitor or their parents. Each animal will have an on-line entry deadline prior to tag-in. You will need to go to fairmanager.com to register. You should be able to sign in by the 1st of October. We have the 2012 TNLS information on our Polk County Website. Trinity Neches Livestock Show Tag-In for Lambs, Goats, Steers, and Heifers will be October 11, 2011 at the Barney Wiggins Rodeo Arena from 5pm 7pm. Swine Tag In and Poultry orders Dec 1st. 2011-2012 Show year is underway and a newchange has been made. All exhibitors that show in the Major Shows are required to complete the Quality Counts program. All FFA and 4-H members can log onto http://qualitycounts.tamu.edu/verification/ click on Take Test and complete the program. Ag teachers and County Agents will need your verification number when submitting your entries for Major shows. Quality Counts is designed to teach young people the importance of displaying good character in carrying out livestock projects, and in every aspect of their lives. Quality Counts helps them learn the importance of using proper livestock management practices so that food quality and safety are preserved. I encourage you all to take the test. Lamb & Goat Tag-In for the Major Shows will be on October 27th here at the Extension Office- Right after the Lamb Meeting. Calf Scramble??? If you are interested in participating in the Ft. Worth or Houston Livestock Show Calf Scramble please call the office and let us know ASAP! Livestock Judging? P A G E 3 YES Camp ( Jr. Leadership Camp) For 4-H Juniors and Intermediates (4-H members under 13) November 11-12 Lakeview Methodist Conference Center Palestine, Texas $50 due by October 17 To the County Extension Office COME & GO MAD WITH US!!!!!! Come join us on October 8th in front of Baskin s Department Store from 10am- 1pm. We will be selling Lemonade in an old lemonade stand! We will be collecting supplies for Polk County SPCA and have a list of things needed here at the Extension Office. So call and we will let you know what to bring. Also we will be looking to collect lemons for that day! A Special THANKS to Katelyn Pulley, Alyssa Gilbert, Taylor Johnson, Kenneth Pulley, Dalton Vandiver, and Julia Pulley for helping take the 21 cases of water, 20 8-pack bottles of Gatorade, 66 tubes of chap stick, and 37 boxes of crackers to Texas Forest Service. Operation Supply Drop Donations were collect through various groups with Livingston 4-H collecting 19 items, and Big Sandy 4-H collecting 12 items! Livingston 4-H will be having an Ice cream party to congratulate them for collecting the most.
