Joe Kelly, recalled prior to last night s game, made his fi rst major league start since 6/23 and took the loss, allowing 4 runs in 5.2 IP on a career-high 3 homers... Robbie Ross Jr. (0.2 IP), Alexi Ogando (1.0 IP), and Tommy Layne (1.0 IP) combined for scoreless relief. SOX AS OF LATE: Boston has lost 7 straight, including the last game prior to the All-Star break and the fi rst 6 games coming out of the break...it matches the club s season-long losing streak, also from June 9-15. In the last 7 contests, the club has scored a total of 15 runs, including 3 games with 1 or no runs...they have scored 9 total runs in 6 games since the All-Star break...boston has hit.210 (49-for-233) during the 7-game slide, including.200 (10-for-50) with RISP. Sox hurlers have surrendered 13 home runs in 6 games since the break, accounting for 18 of the club s 34 runs allowed in that span. Despite losing 7 in a row, the club is 15-15 (.500) since ending a season-long 7-game losing streak on 6/16... With last night s loss and a win by the Yankees, the Red Sox are now a season-high 11.0 games back in the AL East. WHAT S SLATED: Boston is 17-27 (.386) in divisional games this season...just 6 of the Sox fi rst 41 games immediately following the break (through 8/30) are against the AL East (7/31-8/2 vs. TB, 8/4-6 at NYY)...After that point, the club plays division rivals in 26 of its 32 remaining games. Today is the 7th in a stretch of 17 days without a scheduled off-day immediately following the All-Star break (ends with off-day on August 3). TIGERS IN TOWN: Tomorrow night, Boston opens a 10- game homestand with the fi rst of 3 contests against Detroit...All 6 games between these teams will be played in a span of 2 weeks, concluding with 3 contests at Comerica Park from August 7-9. Overall this year, the Sox are 20-30 (.408) away from Fenway, placing 13th among the 15 AL teams. That trip began with 3 losses at the Washington Senators and concluded with 5 losses at Yankee Stadium.
