Road to the Finals: The G-Braves won 11 of their final 20 games, including a winner-take-all season finale at Charlotte (6-2 on 9/5), to claim the first International League South Division championship in Gwinnett history. Despite posting the lowest winning percentage of a full-season division winner in MiLB history (.455), Gwinnett defeated 10-time Governors Cup champion Columbus 3-1 in the best-of-five Semifinals. Vs. Scranton/WB: Gwinnett went 1-6 in seven games vs. the RailRiders during the 2016 regular season, going 0-4 at This Series (0-0) DATE TIME G1, 9/13 at SWB 6:35 PM G2, 9/14 at SWB 6:35 PM G3, 9/15 vs. SWB 7:05 PM G4, 9/16 vs. SWB* 7:05 PM G5, 9/17 vs. SWB* 7:05 PM *if necessary home and 1-2 on the road. Since 2009, the G-Braves are 23-38 (.377) in 61 regular-season games vs. Scranton/WB, as well as 1-3 in the postseason (lost IL Semifinals to SWB Yankees in 2009). G-Braves Clip Columbus in Game 4: The G-Braves defeated the Columbus Clippers 5-4 on Saturday night at Coolray Field, capturing the club s first playoff series victory since moving to Gwinnett (won series 3-1). C Blake Lalli (2-for-3, 2 RBI) snapped a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the eighth, lifting a sac fly to left off RHP Jeff Johnson (L, 1-1) to score RF Mel Rojas Jr. (1-for-4, R, RBI), who had led off the inning with a walk and moved to third on a single by LF Ronnier Mustelier (3-for-5, R) and an error by Clippers RF Collin Cowgill. Gwinnett trailed 3-0 after two innings, but RBI hits from Lalli, 2B Sean Kazmar Jr. (4-for-4, HR, R, 2 RBI) and Rojas Jr. off Columbus RHP Toru Murata made it a 3-3 game through four frames. Kazmar Jr. blasted a solo home run to left-center off Murata in the fifth to give the G-Braves a 4-3 lead. After 5.0 IP from RHP Tyrell Jenkins (6 H, 3 R, 2 ER), RHP Stephen Janas (BS, 1) yielded the tying run in the top of the eighth. RHP Madison Younginer (W, 2-0) then worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth, and RHP Bradley Roney (S, 1) tossed a perfect ninth. Lalli Gets the Call: A day after he tallied the GWRBI in Game 4 of the Semifinals, Blake Lalli had his contract selected by the Atlanta Braves on 9/11. Lalli batted a team-best.533 (8-for-15, 0 XBH, 2 R, 2 RBI) in four games vs. Columbus, extending a season-best nine-game hitting streak into the playoffs (.424, 14-for-33, 2 2B, 2 R, 6 RBI from 8/31-9/10). He led the IL in batting after the Triple-A All-Star Break, hitting.350 (48-for-137, 14 2B, 13 R, 19 RBI, SB) in 41 games from 7/14-9/5. Kaz in the Clutch: Sean Kazmar Jr. matched the G-Braves playoff record for hits in a single game with four on Saturday night (4-for-4, HR, R, 2 RBI), equaling the mark set by Mel Rojas Jr. a night prior in Game 3 vs. Columbus (4-for-5, 2B, 3B, 3 R, 2 RBI). It was the first four-hit effort for Kazmar Jr. since 9/1/10 with Triple-A Portland at Reno (4-for-6, 2 RBI) he did not have a four-hit performance in 361 regular-season games with Gwinnett over the last four years (2013-current). Power Up: After hitting 79 home runs in 143 games during the regular season (13 th in IL), Gwinnett leads the four-team IL playoff field with six homers in four games. Reid Brignac (2) and Sean Kazmar Jr. (2) are tied for the IL lead in playoff clouts, while Daniel Castro (1) and Tyler Moore (1) have also gone deep. On Friday night vs. Columbus, Moore blasted the G-Braves first grand slam (off LHP Shawn Morimando) since 8/20/14 vs. Charlotte (Donnie Murphy, off LHP Jarrett Casey). Boni is Bueno: Including the playoffs, Emilio Bonifacio has notched 20 multi-hit efforts over his last 35 games dating back to 8/4, batting.388 (54-for-139, 4 2B, 4 3B, 24 R, 14 RBI, 12 SB) in that span. Bonifacio ranked eighth in the IL in batting during the regular season (.298), and was also among IL leaders in stolen bases (1 st, 37 SB, 37-for-46, 80.4%) and triples (T-10 th, 5). He is the third G-Brave to lead the IL in steals (Matt Young, 39 SB in 2010, Luis Durango, 46 SB in 2012). Musty Keeps Reaching: Ronnier Mustelier has reached base safely in all four playoff games (.438, 7-for-16, 3 R, 2 RBI) after finishing the regular season on a 14-game on-base streak. He batted.302 (16-for-53, 5 2B, 2 HR, 9 R, 8 RBI) on the 14-game streak from 8/21-9/5, including a nine-game hitting streak from 8/21-8/31 (.378, 14-for-37, 4 2B, 2 HR, 7 R, 8 RBI).
