Teen Basketball Rules Team Composition Rules 1. This is a teen basketball tournament hence the team will be comprised of members 13-16 years of age. 2. Teams will be comprised of three members and the teams can be either all boys, or all girls, or a mix of boys and girls. 3. If a club has less than three teens (total at the camporee, not just those that want to play) they can add the necessary junior members to play with them. 4. Teams must be comprised of members from a single club, unless the club has less than three pathfinders attending the camporee. 5. You cannot replace team members once the tournament starts unless the replacement is due to injury. Please no faked injuries, remember pure, kind and TRUE. Game Rules 1. All games will be played in the half court, there will be two half court games running simultaneously. 2. Games will be scored by 1â s with all baskets counting as 1 point. There will be no extra points for long shots. 3. Determining who gets the ball first will be accomplished by a coin toss. 4. Games will be played by alternating possession, if a team scores, the other team gets possession of the ball. 5. Once a team establishes possession, if the ball goes over to the other team by steal or rebound, the team now possessing the ball has to take it back behind the imaginary foul shot extended line running side to side 18 10 parallel from the base line. There will be no possession established by taking the ball to the base line/side line corners or behind the three point line unless that is also behind the extended foul line. 6. If a team does not establishes possession by taking the ball back, any baskets they score will not count, and if they score they will lose possession. 7. There will be no foul shots, but if a team is assessed two defensive fouls since the other team has scored, the team fouled will receive a point. No hack-a-shaq. 8. A game ends after one team has scored 10 points or after 10 minutes, whichever comes first. If that game should be tied after 10 minutes, the teams will alternate foul shots in a matching format to establish who wins. If that goes more than 90 seconds a coin will be tossed to determine the outcome. A new game has to start every twelve minutes to get all 31 games played in 3 hours. 9. If a team is late to the start of their game, the other team will be given one point for every minute their opponent is late, and the game will be reduced by the number of minutes the team is late. 10. If possible we will play a double elimination tournament, unless we have sufficient teams that would preclude the double elimination format. 11. The championship games will be played until the first team scores 15 points, no time limit will be in play, and teams only need to win by 1.
