We now can sit back and wait for fall to arrive in all it's splendor. Pat Arnett and Ellen Wager, our vicepresidents, will soon be busy with lesson classes. Class will begin September 7th with our Fun Night, and the 14th will be our second Fun Night. We will still have two great callers, Nathaniel Arnett and Jack Pladdys, who will be replacing Tom Rinehart. Janet Ward is back in the kitchen and she needs your help so please say yes when asked to work during our dances. Patty and Tim Dunn, our raid chairs have lots of raids planned. Lately Patty has had us raiding "new" clubs in far off places like Cincinnati, Columbus, and Gahanna. Yes, it is not our familiar haunts, but that is what makes it interesting and fun. As always, Ken and Myrna Allen had secured for us the best callers for our club dances. Let us not forget our Kittyhawk volunteers for being there when needed - could not have done it without them. We have a Game Night scheduled on Saturday, September 18th at Good Shepherd from 7 to 10 pm. Bring your favorite games and snacks to share. I would also like to thank all the Kittyhawks that were to help at our workshop. We would like to recognize Bruce Dunworth for attending all the workshops even after suffering through a certain caller that left us more confused then when we first started. Hope to see many of you at our Tuesday lesson class. We need our Angels and our 2010 graduates can come even if they do not want to be Angels. See you in a square. From the Vice- Presidents Yes, the long hot summer is almost over. So get out those sweatshirts and long pants again! Lessons will be free again this year. September 7th and 14th are the FUN NIGHTS! Regular classes start the 21st from 7:00 to 9:00. Nathaniel Arnett and Jack Pladdys will be the instructors. If everyone would please bring someone to a fun night we will have a great class! And, as always we need our Angels, so hope to see you there. We would like to thank Tom Rinehart for teaching our lesson classes these past several years. We valued his patience, knowledge, and humor that he brought to our class. A big thanks to our past vice presidents Tom & Karen Settle and Leitha Webber. Their time and efforts were greatly appreciated. Hope to see you all at our 1st FUN NIGHT, with your friends! Ellen Wager, & Pat Arnett Vice Presidents From the Chairmen Happy Fall, it is time for all the Fall Time Special Dances just around the corner! What an exciting time we will be having!!! Hope you put the dances on your calendar so you won't miss out! Since Fall has arrived, most of the dances will be going back to the classic style of square dance attire. That is, if you want to, not have to. If a dance is a special one, such as a Western theme or Halloween theme, you could wear something accordingly. The Whirlaways dance is casual; the 50's dances could be poodle skirts or jeans and T shirts like the Fonz; the Festival of Leaves in Fall colors. For most of the regular raids and retrievals, we will be wearing our club colors of red, white and blue, however, this is a suggestion and not necessary. The most important thing is to come and have fun!!! Just a few comments on some of the dances coming up: The Whirlaways is an advanced club, however, once a year they invite all the clubs to join them in a plus dance. Yellow Rockers 50's dance will be having a guest appearance by "ELVIS". Some of the Kitty Hawks had such a great time at Skirts & Shirts and heard about the Chuck Wagon Dance that they wanted to go back for it. Hope a lot of you join them, we went last year and had a great time!!! Will food tempt you? Barbeque, potato salad, cole slaw, homemade pies and ECT. They are celebrating Roy Rogers. High Point's Tailgate party is a time to wear your favorite sport's color and join in the party. Clinton County's Halloween will also furnish a light meal as well. There will be a costume contest for those interested...there is usually someone disguised so much that you can't tell just who they are so come and see if you know WHO they are!!! Several of the clubs have moved their dance to the pavilion, let us show our appreciation by attending their close distance dance. Page 2 Kittyhawk Flyer Issue 5
The next State Convention (May 2011) is in Dayton and many of the Kitty Hawks are already involved. Hopefully all of you are planning on going! I thought it would be a good idea if Kitty Hawks supported the Fundraiser in St. Mary's on October 30 th. This is in St. Mary's and all the proceeds will be going to the convention. Perhaps we can make some special plans for our trip up any ideas??? Without your support and help this job as raid chair is impossible!!! Thanks to all who help, it is team work! Thank you to those that take over attendance at the raids, does banner activity when we are at home dances, help with car pools, come or call to make a square, listen to me trying to decide on those dances on the same night I am trying to decide between, those that come dance and have fun and make my night by having a square before the dance begins or having two squares at a raid! Kitty Hawks you are an awesome group! Looking forward to being in your square soon!
